Like any other day, Carico completed his daily grind and went to sleep after eating dinner with everyone.
Booomm~~
Until, a terrible shockwave hit him in his sleep and hurled him through the air like a rug. He skipped a few times after hitting the ground before stopping. His mind filled with confusion. Vision blurred and ears ringing before sensation of pain assaulted his brain.
The confusion slowly cleared. Cries and screams of horrified women and children could be heard from all directions. In front of Carico, the whole orphanage building was destroyed. Fires burning high. It was a surreal sight. He looked around and found a few of his dorm mates sprawled around him.
Unconscious.
Carico slowly stood up. His eyes looked for someone. Within the screams, he heard distant sound of laughter and monster growling.
He suddenly felt warm liquid trickling down from his head and many other parts of his body. He looked down. And noticed blood, illuminated by fire light.
Boom!!
