Chapter 2 - 1st Second of Thought

"Hey, [][][] do you trust me on this?" Asked a brown-haired child while hiding behind a large tree that covered both their frames.

"With my life." Answered a frail black-haired child naively.

"Then let's do it." The brown haired child said. "When I count to three, we run towards the fields without looking back. Whoever gets caught doesn't tell on the other, okay?"

"Deal." He nodded in agreement. He was sure to lose this game of theirs but what is there to worry about? It was for fun.

"There you two are. Emri, [][][], We've been looking everywhere for you two." Said a Caretaker as she approached the two that was hiding behind a tree. "The Headmaster and Matron are looking for you two. Come now."

"THREE!" The brown haired child shouted as she sprinted off, laughing all the while.

"Wait! No fair! That's cheating!" Replied the frail child, limping for a bit before tailing behind in a full sprint. "That was cheating Emri! You didn't even wait for me."

"Then run faster! HAHAHA!" Answered Emri between heavy breaths. "[][][], You're still as slow as ever! You'll never catch up with me!"

"Come back here you two! There are guests for you two! It's rude to keep the guests waiting." Shouted the Caretaker as she watched the two run farther into the fields.

"Are those the two?" A voice came from behind. "Fine prospects indeed."

"Yes, Emri and [][][]. They are the children you have spoken about Sir Akleus." Followed a kind old woman and a man in his 30's.

"Ah, Apologies for not being able to bring them in to you at the hall. Matron, Headmaster and Sir Akleus." Bowed the Caretaker as she turned around and saw the source of the voices.

"Pay it no mind. Miss?" Answered Sir Akleus as he asked for her to continue and answer his question.

"Anna, sir."

"Then pay it no mind. Miss Anna. They are children. When they are tired, bring them to us. I'd like to have a small talk with these children."

"Thank you sir." Bowing again before she started following the two into the field.

They watched on from the tree, before long, the Headmaster had called on for someone to come over and bring a picnic to where they are so the three could sit down, talk and eat.

"Those two sure are active. Are they usually this lively?" Asked Sir Akleus as he placed down his cup of tea before picking up a confection by the table that was set up.

"Yes, normally those two would be accompanied by the other children in their games and antics, however, is Visitation Day. Their friends are busy receiving gifts or meeting with their patrons," Answered the Headmaster. "Honestly, those two can be a bit overbearing but they bring enough liveliness to the place." Added the Matron smiling as she watched the children frolick.

"I see. My God has not chosen wrongly then."

"God? Speaking of which Sir Akleus, why have someone as highly as yourself visited us and our humble place."

"A vision. A prophecy. Words of God —Providence. you can call it with many names. I received one from a Deity," He explaine stirring the drink on his cup.

"Might you mean...?"

"Precisely. It is those two." Placing his cup down before staring into the distance, where the children are playing. "The God that I worship —Cisiiye, has chosen 2 children to inherit their will, becoming their Champions and carving their destiny into the Tor'Izzackur."

"Champions?! These children?? I—"

Suprised by the outburst

"I understand the anger, Headmaster. However, I have not come to collect these children for the temple... yet," Cutting the Headmaster off mid-sentence. "Lord Cisiiye believes that that time is still ways far off."

"Show to me —death."

Those words echoed throughout the entire room, casting fear and dread to the party of five that had entered to challenge the one who hid in its confines.

Thump thump thump thump

The sound of hurried, heavy footsteps echoed as the Brave lept into action, with a mad dash he made his way towards the Throne where He was standing, watching.

"Courageous, however, Courage is never enough." He said before stretching an arm out towards the brave, calling forward the bones that lay scattered across the room and flinging them towards the Brave.

"Watch out!" Shouted the Druid as she chanted under her breath to call upon flora to cover, deflect and defend against the flying projectiles headed towards the Brave.

"Not so fast." Added the Ranger as she shot out 2 volleys of arrows while running towards a wall to take away His attention.

Diverting His attention away from the Brave because of the flying arrows, He redirected some of the Bone Barrage towards the party, particularly the Ranger.

"Not so fast."

"Dodge this."

Yelled the Brave and the Knight as the former finally reached where the Lich was and slashing his great sword to no effect while the came forwards to block all the incoming projectiles.

He clearly annoyed from the stalling tactics made by the rest of the party, flung his robe wide, shaking the ivory white bones that lay within. "Inexperienced Children. You have come to early to even have had the proper means to contend with me."

"We're not done yet!" Before lunging and thrusting his great sword to slash at the Lich that was near him.

"No. We are." Clenching His bony hand towards the group of three still near the entrance.

As soon as those words came. The Priest who had yet to do anything suddenly fell to his knees, coughing up blood and bleeding from his eyes. The Priest hadn't even been able to do a single action before he was struck.

"No!"

"Wha—" the Brave jumped retreated to make space between him and the Lich but before he could look back to see the reason for the scream, He appeared before the Brave. "Let this be a lesson... No, You will not live after this."

"There is a reason why some beings are called the Godfell."

He stabbed his hand towards the chest of the Brave, before ripping his heart off cleanly. "Too early. Repent for those beings known as Gods —aren't."
