Chapter 4 - The First Mission

Far in Southern Africa, the rebels started and spread through multiple countries. The rebels were led by a general named Kai Shin. Kai Shin was a veteran soldier and an old man full of ambition. He lit the fire of rebellion and commanded all the countries under his name. Kai Shin was impatient and a man who dreamt to become the king of earth. He sneakily raised soldiers while planting sparks of rebellion across countries.

The rift that happened twenty years ago helped him to rally his army to his own cause. The propaganda tactic he used, forced countries to obey him. There was nothing, but utopia behind the portal and the world superpowers tried to hold the utopia for themselves.

"I can see the future, I can see the future where I became a king of this world" Kai Shin announced.

"General, we received report the small country refused our help" Kai Shin's solder delivered the information

"Destroy them," Kai Shin said.

"But, General. What about civilians?"

"Kill those who are against us. I have said it so many times that everyone who is against me shall not live to see tomorrow!" enraged Kai Shin.

"I understand" the soldiers can't say anything but agreed to what Kai Shin said. Kai Shin was a dangerous man and sadistic leader. He once killed his subordinate and destroyed a nation just because the nation refused to pay what Kai Shin asked.

"They underestimate us," muttered Kai Shin. "They refused to order their armies against us"

Two years has passed since Kai Shin exposed his ambition by conquering small countries around him. He was expecting a military response from superpower states, but he was ignored, and the superpower states remained silent.

"They don't care about casualties," said Kai Shin to his subordinates. In Kai Shin's opinion, his soldiers were just pawns for him to play. They were nothing but tools. Kai Shin looked at his soldiers and was thinking of a plan to sacrifice them if his tactics failed.

"Continued the march" said Kai Shin

Kai Shin's soldiers were ready. Their time has come. They split in many forces so they were able to devastate other countries at the same time. They were confident with their military's strength.

Unbothered by the superpower states left Kai Shin very proud of himself,

"They were too scared!" Kai Shin claimed.

As their forces marched on a large scale, leaving only destruction behind them. Any leaders that opposed him were eliminated, any countries that submitted, were rewarded. He was feared by all. At least that's what he thought.

Kai Shin led his army in his headquarters, far from the front line. He regarded himself as a brilliant tactician.

His fantasy was interrupted by a soldier calling for him. The soldier breathed heavily as if a bone was stuck in his throat.

"General," the soldier kneeled before Kai Shin. "We are being attacked!"

As soon as the soldier finished his speech, a loud voice filled the place. The headquarters has been bombed.

Fighter jets that were flying above the headquarters were shot, and the armory vehicles around the headquarters exploded nearly at the same time.

Loud screams can be heard in every direction. The headquarters has fallen in a short time.

"What happened?" said Kai Shin

He bites his teeth, an old habit of his when he is stressed. Soldiers in the same room as him were asking the same question too. He ran to the outside to see what happened. He has lost his composure.

The scene before him almost made him mad. The sight of armored soldiers, in the sky–flying and targeting their armies. "What happened?" asked Kai Shin repeatedly, he seemed to lose his mind. His soldiers were forced to surrender, and his base was surrounded.

On the battlefield, one armored soldier approached Kai Shin's headquarters. Kai Shin couldn't take his eyes from the armory soldier. The dark green of the armor and the aura it had overwhelmed Kai Shin completely. Kai Shin was stunned and couldn't speak, he kneeled waiting for the soldier to come.

Without Kai Shin's order, a bombardment of attack launched at the armored soldiers, but rarely hit. The armored soldier was too fast and his armor was durable.

Kai Shin already realized he was defeated. His armies were intercepted in every direction. Decades of planning came to ruin in just hours.

"Who are you?" Kai Shin asked from far

"I am Sentinel and I come to punish you for your sin" the armored soldier answered. It was Kaine's voice.

"Surrender yourself or your soldiers will pay for that" Kaine announced.

His voice was intense and clear. "We come to deter rebellion," said Kaine. "Surrender yourself now!" Kaine shouted.

Kai Shin stood up, he was thinking of an escape. He can't escape if he surrenders. He looked at his surroundings, a vast battlefield filled with smokes and his soldiers were helpless against the advanced and armored soldiers.

"I will use them as a scapegoat,"

"Protect the building and never let enemies enter the building!" Kai Shin ordered.

He quickly ran away as soon as he gave the order. He knew the chance of victory was gone forever when he saw hundreds of armored soldiers surrounding the headquarters.

He ran away and tripped and then tripped again. The soldiers he chose to escape with him were shocked to see Kai Shin. His legs trembled and sweat poured from his face.

"Are you okay, General?"

Kai Shin refused to answer, he told them to continue to move. He was embarrassed. He couldn't control himself, the sight of the dark green armor shook him. Not only that, but he was scared.

"What the hell is that?" Kai Shin screamed. He served in the military for two decades but never in his life, he saw someone that scary.

He rushed to escape, but he heard screams from behind and the scream getting closer to Kai Shin. He turned his back and what he saw was nothing but a massacre.

The dark green armored soldier, wearing a scarlet mantle, was slaughtering his soldiers.

Every slash it made left a lifeless body. Bullets don't seem to hurt the armored soldier, and bombs don't stop its march.

A death god hunted him, and Kai Shin was terrified. The more he ran, the more soldiers on his side were killed until he was left alone…

The armored soldier stopped. It didn't take even a single step anymore.

Kai Shin was surprised. He was so into the nightmare and only thinking about how close the armored soldier was. He looked in front of him, and a group of soldiers wearing his symbol appeared before him.

"You are here," said Kai Shin. "My most trusted general, Bane. I'm really grateful you are here"

His eyes are wide now and his confidence is back. His strongest soldiers are here, and his trusted general was with him now. He stared back at the armored soldier.

Kai Shin was back to his usual self. An arrogant general. He was sure his soldiers could at least delay the armored soldier while he escaped. A win is not an option against the death god, and he knew that. Even his strongest and most versatile soldiers were pale in comparison to the death god.

"You are Bane?" Kaine asked.

"Yes, I am," the man answered.

"Execute your order" said Kaine

Kai Shin was surprised, before he could say anything. His hands were grabbed, and he was pinned down to the ground. A gun was aimed at his head.

"What are you doing?" Kai Shin shouted. He was shocked and enraged.

"Silent," said Bane. "You no longer have a right to speak"

"You are my trusted soldier, my general from the beginning. We have fought together, and now you betrayed me?"

Kai Shin realized he was tricked. He was just a puppet. He was nothing but a soldier that was controlled by a string.

"Damn you" he shouted.

Kai Shin cursed his life and he cursed all the things that happened. He was innocent in his eyes. His rambling can be heard by everyone there. He was so desperate. He was hopeless. His continued screaming was stopped when a bullet from the gun exploded in his head.

Kaine left the scene as quickly as he could. He wanted to see his comrades. He watched the battlefield and immediately knew the battle was over, and his comrades had done a great job.

His first victory.
