Chapter 3
Konoha Year 42.
According to the original timeline, this was the year Kakashi would enroll in the academy—and also graduate in the same year. It was also the year Hatake Sakumo would commit suicide due to village rumors.
However, thanks to Hatake Hefeng's presence, Kakashi had deeply realized his own shortcomings and no longer entertained thoughts of early graduation.
Hefeng could also sense the shifting winds in the village in time, preventing his father—who was filled with bushido spirit—from choosing death to prove his resolve.
Inside the Hatake household, Hatake Sakumo personally adjusted the clothing for Hefeng and Kakashi while instructing them: they must never misuse their power to bully classmates at school. Their strength was meant to protect themselves, their family, and Konoha—not to be used against fellow villagers.
Kakashi nodded repeatedly, saying he understood. Hefeng, however, was different.
Besides protecting himself and his family, his power was also for giving certain old schemers who coveted others a taste of their own medicine.
Lately, the system had been chiming with notifications like [Favorability from Shimura Danzō +1] and [Favorability from Sarutobi Hiruzen +1]—sounds that were both lovable and annoying.
The power gained from favorability was real, but these two—one utterly rotten, the other slyly bad—were no good people. Being targeted by either of them led to no happy ending.
Seeing Hefeng lost in thought instead of responding, Sakumo reached out and lightly knocked him on the head. Hefeng's eyes reddened as he covered his head and mumbled meekly, "I know..."
That one sound broke Kakashi's heart.
Hefeng was helpless too—this succubus physique was truly something else. He was clearly a grown man, yet he could pull off these little green tea moves without any burden.
Of course, Hefeng would absolutely never admit this was just his true nature.
Nope. Absolutely not.
Along the way, Sakumo led Hefeng and Kakashi, warmly greeting familiar faces on the street and proudly introducing his two sons to them.
Among the new students, Hefeng was undoubtedly the most eye-catching.
Boys and girls alike were drawn to the silver-white-haired brothers. The girls whispered among themselves, speculating about what lay beneath the aloof Kakashi's mask.
The boys, however, were utterly captivated by Hefeng's pale, delicate, slender appearance—many looking as if they'd marry no one but him in this lifetime. Some were already arguing in small groups over who had the right to pursue Hefeng.
If Hefeng knew about this, he'd surely marvel at the ninja world's wonders: these kids, who could barely hold their own pee, were already trying to grasp love.
While everyone stared at Hefeng, he scanned the crowd for familiar faces from his memories, offering them gentle smiles.
First, he spotted Yūhi Kurenai being led by the hand by her father, Yūhi Shinku. Kurenai was the same age as Hefeng, her young face full of anticipation for academy life.
Perhaps noticing Hefeng's gaze, Kurenai turned her head, and their eyes met.
"So handsome..." Kurenai's little face flushed as she thought to herself.
She wasn't fooled by the long hair—she immediately recognized Hefeng as a boy.
[Yūhi Kurenai Favorability +1] [Obtained Basic Genjutsu Talent]
The succubus physique's power was showing itself; Kurenai couldn't help but feel goodwill toward this boy she'd just met.
Hefeng didn't linger on Kurenai for long. He soon spotted Ebisu, Might Guy, Nohara Rin, Gekkō Hayate, Nohara Genma, and others.
As for why Obito wasn't there... obviously, he was busy helping an old lady cross the street and was late again.
Once students registered at the academy, their assigned classes and teachers were set in stone.
Soon, the various chūnin instructors led their groups back to the classrooms.
The only difference was that classes with clan children had only a few civilian students, while civilian-heavy classes had no clan children at all.
This year's teacher for Hefeng and the others was from the Sarutobi clan: Sarutobi Mada (a fanon/original character, likely a relative or lesser-known member; no direct canon counterpart as a teacher).
In the classroom, Hefeng naturally took a seat in the very back row. Kakashi quietly sat beside him without a word.
The empty seat next to Hefeng immediately became the center of a fierce scramble.
"That spot's mine!"
"No, it's mine!"
"Hmph, I'm from the Sarutobi clan—get out of my way! That classmate should sit next to me!"
"How domineering of the Sarutobi! Do you think the Shimura clan is nothing in your eyes?"
"Wanna test my fist?!"
"My sword isn't dull either!"
Watching his classmates bicker, argue, and nearly come to blows over a single seat, Hefeng felt utterly speechless. Clearly, he'd underestimated his own charm.
Kakashi had already stood up, one hand resting on the wooden training sword at his back.
Of course, it was just wood—Sakumo, no matter how open-minded, wouldn't let them bring real blades to the academy.
"Enough! Everyone sit in the nearest available seat! Otherwise, stand outside!" Sarutobi Mada shouted.
As a chūnin from the Sarutobi clan, he could still command respect from a bunch of kids.
The moment he spoke, the students—who'd been ready to fight to the death—deflated like eggplants hit by frost and quickly found seats nearby.
A spot next to Hefeng remained empty.
"As your new teacher, I don't know you yet, and you don't know me. So starting now, everyone come to the front and introduce yourselves."
"I'll start. My name is Sarutobi Mada. I'm a Konoha chūnin and your teacher for the next six years. I like Akimichi barbecue, hate my old man's nagging, and my dream is to become a jōnin. That's it—your turn."
Sarutobi Mada stepped aside, giving the floor to the eager students.
"So troublesome. I'm Nara Marui. No dreams, no likes, no dislikes, no dreams."
"I'm Akimichi Shidō. I like barbecue chips, hate anyone who won't let me eat barbecue chips, and my dream is endless barbecue chips."
Among the introductions were some familiar to Hefeng.
"I'm Nohara Rin. I like reading and medical ninjutsu. Nothing I really hate. I admire Lady Tsunade a lot, and my dream is to become a strong medical ninja like her."
After a few more, it was finally Kakashi's turn.
Just then, the classroom door slammed open with a bang. A spiky-haired boy wearing goggles and bearing the Uchiha fan crest on his back rushed in—an Uchiha clansman.
Ignoring Sarutobi Mada's furious glare, he strode straight to the front and declared loudly:
"I'm Uchiha Obito, from the Uchiha clan! I like the food my grandma makes, hate arrogant clansmen, and my dream is to become Hokage! I want the other villages to look at me in awe, fear the might of the Sharingan, and tremble at the sight of my face carved on the Hokage Rock!"
Only after finishing did Obito look down at the class. His eyes landed on the empty seat next to Hefeng—and he was instantly captivated.
In that moment, Obito found true love.
