Viola opened her eyes, disoriented and confused at first, met with darkness. But within the darkness was the sound of water gurgling, and her confusion deepened until her vision began to clear and she became aware that she was in water. She didn't know what she was doing there or how she'd gotten there, and Viola tried to swim, but none of her limbs seemed capable of moving, she remained suspended in the middle of what looked like the sea.
From confusion, her heart began to beat with fear. She couldn't think or make sense of anything at that moment; it was as though her mind had been emptied of every thought. Then she heard a whimper from below her, sounding like that of an injured dog.
When she looked down, she saw the bottom of the sea, and her insides twisted at the sight of what lay there.
