I leaned my forehead against the magic barrier that Allen had kept me in. I was healing quickly but my worry wasn't whether or not I was going to heal, it was on Allen. Something wasn't right, and I didn't need anyone to reveal it to me.
Allen stood dead-center in the middle of the opening. He didn't say a word. He just closed his eyes.
For a second, everything went completely still. The howling wind died down, as if it was caught in frozen motion, the flames that were crackling also paused, and even the air inside the magic barrier became tense, like the atmospheric pressure had suddenly tripled. What was going on?
Hera stood across from him, her fingers still dripping with shadow magic. She tilted her head, watching him with that same twisted smirk. But as the stillness stretched on, her smile didn't fade, if anything, it widened and it made me really uncomfortable.
Then, Allen opened his eyes.
