I stopped Kaelen mid-step, clutching his sleeve to halt him.
"What is over there?" I whispered, pointing toward the dark cluster of buildings the System had indicated. "Two blocks away? Does anyone live there?"
Kaelen looked in the direction I was pointing, his eyes narrowing as he scanned the shadows.
"There have been camps set up for the Bladewardens," he replied, his voice barely audible. "They arrived from your Dominion this morning, My Lady. Why do you ask?"
Bladewardens? The elite Elven guard?
"Oh..." I blinked, thinking fast. "I just wanted to... uhm, see my people again. Do you mind if we just take a sneak peek there?"
Kaelen turned to me, his expression serious.
"Sneaking up on the Elven Dominion's elite guards is not easy, My Lady," he warned. "As you might know, their senses are sharper than humans. We cannot risk being spotted."
