Chapter 389 - GAM Ch 389: Laziness Is Contagious

The continued progress of the Gundam project delighted the Atlantic Union.

They believed that once their vision of a revolutionary weapon was complete, the future of the Earth Union and the entire universe would be theirs.

The thought of standing above both the Earth Union and PLANT thrilled them.

They did not realize they had fallen into a carefully laid trap set by Blue Cosmos, Garfield, and Orb, reduced to mere tools in a larger game.

Their ignorance brought them joy.

Inside the Atlantic Union, celebrations filled the air with song and dance as people cheered for a bright future.

Meanwhile, Orb secretly used the constantly updating Gundam data to begin manufacturing their own new models while also modifying existing ones.

Orb's power grew rapidly, all without the Atlantic Union's knowledge.

Garfield, needing both the Gundam data and its manufacturing processes, synchronized with his base in a desolate star system through his own private channels.

Their technological paths differed from those of Orb and the Union, but that did not prevent Garfield from creating his own unique products.

However, he still had not obtained the information he truly needed, the data on the special Gundam like robot he had seen in the Star Wars universe.

As expected, without his direct presence in a given world, Garfield could not precisely control its course.

He realized he needed to create a long term stable avatar to maximize his gains in each world.

Thanks to the efforts of Patrick's intelligence agents and Garfield's own assistance, crucial information and production progress began to flow back to him.

On the Earth Alliance side, Maru Ramius, Natal Bakiruru, and other personnel began receiving basic training on the Archangel in addition to their Gundam training.

Only these high ranking officers knew the Archangel's basic parameters and its true appearance from the blueprints.

What the ship would actually look like upon completion remained unknown to them.

In the following days, the Gundam and the Archangel progressed steadily.

Lacus realized that her plans had been seen through by Garfield and that she was once again a step behind.

She began using her own methods, with help from the Clyne faction, to continuously compete with Meer for fans and supporters among PLANT residents and within ZAFT.

The children were thrilled by the performances of the two little pinks together.

They also received some exciting news.

The older of their two adorable pinks, Lacus Clyne, had found a suitable fiancé upon reaching the appropriate age.

Many said that in this new era, people would compare any potential suitor to their goddess.

Then news broke that Lacus's fiancé was Athrun Zala, the son of Patrick Zala, the Chairman of PLANT and the highest ranking officer in ZAFT.

Most of Lacus's fans were shocked and resentful.

Their goddess had just become someone else's wife.

They were very unhappy.

Meanwhile, Athrun, undergoing training in the military, faced challenges from all levels of society.

Thankfully, thanks to his protagonist aura, Athrun successfully weathered them all.

Since the law legally allowed them to marry, Athrun was naturally overjoyed.

The pink haired girl did not particularly like Athrun, but she did not hate him either.

For the sake of her idealistic vision of a peaceful world, she was willing to be with him, hoping to achieve some degree of peace through her influence.

The two families were good friends, good rivals, childhood sweethearts, and also political competitors.

After some time, they announced their engagement.

At the engagement ceremony, Athrun gave his beloved girl a pink, spherical robot named Hello, who only knew how to say Hello, hello.

Lacus later heavily modified this Hello.

Its internal electronic programs and CPU far exceeded the computing power of a main battleship, but Lacus carefully hid that power beneath its cute appearance.

As for how she modified it, she had to beg that lazy, mischievous orange cat to do it.

After little Pink's engagement, thanks to the meticulous maneuvering of the Clyne faction, she briefly surpassed Meer.

Ultimately, it was Meer's single status that temporarily stabilized the situation.

Although Garfield had groomed Meer to be a queen, she was essentially still a cute and adorable little pink.

Aside from singing and dancing, she spent her free time daydreaming and playing games.

She only studied when Garfield could no longer stand it and passively imparted knowledge to her.

Laziness is indeed contagious.

Watching Meer sprawled on the street, happily munching on snacks with her toes up, Garfield peeked out from his watermelon.

After scanning a small hill, Garfield sighed.

Some talents really cannot be compensated for by age.

This is going to infuriate little pink Lacus.

"Meer, you are eating snacks again."

Garfield said.

"Why do you not take the initiative to study. Look, your approval rating has dropped again."

The dazed Meer looked up at Garfield from her snacks, then used her tongue to tuck a stray piece from the corner of her mouth back in.

"Teacher."

She said.

"It is not that I am not trying. Lacus married Athrun, the young master of ZAFT's highest ranking officer. It is normal for me to lose fans to Lacus."

Garfield asked, "Are you not afraid that Lacus will replace you in the future."

Meer raised her hands in surrender.

"Teacher, then we can only wait for my sister to retire, right."

Garfield did not understand what she meant.

He asked Meer, "Is Lacus retiring."

"Of course."

Meer replied.

"After she and my brother in law Athrun have a baby, she definitely will not be able to sing and dance with her big belly. After the baby is born, she will need two or three years to take care of the child. Then I will have my chance."

Garfield sighed.

"Silly child, your thinking is still so simple. Lacus will give birth to a baby for the Zala family. As the true heir, after the baby is born, she will become the true uncrowned king of PLANT. What business is that of yours, her sister in law."

Garfield's gaze seemed to remind Meer of something.

After thinking for a moment, Meer exclaimed with a self deprecating laugh.

"Sigh, teacher, am I being a bit naive. If the baby is born, then he or she will be."

Garfield nodded.

"The true uncrowned king of PLANT, and you will be a scheming auntie."

Meer's face fell.

"I feel like I am already the villain in a novel. Villains never have a good ending, teacher. What should we do."

Faced with Meer's pleading eyes, Garfield sighed.

Sure enough, even a simpleton like Meer could not be helped in the end.

In the end, she would have to rely on herself.
