Chapter 8 - chapter 8 : rue's mystery

The school day had finally ended.

On the school ground, the sports members were still active. Loud shouts, laughter, and the sharp sound of a baseball hitting a bat echoed across the field. The atmosphere was lively and careless.

At a short distance from the ground, Yagami and Saino were walking home together.

Yagami spoke casually,

"Rue won't be coming with us today. The teacher gave him some work after school. He said he can finish it alone."

Saino nodded silently.

Then Yagami added, almost teasingly,

"Also, the student council president vote is coming soon. Are you going to participate?"

Before Saino could reply—

"HEY! MOVE!"

A sudden scream came from the baseball ground.

It was already too late.

The ball flew straight toward them, closing the distance in an instant. Barely half a second remained before it would crash into Saino's face.

Suddenly—

Yagami jumped.

With perfect timing and precise movement, he caught the ball mid-air just before impact.

The entire ground went silent.

The players froze, staring in shock. The same boy who had shouted earlier looked wide-eyed and whispered in disbelief,

"Impossible… that jump…"

Yagami landed calmly, but the force of the catch had taken its toll. His palm had turned red.

Saino noticed immediately.

"Yagami… are you okay?"

Yagami shook his hand lightly and smiled.

"Don't worry," he said. "I'm fine."

The noise on the ground slowly returned, but something had changed.

Saino kept looking at Yagami's hand, with his calmness expression .After that incident, the scene shifts.

One of Saino's classmates was walking alone on the road, silent and lost in his thoughts. The evening was quiet, but his steps were uneasy.

Suddenly, by mistake, his shoulder collided with a group of big boys coming from the opposite side.

"I–I'm sorry," he said quickly, lowering his head.

But the boy whose shoulder he had bumped into stopped. His expression darkened.

"You school students," he scoffed.

"What do you think of yourselves? Are you someone special? You think you can just say sorry and walk away?"

He clenched his fist, stepping forward, ready to punch him. The other boys watched with cruel smiles.

The schoolboy froze.

At that moment, a memory flashed through his mind—a past incident where he had been badly beaten by strangers, helpless and alone.

Why does this always happen to me?

Why… me?

His body trembled as he waited for the blow.

"Hey."

A calm voice cut through the tension.

Rue had arrived.

He stepped between them casually and pulled out a bundle of money, holding it up.

"I think you should leave that guy," he said calmly.

The angry boy's eyes shifted to the money.

Rue smiled lightly.

"I think you're an intelligent guy."

For a moment, silence hung in the air. Then the boy chuckled, lowering his fist.

"Yeah," he said, grabbing the money. "Why not?"

The group turned and walked away, leaving the schoolboy standing there, stunned and breathing heavily.

Rue glanced back at him, still smiling, as if nothing unusual had happened. The boy looked at Rue, his voice shaking.

"Why… why did you save me?"

"That was a huge amount of money. I think you lost it because of me."

Rue smiled softly.

"Don't worry," he said. "We're all classmates. And for me, we're all friends."

"So just think that a friend saved you. It's fine—this money isn't that much."

Hearing that, the boy's expression broke. His eyes filled with tears.

"Thank you… thank you so much," he said, his voice cracking.

Rue extended his hand.

"Hey," he said gently, "let's just talk. Forget what happened today. Think of it like a bad dream."

"Come on, let's move from here."

The boy wiped his eyes with his sleeve and nodded. He took Rue's hand, and the two of them began walking down the road together.

But then—

Rue's expression changed.

His smile faded. His eyes darkened, as if a cold aura had settled around him. He placed his hand on the boy's shoulder and stopped.

"Hey," Rue said quietly, his voice suddenly heavy,

"why don't we talk a bit… right here?"

The boy froze.

And just as the tension thickened—

The scene shifts.The scene shifts.

Saino was walking alone on the road, his school bag hanging loosely from one shoulder. The noise of the school had faded behind him, making it clear that the day was over and everyone was heading home.

Yet his steps were slow.

His expression was serious, distant, as if his mind was somewhere else entirely.

There is something different about Rue…

At first, Saino hadn't been sure. He had brushed the thought aside, telling himself he was overthinking. But now—after everything he had seen today—there was no doubt left in his heart.

I'm certain now.

Rue didn't just change around people.

He adapted to them.

At a glance, it looked normal—almost harmless. People change the way they talk, act, or behave depending on who they're with. That was common.

But Rue was different.

He just doesn't adapt… he copies.

And not just personality.

He copied behavior.

He copied speech patterns.

He copied body language, hand movements, even the rhythm of conversation.

Everything.

Exactly the same.

Saino tightened his grip on his bag strap.

It's like he doesn't have a personality of his own.

A strange thought crossed his mind.

Rue is like a blank sheet of paper.

Whoever comes close to him… their presence gets written onto him.

At the beginning, Saino hadn't been completely sure. But today confirmed it.

The way Rue spoke to that girl.

The scene shift to the past scene where rue to talking to that girls on the cafeteria with yagami and saino

The friendly tone.

The relaxed smile.

The hand movements.

The posture.

Even the way he stood and listened.

It was exactly the same as Yagami.

The same Yagami from the first day he met us both. That simply means he copied yagami personality.

Not similar.

Not inspired.

Identical.

Saino's chest felt heavy.

He only needs to see someone once.

That alone was enough for Rue to copy them completely.

His senses are too sharp… too precise.

This wasn't normal talent. This wasn't coincidence.

Rue is really something different.

Saino slowed to a stop.

But the most terrifying part is this…

Does he do it knowingly?

Or does it happen without him realizing it?

The thought sent a chill through Saino's spine.

As he continued walking, one thing was clear in his mind—

Rue wasn't just strange.

i don't know he is dangerous or not but that depends on his thoughts . The scene shifts to night.

A quiet house stood under the dark sky, its lights dim and lifeless. Inside, Rue slowly pushed open a door—one far darker than the rest of the house.

As the door creaked open, the room revealed a single bed and a dark shadow sitting beside it.

When Rue stepped fully inside, the shadow took shape.

It was an old man.

He sat hunched on the edge of the bed, both hands pressed tightly against his temples. His body trembled as if he were trapped inside his own fear, as though something unseen was constantly tormenting him.

The moment he saw Rue, his fear deepened.

"No… no…" the old man cried out.

"Go… go away. Leave me alone!"

Rue stopped near the doorway.

A soft smile appeared on his face—gentle, calm, almost comforting.

"Father," Rue said quietly, "why are you so afraid of me?"

"Am I really such a bad person… someone who doesn't care about his own father?"

The old man let out a broken, trembling laugh.

"go away ," the old man said, his voice shaking with fear..

"I think I care you dear father"

Rue's smile widened slightly as the door slowly closed behind him, sealing the room in darkness.
