Chapter 2 - Second awakening

" So, the main reason for which you are here," John began catching Lloyd's attention,"is for some rewards you received for your deeds"

This greatly confused Lloyd who just kept staring at John with a confused expression.

Seeing Lloyd's confused face, John added," Well, your deeds include helping me reach Godhood, and the rewards are not from me but a being greater who you will get to know of sooner or later"

Which Lloyd understood as a very long time.

"Okay, I'm going to say everything quickly as time is precious. So your rewards include, rebirth, as in going back to earth, a new talent guaranteed to be among the strongest, and a spirit to guide you"

Lloyd looked at John bewildered by what he just heard and muttered, " Okay"

John glancing at his wrists which were just glowing said, " Okay Lloyd your time is up so I'll send you back to earth. Till we meet again if fate allows it. " then snapped his fingers. Lloyd's vision went dark instantly but he could feel his soul moving at an incredible speed in one direction.

Somewhere in the universe we see a streak of light moving towards earth as if teleporting. As it moved two other streaks of light approached from different directions and began twirling around the white streak. This kept going on for a while but as they neared earth, the two streaks, one cyan the other gold, fused with the white streak which increased in speed.

In a luxurious room, somewhere on earth, we see Lloyd, or basically just his body, sleeping peacefully on the bed. A few minutes passed when a white light appeared above his head and slowly fused into his forehead.

Once fused, Lloyd's body glows with a white light for a few seconds.

Opening his eyes a few seconds later, Lloyd began wondering, ' I'm allive, is what happened real? Is everything real? '

As he was thinking this the door to the room opened and he looked over to see a woman in a nurse outfit looking back at him. Lloyd stated at the woman and thought, " Damn, those boobs are just, damn! '

The woman left seemingly shocked.

Few minutes later two men walked in, one in a doctor's coat, and the other wearing a blue sleeveless shirt and white trousers.

The doctor looked at Lloyd with a shocked expression on his face and whispered something to the other man before leaving.

The remaining man stepped forward to Lloyd who had propped himself up on the bed and introduced himself as Tom.

" I am a representative of the Witmore Association," Tom said, " We received orders to bring you in and take care of you. "

Confused, Lloyd asked, " Who gave you the orders as I don't know anyone from Witmore Association. "

"Oh, don't worry," Tom assured him, " It seems you have a friend you call 'Old John's. "

"Yes, I do "

"Great, he is, or was, our founder. "

Hearing this Lloyd waited for the joke or punchline and not getting one he said, "No way Old John was the founder of Witmore Association. " Lloyd was shocked to the core this time. ' John had told me earlier in that white space but I didn't believe him and now I'm here '

" So what were your orders for me after I woke up? "

" We are to perform the awakening ceremony again "

Lloyd was about to ask a question when his stomach growled loudly.

Tom chuckled saying, " Dress up and come to the dining area to eat before we go for the awakening " as he left the room.

Lloyd stated awkwardly at the closed door for a moment before getting off the bed and stretching. He took a hot shower and brushed his teeth with a new brush he saw. He was still mortal so it made some sense.

Looking at himself in the mirror Lloyd was surprised.

What stared back at him was a face that was calm, almost serene, yet it carried a quiet intensity that made it difficult to look away from. Smooth, unmarked skin stretched over an elegant oval frame, the clean lines of his jaw tapering into a refined chin that gave his features a poised, deliberate balance. High, subtly hollowed cheeks added depth to his expression, lending him a mature, thoughtful air. His nose was straight and narrow, perfectly centered, as though sculpted to harmonize with the rest of his features rather than command attention.

What truly drew the eye, however, were his eyes. Almond-shaped and steady, they held an unnatural beauty—irises swirling with pale white and luminous purple, as if light itself had been trapped within them. The purple glimmered faintly near the pupils, giving his gaze an otherworldly glow that felt both distant and piercing, calm yet impossibly aware. Dark brows framed those eyes, naturally arched, reinforcing the quiet authority in his expression.

His lips were well-shaped and relaxed, neither smiling nor tense, suggesting a man accustomed to restraint. Thick black hair fell loosely across his forehead, untamed yet deliberate, streaked with threads of white and vivid purple that caught the light like echoes of something beyond the ordinary. Those streaks mirrored the strange brilliance of his eyes, binding his appearance together into a single, unsettling harmony. He looked human at first glance—but the longer one studied his face, the clearer it became that there was something else beneath the surface, something vast, patient, and watching.

After looking at himself enough he left the bathroom and wore the dresses he found on his bed. I mean it had a note on it saying "Wear this" what was he supposed to do?

