The man's confidence just now made Mu Ronyao uneasy. She wasn't stupid she could tell that his calm came from the fact that he truly wasn't afraid of being recognized.
Even if entering this room had been an accident, it still didn't lessen the shock and humiliation she had suffered tonight.
They had only met once before, and now something like this had happened again!
Ye Xuanchen explained himself in a low, controlled voice for a long time.
But when he saw that Mu Ronyao remained silent, his mood only grew worse. He pulled a cigarette from his suit pocket, lit it, and walked to the window, taking two deep drags.
About half an hour later, Mu Ronyao finally snapped out of her extreme fear.
"Even if tonight was an accident," she said hoarsely, sitting on the edge of the bed and watching him with guarded eyes, "please leave immediately. Let's just pretend nothing happened."
Ye Xuanchen was amused.
"Nothing happened?" he scoffed. "Woman, you really dare to say that after everything that just occurred?"
"We've only met twice," Mu Ronyao said stiffly. "The first time was at the hospital, and the second time was tonight. Even if you saw me… I'm very sure that nothing happened between us."
Ye Xuanchen stubbed out the cigarette and turned to look at her.
His gaze was far too aggressive.
His handsome face was already striking sharp contours, sculpted features, as if carved by God Himself. From any angle, he was flawless. But it was his eyes that were most terrifying dark as a bottomless abyss, so deep they seemed capable of swallowing a person whole.
Mu Ronyao felt suffocated under his gaze.
That feeling… it was strangely familiar.
Her heart began to pound uncontrollably, as if she had experienced this somewhere before.
The intense pressure felt like being stared down by a cheetah she was prey, ready to be pounced on and torn apart at any moment.
Goosebumps spread across her back. Her body stiffened, her breathing turning rapid.
A thought flashed through her mind.
Almost without thinking, she blurted out.
"I have AIDS!"
Ye Xuanchen was genuinely stunned.
He had intended to intimidate her, to see what other tricks this woman had up her sleeve. Who would've thought she'd shout something like that before he even spoke?
"…What?" he asked.
"I said I have AIDS!" Mu Ronyao lifted her chin stubbornly. "I was diagnosed at the hospital yesterday!"
"AIDS?" Ye Xuanchen looked at her with clear disbelief. "How could you..."
"I really do!" Mu Ronyao raised her voice, trying desperately to scare him. "That's why I was discharged from the hospital!"
"Three days ago, I spent the night with a man from a nightclub and got infected!" she continued, growing more dramatic by the second. "If you're not afraid of dying, come closer! I'll tell you right now I'll spit in your face!"
She even stuck out her tongue from afar, as if trying to prove she would actually do it.
Ye Xuanchen froze for a moment, then coughed lightly.
And then… he laughed.
The curve of his lips was unmistakable.
Three days ago?
A man from a nightclub?
So not only had she failed to recognize him, she'd even fabricated a story herself? Did she really think he had done something to her?
This was ridiculous.
Just to scare him, she'd gone this far?
Not to mention the incubation period of AIDS even if she really had it, it couldn't possibly be related to him.
And since when did spitting become a method of transmission?
This woman was honestly… too amusing.
