Chapter 29 - A Weapon Master Can Be Gentle Outside of Battle

The wind wrapped around Jia Changjiang's body, lifting him just enough to slow his descent—granting the battered warrior a brief reprieve after being struck down by the Wind Dragon.

In the end, a figure smashed straight through the roof of the Church of Favonius, crashing heavily into the hall below.

Jia Changjiang's body slammed into the floor. The momentary halt, followed by the explosive release of force, dealt a final blow to his already exhausted body. His consciousness slipped away completely.

"Ahhh!!!"

The people inside the church screamed in shock. Anyone would—seeing a man suddenly fall from the sky, his body covered in wounds, blood spilling from his mouth and nose from the impact.

At the time, Barbara had been praying before the statue of the Anemo Archon. When someone crashed down right in front of her, even she was badly startled.

But the moment she saw Jia Changjiang's injuries, Barbara forced herself to calm down and immediately began checking his condition.

After a quick examination, she let out a breath of relief.

The injuries were severe—but none were immediately fatal.

For someone who had fallen from the sky, this was already as light as it could possibly be.

Barbara promptly called upon her Vision, guiding the surrounding Hydro energy to begin treating Jia Changjiang's wounds.

While Jia Changjiang lay unconscious, the system within his mind continued to operate.

Mission Objective: Defeat the Wind Dragon Dvalin

Mission Status: Partially Completed

Reward: Partial Settlement in Progress…

Settlement Complete.

Special Weapon Usage Authorization × 12 hours.

Warning: This weapon is extremely dangerous. Use with caution.

Repeat: Use with caution.

The system's voice never reached Jia Changjiang's awareness, leaving only silent records behind.

Though Barbara had stabilized his condition and removed the danger to his life, the damage was still too severe to fully heal in a short time.

"Knights of Favonius—Acting Grand Master Jean. I'm here for the person who just fell from the sky."

A voice rang out at the church entrance.

"For the damage he caused… the Knights of Favonius will take responsibility for compensation."

Moments later, Jean hurried into the church.

At a glance, she saw Barbara kneeling beside Jia Changjiang, continuing her treatment.

"…Barbara."

Jean stepped closer, her gaze unconsciously shifting aside, a trace of awkwardness flickering across her face.

"Thank you for treating him. How is his condition?"

"J-Jean… Acting Grand Master."

Barbara almost called out the name she used as a child, but quickly corrected herself.

"His injuries are very serious. His body is covered in wounds caused by Anemo damage, combined with trauma from the fall… I've treated most of the critical injuries, but he'll still need time to recover."

"He should… wake up after some time."

Hearing that Jia Changjiang's life was not in danger, Jean finally relaxed.

"Is that so… Thank you, Barbara."

After thanking her younger sister—someone she hadn't been close to in a long time—Jean said,

"I'll take Mr. Jacks back to the Knights' headquarters."

Elsewhere, Lumine glided down from the sky using her Wind Glider.

Amber rushed over and grabbed her shoulders.

"Are you okay?!"

"We're fine! But that strange guy earlier in the sky—"

Paimon answered on Lumine's behalf.

"Acting Grand Master Jean has already gone to find him. Don't worry—he should be fine."

Kaeya spoke from nearby, smiling faintly.

"But you two… being able to fight a dragon like that. Lately, the foreign visitors to Mondstadt are really something else."

After introductions and Amber explaining Lumine's situation, Kaeya nodded.

"I see. In that case—welcome to Mondstadt. On behalf of the Knights of Favonius, thank you for helping repel the dragon."

"You're welcome. So… what's the reward?" Lumine asked without hesitation.

"Uh…" Kaeya joked. "Mondstadt specialty—Honey-Roast Carrots?"

"I already got one of those."

"Haha. In any case, Acting Grand Master Jean is very interested in you. Please come with me to headquarters for a proper discussion."

Kaeya extended the invitation.

Jean, meanwhile, brought Jia Changjiang back to the Knights' headquarters.

Some time later, Jia Changjiang finally regained consciousness.

The first thing he saw upon opening his eyes were Jean and Lisa standing before him.

"Mr. Jacks, you're finally awake."

Jean's voice carried a hint of fatigue.

After bringing him back from the church, she had continuously used Anemo to stabilize his condition, consuming a great deal of stamina.

"Yes… this is the Knights' headquarters?"

Jia Changjiang looked around and slowly sat up from the makeshift bed of chairs.

Pain surged through his body immediately.

"Yes. You fell from the sky and suffered severe injuries. Fortunately, Barbara from the church treated most of them."

Jean briefly explained the situation.

"So the Wind Dragon was driven off by me and that blonde girl… and now you want to meet her?"

Jia Changjiang summarized quickly, then nodded.

"Good. I wanted to meet her too."

Jean stepped back and gave a solemn knight's salute.

"Lastly, thank you for helping Mondstadt, Mr. Jacks."

"Because of Mondstadt, you suffered such grave injuries. This is a failure on the Knights' part. As Acting Grand Master, I truly don't know how to apologize."

Her face was filled with guilt and remorse.

"Don't be so serious—you're making me uncomfortable."

Jia Changjiang shook his head and sat up straight.

"How about this?"

He smiled at Jean.

"Let's call it a favor between me and the Knights of Favonius."

"A… favor?" Jean repeated, puzzled.

"Yes. A favor."

Jia Changjiang extended his hand toward her—giving her a way to let go of that guilt.

"Is that not acceptable? Don't worry—next time, I'll definitely have the Knights help me with something to repay it."

"That way, you won't have to keep apologizing over this."
