She's not what the legends describe—and that's exactly what makes her dangerous.
I watch Aphrodite from my position on the fallen log, tracking both the rogues and her reactions simultaneously. Multi-tasking has kept me alive this long. It serves me well now. The bark beneath my boots is damp from recent rain, slick with moss that would make most people lose their footing. I don't.
The white hair catches what little light filters through the canopy, making her visible even in shadow. Tactically foolish. Survival would dictate hiding that kind of distinction. It glows almost silver in the dimness, a beacon that screams location to anyone watching.
She doesn't hide it. Wears it like a declaration. Like she's past the point of caring who sees her, who knows what she is.
