Elias had studied many records of Siphon, and he knew that calling up your personal [Status] was instinctive and just needed a thought. However, he knew that for the first time, there had to be a pressing desire to draw upon this unique ability.
It was like learning how to suddenly use a new limb; the first time might be a bit awkward, but that action alone would ease up the connection you had with it, and soon, thoughts would not even be needed, and it could be called up with just intentions alone.
Looking around him one more time, Elias could not see any present source of danger, and it helped that he was familiar with these tunnels, even though there was not much light inside. The fact that he could see anything at all meant that he was closer to the entrance, and light was coming from the outside, and that worried him more than he would like to acknowledge. It meant this Fragment might be bigger than what he would prefer it to be.
Since this was the first time he was learning about Fragments of Divinity, every information he had on it came from the Commander, and she had told him that some Fragment might be as small as the Stoneward Asylum, which was not a small building in retrospect, carved from a mountain and more than fifteen stories tall, this was a massive building, or it could be as big as a city.
Elias hoped her words did not foreshadow bad things for him in the future, but for now, the important thing was to know his [Status] and figure out where to go from there.
He closed his eyes and felt for the new additions he could feel inside his body; the drop of blood from the Commander was a little distracting as it was like a magnet pulling his attention, but Elias was able to push through it. Maybe it was because he had always had a clear sense of his body and had a virtually perfect body, but Elias was able to easily feel Lumina flowing through his body.
It was like a single thread of cool mist that was concentrated in his stomach, and it was swimming around in his guts like a tiny worm. With his full attention placed on this thread, it stopped moving as if it was now aware of Elias's attention, and coiled around itself like a snake about to strike, 'Strange, why does it seem like my Lumina is sentient?'
Quicker than he thought possible, the thread of Lumina surged up through his guts and entered his head. He heard the laughter of the Passenger, and the chittering of what he thought were a thousand insects.
He gasped as a flood of information filled his head that sounded like the dying cries of a thousand infants, and his skull felt as if it was about to explode. Elias could feel blood pouring from his eyes, ears, and nose, and a deep grinding in his skull as if someone had jammed a blade into his brain and was twisting; he groaned, but the pain did not last for long before it vanished.
A wave of what he could only describe as healing energy, a hundred times greater than anything he had ever felt before, rushed through his body, and it took all the discipline he had not to scream in ecstasy as he felt his body shifting, breaking, and being remoulded in real time, except he was not feeling pain but pleasure.
'What the hell is happening? This is not what an awakening should feel like, not in the thousands of records I have perused,' Elias thought furiously, but before these thoughts could go anywhere, a cold wave of power entered his head, and he was not aware that at the moment his green eyes were shining as if it a light source had opened up inside his head, and this light was so bright that even through his closed eyelids, the shape of his iris could be clearly seen.
A series of concentric shockwaves erupted from his body that sent cracks through the ground, as a surge of Lumina a thousand times greater than what any Wisp should hold was erupting from his body. The tunnel filled with the statues of Asulon seemed to turn and regard Elias as the shockwaves and storm of Lumina erupting from his body sent cracks all through them.
Like a mirage that seemed to be real and yet unreal, texts began to appear inside his head, and Elias greedily read everything that was appearing on it, and he nearly collapsed in shock at what he was looking at. His mind could not understand how something like this was possible, and he could only freeze like a deer caught in the middle of a thunderstorm.
