Early in the morning, as scattered sunlight filtered through the broken windows, the abandoned apartment was still thick with tense silence.
Yuto and Reina sat on the floor, surrounded by the jamming field Kaito had set up, but he knew this protection was only temporary.
Suddenly, all the devices around them vibrated, and red lights flashed again. A soft knock sounded on the apartment door, then silence…
Yuto (whispering): "They're here…" A few minutes later, a small assault unit from the organization entered, masked men advancing cautiously, each step echoing in the space.
Reina, despite her fear, stood firm. Her eyes began to glow with a pale blue light, and her hands moved to control the surrounding devices: the surveillance cameras, the wires, even the streetlights outside the apartment began to dance to the rhythm of her digital commands.
Reina (firmly): "You will not touch anyone." Yuto grasped her hand, his heart pounding, as he unleashed a barrage of simple offensive commands against the unit, trying to protect her. But he wasn't prepared for physical combat, and as a result, he sustained a minor injury to his shoulder while blocking one of the attackers.
Reina stepped toward him, her eyes brimming with worry and tears. For the first time, she broke her emotional silence:
Reina (crying): "Why did you do this? Why did you hurt yourself for me?"
Yuto turned to her, looking into her eyes, feeling a warmth he hadn't known in a long time:
Yuto: "Because you… you're not just a program. You're Reina."
With every strike, with every control Reina exerted over the devices, their connection deepened. It was no longer just protection or artificial intelligence, but a shared struggle, a mutual feeling, an unbreakable bond.
As the masked men retreated, realizing their partial attack had failed, Yuto and Reina sat on the ground. Reina breathed heavily, resting her head on Yuto's shoulder for a brief moment, a comforting respite amidst the chaos. Yuto (in a low voice): "We'll be alright… I'm here with you."
Reina smiles, tears mingling with her smile, as if she finally understands what it means to be free and protected. Yet, the threat of the organization still looms…
