When Mordrick and Eryon got back to the Phoenix clan, they met everyone going about their activities.
As if nothing had happened.
They both were confused but went to Mordrick's house to discuss what the next point of action was.
"Mordrick. Eryon. Where have you two been?" Liliana, Mordrick's mother asked worried. She had her suspicions but she wanted to hear from both of them.
"Mother, we went to the Griffin clan early this morning," Mordrick half lied. There was no way he could tell his mother about what he and Eryon had just done.
She was too superstitious and might make things worse than they already were.
"Oh," Liliana replied surprised. She wasn't expecting that response.
"Why'd you ask though Liliana," Eryon joined in the conversation.
"We all woke up to a fire today, showing in the mirrors of the mortal realm," she said with a grave face.
"We had all begun panicking and lost hope when an hour later, after we had returned to our homes, someone reported that the mortal realm was back to normal," she continued.
Mordrick and Eryon exchanged a quick glance.
"What do you mean back to normal, mother?" Mordrick started and Eryon glared at him.
"If the mortal realm was in flames earlier how could it be back to normal. Was it a trick of some sort on the phoenix fairies?" Eryon asked, careful with his words.
"We also don't understand what happened. After the report everyone rushed to the Mirrori and it was just as said. We were all relieved to see that the mortals were okay," Liliana said with a sigh.
Eryon and Mordrick had surprise written all over their face.
Liliana looked at them with suspicion.
"That's strange though," Eryon said casually.
"Well Mother, Eryon, I would love my privacy now please. I need to take a bath before I resume my duties." Mordrick said smiling.
"Eryon, if I recall you have a lot on your plate today." Mordrick continued as Eryon was on the way to the door.
"Hurry, remember that we need to see Berk today." Mordrick said.
Eryon left.
"Who's Beck?" Liliana inquired.
"Eryon's new pet." Mordrick replied.
"Bye mother." He said as she left.
Mordrick slumped into the chair. He bent his head with his hands covering his face.
What had they done?
Thirty minutes later, Eryon joined Mordrick in the Mirrori were the other men were half done with their duties.
"Hi Darren." Eryon said giving him a nudge on the shoulder.
"Well today it seems Mordrick will be finished earlier than you with his duties." Darren said to Eryon who had immediately begun on the first mirror.
"That's if I don't finish him first," Eryon replied splashing the liquid onto Mordrick's clothes.
"Well we'll see about that." And the two began a water fight while the other men started leaving. And soon it was just Darren, a few men and the two friends left.
"I'll leave you two to it then," Darren said joining the other men from the clan.
"Say hi to Beck for me," he yelled as he got farther from them.
Eryon and Mordrick sped up their polishing duties.
They knew they both had to have a conversation and away from the Phoenix clan too.
When they both finished, they walked to the outskirts of the Phoenix clan and sat on the grass.
"You mean that fire was just a trick. That's impossible to believe. Who would do such a thing?" Mordrick said pensive.
"What do we do about the ladies. That's the most important thing now." Eryon started.
"We took them away from their family." He continued.
"We are now certified kidnappers." Mordrick said. "We need to take them back." He concluded still pensive.
"Have you forgotten the curse, Rick?" Eryon said.
"That's a silly question to ask, if you ask me." Mordrick said clearly annoyed.
"If we see them again, what if the curse becomes stronger?" Eryon said worried. He had known the consequences of his actions since the moment he decided to save the two ladies. But now?
Would he let himself be exiled from those he loved just because of a curse.
"We need to take them back nevertheless. They can't be away from their family. And it also solved our initial problem of where they would have to stay." Mordrick replied.
"Did you feel it Rick? When you first saw her. The pull was so strong.
I don't know if I can take seeing her again," Eryon said.
"We have to take them both, back." Mordrick said.
Eryon knew what he had to do no matter what he felt. He would have to fight any feelings that may arise. He would have to be a man about it.
"When do you suggest we go?" Eryon asked.
"Tomorrow night." Mordrick replied.
