Chapter 28 - Chapter 28: He Built a Battlefield

Sabretooth staggered slightly, feeling his claws swipe through empty air.

Frank's transformation was far too bizarre — even for someone like him, who relied on brute strength and close-quarters combat, it had no effect at all.

Still, Sabretooth didn't seem bothered. His regeneration allowed him to keep fighting almost indefinitely.

The moment he steadied himself, he spun back around and lunged toward Frank again.

Frank didn't flinch in the slightest.

Another dagger slid out from within his own body.

"Pfft—"

"Splash—"

Each strike was accompanied by the sound of blades piercing flesh…

and the heavy plop of bodies colliding into mud.

Both of them had completely abandoned defense.

Frank's Logia-type Fruit rendered him immune to physical attacks,

while Sabretooth's healing factor made him completely indifferent to injuries.

The battle between the two had reached a strange equilibrium — a brutal, relentless deadlock.

Qin Xiao watched the fight closely. He could tell Frank was still holding back.

Frank had countless weapons stored within his body.

If he wanted to, he could unleash an arsenal of explosives — a barrage strong enough to drown Sabretooth in fire and shrapnel.

It might not kill him, but Sabretooth would feel it.

He would bleed.

He would hurt.

And Frank? Frank had nothing to fear from physical blows.

At least in that regard, he was untouchable.

Right now, Frank wasn't just fighting — he was experimenting.

He was testing the deeper applications of the Swamp Fruit,

pushing it beyond its use as an infinite storage space.

With every clash, with every dodge and counter, he was refining it.

The mud and water that made up his body kept shifting, evolving.

And beneath his feet, something even stranger was happening —

his swamp was merging with the Mirror Dimension itself.

Like a spring bubbling up from nowhere,

a growing marsh began spreading outward from his position.

Qin Xiao's eyes widened suddenly.

"Creating matter from nothing… an Omega-level mutant!"

An astonishing thought flashed through his mind.

Iceman — a mutant capable of generating ice out of thin air —

was classified as Omega-level for precisely that reason.

He had the potential, even if he hadn't fully realized it.

And now, this Swamp Fruit… was the same.

"If Fruit Users can really reach the upper limits of mutants…

then the world might one day see countless Omega-level Fruit Users.

After all, Devil Fruits already defy the laws of physics."

The Magma Fruit could create molten rock from nothing.

The Hana Hana Fruit could sprout limbs anywhere it pleased.

By mutant standards, those abilities were undeniably Omega-class.

Qin Xiao felt a surge of raw excitement —

a burning desire to know just how far these so-called Demon Fruits could go.

But almost as quickly, he exhaled and shook his head.

"No… that's impossible.

The Fruits have never shown power on a planetary scale.

Omega-level… that's probably just wishful thinking."

He turned his focus back to Frank.

The swamp beneath Frank's feet was expanding — slowly, yes,

but steadily and irresistibly.

Sabretooth began to notice something was wrong.

His attacks were getting harder and harder to land.

Where once a single punch could scatter Frank's body,

now each strike sank deeper, bogging down his arms like he was punching quicksand.

The more he struggled, the thicker and heavier the swamp around him grew.

Every step became a trap.

Every movement dragged him deeper.

The ground itself was no longer solid — it was a growing quagmire that threatened to swallow him whole.

Sabretooth's feral instincts screamed danger.

He leapt back after one more exchange, narrowly escaping the spreading swamp.

"Your… your area's getting bigger," he growled. "I don't think close combat's an option anymore."

He had to admit defeat.

Frank had created a domain — a swampy territory that belonged entirely to him.

Within it, Sabretooth couldn't even move freely, let alone fight.

If he slipped up for even a second, he'd be devoured by the mire.

With his attacks halted, the outcome was clear.

He'd lost.

Sabretooth couldn't quite comprehend it.

How?

They were mutants — born superior, gifted by nature itself.

And following Magneto, they had learned pride, conviction, and the belief that mutants stood above all others.

Their powers were diverse, unstoppable.

They were the chosen children of evolution.

So how had this so-called Demon Fruit User

just completely overpowered him?

How could his strength be this monstrous?
