Averyn's POV
The darkness was really thick. It made Averyn feel weird. She did not have a night because she was sleeping badly. In her dream Averyn saw a city that was floating in the air.
It was lit up in a weird pale light. She was moving around a lot in her bed because the things she was seeing in her dream were really crazy.
There were people whispering around her but Averyn could not understand what they were saying. Under her feet she saw lines of light that were blinking on and off. Averyn put her hands on her chest and she felt something it was like the light of the moon was passing through her fingers.
Then Averyn woke up fast and she said, "I was really there at that city." Averyn felt like she was really, at that floating city. Her sheets clung to her damp skin.
The room was really quiet except for the sounds of her friends sleeping. Carmira, Jade, Ruelle, Gianna and Vynessa were all asleep. Vynessa looked very peaceful her face was calm and her hair was over the pillow.
Averyn felt something in her chest it was like something was pulling her to the glowing book. The glowing book was, on the bedside table. Averyn had no idea how it got there.
When she picked it up, the pages opened by themselves, casting a gentle golden glow that caused the room's shadows to move. Like fireflies, tiny magical sparks drifted along the book's edges and corners.
With a trembling voice, Averyn whispered, "You all have to see this."
Beside her, Vynessa stirred and blinked in the light. "What is going on?" She inquired.
Averyn said, "I don't know, but It seems it picked us or perhaps it's reacting to us".
The air changed as her fingers touched a page. Stretching outward, light threads pulsed softly, almost like breathing. Jade's eyes grew wide.
"Is it alive?" Averyn looked at the others and remarked, "I think it wants something." "Or someone." We must exercise caution.
A shadow moved outside the window. They noticed it. This shadow was weird because it moved around like it was alive. It was like smoke. It seemed like it was trying to do something. They started to feel scared.
Then their body just took over and did what it had to do. The shadow, outside the window was really getting to them it was like the shadow was trying to get their attention or something.
A masked figure showed up all a sudden in a big flash of light. This person moved fast and it looked easy. The hero got rid of the shadow without any trouble. The girls were. They felt amazed and scared, at the same time.
The hero disappeared as fast as the hero had appeared leaving behind some faint footprints that glowed and then went away. The girls saw that the footprints shimmered and faded. The hero was. All that was left was the memory of what the hero had done.
"This is the start " Averyn said softly holding the Codex tight to her chest. She really meant it this was the beginning of something big and the Codex was a part of it. Averyn felt it in her heart the Codex was special. It was going to change everything.
Vynessa's eyes narrowed. "We need to understand it before it understands us," she said. And for the first time, the girls realized the night was no longer just for rest—it was a threshold to a world they hadn't known existed, a world that had chosen them.