Lloyd, following a maid, moved to the dining hall with a grace that disappeared as soon as food was placed in front of him.

After eating to his fill, he was then led to a room where Tommy and two others where waiting for him.

Tom introduced them as Michelle and Micelle saying, " They're among the strongest in Witmore Association and wanted to see the kind of talent you'll awaken. "

Lloyd introduced himself also then they got to the main point.

" Lloyd, walk to the stage in the middle of the room, " said Michelle , " and place your hand on the stone tablet floating there. "

The stone tablet has a red hue completely different from the one he had used when he awakened life transfer.

As Lloyd stepped on the stage, a blue screen flickered into existence in front of him with a message.

-----------------------------------------—

You,Lloyd Barnes, The child of the universe, have been granted an opportunity, ....

So, do you accept it?

-----------------------------------------—

Lloyd stared at the screen and asked, ' What kind of opportunity is this and what does it mean by child of the universe? '

He wasn't surprised about the screen as it was well known by humans as the system interface.

The text on the screen then changed

------------------------------------------—

!! Error !!

!! Error !!

Opportunity is being given forcefully!!

Brace yourself host!!

------------------------------------------—

Those where the last words he saw before everything went dark.

The first thing he noticed was that the world had gone quiet.

Not peaceful quiet—absent quiet.

The wind still moved the grass. His heartbeat still thudded in his ears. But something essential had vanished, as if reality itself had taken a step back and forgotten to finish returning.

He stopped walking.

The space in front of him… bent.

Not visually.

Conceptually.

It was as if the air there refused to be something.

His instincts screamed.

' Don't touch it !! '

He took a step back.

The ground crumbled.

Not collapsed—ceased.

A section of earth simply wasn't there anymore, edges too clean. No debris. No fragments. Just nothing.

His breath caught.

"This isn't magic," he whispered.

Magic left residue. Elements reacted.

This left nothing.

The absence pulsed.

And the pulse answered him.

A pressure settled behind his eyes—not pain, not sound, but the sensation of being observed by something that didn't need eyes.

Thoughts slowed.

Time felt thinner.

Then the system—silent until now—forced itself into existence.

------------------------------------------—

{ !! UNKNOWN PHENOMENON DETECTED !!

Warning: Non-Elemental

Warning: Non-Divine

Warning: Non-Conceptual}

-------------------------------------------—

His vision darkened at the edges.

The absence moved.

Not forward—inward.

It reached for him.

Not his body.

His definition.

Panic surged.

He tried to run.

His legs moved, but distance no longer meant what it should. Each step felt shorter, less meaningful, as if space itself was being quietly edited.

The system window shattered into fragmented lines.

--------------------------------------—

{ ERROR!!

ERROR!!

—TALENT INTERFACE BREACH—}

----------------------------------------—

Something brushed his soul.

Cold—not freezing, not painful—empty.

A whisper formed, not in words but in understanding:

Become nothing.

His memories flickered.

Not replaying—thinning.

Names felt less solid. Faces lost edges. The idea of self trembled, like a reflection disturbed by water.

"No," he breathed.

Not loudly.

Not bravely.

But deliberately.

"I'm still here."

The void pressed harder.

Reality rejected him.

His knees hit the ground—not from force, but from lack of support. Even gravity felt uncertain.

The system reassembled itself with visible strain.

------------------------------------------—

{ !! TALENT AWAKENING CONDITION MET !!

Trigger: Direct Void Contact

Requirement: Self-Assertion Under Erasure}

------------------------------------------—

The void paused.

For the first time, it reacted.

Not with anger.

With interest.

His will sharpened—not stronger, but clearer.

"I won't disappear," he said, voice steady now.

"I'll remember myself—even if the world doesn't."

Something shifted.

The pressure did not retreat.

It yielded.

Not submission.

Accommodation.

The absence flowed into him, settling like an endless shadow folding itself behind his existence.

Agony threatened to follow—

And stopped.

A new sensation replaced it.

Distance.

From the world.

From laws.

From certainty.

The system window stabilized, glowing faintly—not light, not dark.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

His vision cleared.

The absence ahead of him shrank—no longer reaching.

Not because it vanished.

Because it recognized him as compatible.

His heart hammered.

His body trembled.

But he was still whole.

Still himself.

The system added one final line.

------------------------------------------—

NOTE:

Excessive Assimilation will result in:

Identity Loss

Conceptual Rejection

Non-Existence

--------------------------------------------—

And as light came back to the room, somewhere far in the distance, beings older than gods shifted uneasily—

because someone who could touch nothing and remain something had just appeared.
