Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: Ash to ashes pt2

A furious roar came out from creature, halting their next attack. It was different from the pained hiss it let out earlier; this was filled with overwhelming aggression.

It set its eyes on Luke. Even though it wasn't looking at him, Michael could feel it's killing intent from where he was standing.

He came to the conclusion that it's actually trying to kill his brother.

It slowly flung its tail upward, and with unprecedented strength, its tail sprung foward and wrapped around Luke, beginning to crush the life out of his body.

Michael's heart momentarily skipped a beat; he was so focused on Luke's screams that he hesitated to do anything until it was too late.

"RUN!"

Luke screamed in agony at an attempt to save Michael from the same fate.

Michael's eyes blinked, they met Luke's mixed gaze of "save yourself" and "I don't want to die".

For Luke everything went heavy. It wasn't just pain; it was the sensation of the world narrowing down to a single point of pressure. He heard his own ribs give way—a series of sharp, dry cracks like kindling in a fire.

As his lungs failed, his vision began to swim. The last thing he saw was his brother's face, but alongside a dark rain of blood falling back down, and onto Michael soaking him wet, before the blackness finally took him."

All the sounds around Michael faded into a high-pitched ring, and the world appeared inside a small, blurred field of vision.

One moment Luke was reaching out to him; the next, a hot rain of his brother's blood splattered across his face turning everything red.

It didn't eat the body. Instead it tossed it through the air, hitting the ground hard and rolling with a wet thud right at his feet feet.

It fixed it's eyes on Michael with a sadistic smile and a fork-tip tongue flickering in and out. It watched him waiting to see how he would react.

Michael looked down, itching to see what was his dead brother. The body looked like a ragdoll... but the face... was the

Worst part. Luke's eyes were stil open, grey and starring at nothing. His smile was gone; only streaks of blood remained on the edge of his lips.

Why couldn't I move, maybe... maybe if I did something he would still be alive.

With all that was happening, the one thing that stirred Michael's blood was how this thing infront of him had the fucking nerve to smile at him like it was getting a meal served on a silver platter.

All the blood inside Michael instinctively boiled as it circulated through out his entire body, followed by a gush of steam that was dancing out his flesh.

The creature had began charging again, this time with more passion than the other times.

Flames spewed out his palms like gasoline, this time he was ready, like the first time he sidestepped the creature's charge letting it slide right past him.

It coiled its body as it turned for another charge, giving him the opening he needed.

He stopped it jaw with both his hands, burning its mouth through the touch. It's movements became more violent and it began trashing once more.

Michael's eyes literally burned with rage, his chest ignited and violent mana began coalescing as he inhaled.

With its mouth wide open, everything had aligned perfectly for this moment. It maybe tough on the outside but not so fireproof on the inside.

He opened his mouth and a wellspring of fire scorched the inside of the monster, in constant succession.

It's movements grew slower, more difficult. It's rage turned into pain as it collapsed from its tail all the way to its head.

Returning the same courtesy it offered his brother Michael tossed its head aside as it's soul left its body.

As it's head fell to the floor, Michael turned his head and looked at his brother's lifeless corpse, he felt unsatisfied, with one snap

Of his fingers–.

Woosh.

The monster's corpse was engulfed in a blazing torrent of fire.

A lot had happened to him today, his head was everywhere he couldn't get a grip on reality and as if that wasn't enough he had used up to much mana.

His surroundings became blurred an narrow and he soon found his knees on the ground. As his head filled with overwhelming darkness his eyes faded out and he fell face first onto the dirt.

A tall, shadowed figure approached as Michael passed out.

"Rest you little shit. You did good."
