Chapter 4 - DESIRE OF INTOXICATION

Darain shoved Aric back, The contact sudden was desperate, heat rushed to his face, staining his cheeks a deep red, his breath coming in uneven bursts. Fear was written plainly in his eyes-fear, confusion, and something dangerously close to vulnerability.

Aric noticed everything, the blush, the trembling hands, the way Darain stood his ground despite shaking. Instead of getting angry, a slow, unsettling thrill coiled inside him.

"What the hell are you doing?" Darian snapped, forcing strength into his voice. "I know you're the chief of our team-but that doesn't give you the right to behave like this with your subordinates. If you continue with this while we are on this case. I'll report it directly to headquarter's. And I'll make sure I'm never assigned to your team again.

The words landed hard. But Aric didn't react the way Darian expected it would be, he didn't raise his voice, or he didn't step back, he smiled.

A dark, amused smirk tugged at his lips, his eyes gleaming with something dangerously alive. "Looks, like my little bunny has grown braver," He murmured. "Those ears…they're standing taller now."

Before Darain could retreat, Aric pulled closer-not violently, not gently-just enough to invade his space. He lowered his head and brushed his nose against Darain's in a slow, deliberate motion. The contact was intimate, almost tender, yet charged with control.

Darain's body betrayed him, heat spread rapidly through his chest, his limbs growing unsteady. Fear tangled with an unwanted spark of awareness, his heart racing as desire and dread collided. He hated how his body reacted. Hated how Aric's closeness made the world feel too small.

Then the realization struck. "This bastard is teasing with me" Darain murmured in silence. With a sharp gasp, Darain pushed him away with all his strength, spun around and yanked open the Terrace door. He ran-down the corridor, through the cold air, straight towards the discussion room. His heart pounded violently, each beat echoing in his ears as through trying to warn him.

Behind him, Aric watched silently. A low chuckle escaped his lips, "Baby, even your legs are grown longer enough to run from my hands" Aric smirked under his smile.

He followed moments later. The discussion room felt like a frozen cupcake with mini moist on it, the sudden chill wrapped around him, freezing his skin, the pulse still refusing to slow. He forced himself to breathe, to stand straight, to act normal-though nothing felt normal any more.

The door opened again, Aric entered and sat next to Darain and rested his hands over Darain's thighs which made Darain's heart explode in silence" What is he trying to do?" Darain low words spined over his whole body like an electrical shock.

The door was opened again, everyone's eyes turned towards the door, where Darian snapped Aric's hands away. Mrs. Selence walked in, her expression grave, files clutched tightly against her chest. The room quieted instantly.
