Chapter 10 - Chapter 9

Why did God make me smart and good-looking, but only give me a height of 155 centimeters?

I really don't understand. Being pretty is such a burden, you know.

My dream…

Someday, a prince will discover a diamond in the slums me fall to his knees, beg me to be his lover,

place me like a priceless ornament on the dashboard of his multi-million-dollar car, hold my hand and introduce me to his elegant noble mother.

"This is the one I love."

Engagement.

Marriage.

Kids?

Dogs. Cats.

Servants surrounding me.

Sitting pretty, pointing my finger and giving orders, shopping, traveling abroad all the time

but…

For someone who swore he'd land a rich husband, I still hadn't even figured out how to make rich guys notice me.

Months had passed and that short high-society Eve had already switched partners almost ten times.

Meanwhile, I still hadn't found a single rich guy.

Or maybe… it was because I was too busy keeping an eye on that short brat to pay attention to anyone else?Honestly, that didn't sound wrong at all.

For months, I'd been following he around, picking fights and somehow, I was enjoying the way he fought back.

He never hid behind he connections, even though she was way richer than me. He fought fair. He had the guts to face me one-on-one.

A rich girl who made me feel like every fight was on equal ground the fairest battles I'd ever had…not counting the swarm of guys always trailing after he, of course.

Come to think of it, I barely knew anything about the rich guy I supposedly had my eye on. All I knew was his name and his faculty.

But Eve?

I knew everything he likes, he dislikes, he habits, he hair colors, nail designs, the brand and color of the bag she carried today.

I knew what he liked to eat and what he avoided because I messed with he so often.

I even knew her weight, her height, every tiny change.

Why the hell did I know so much about he?

"Lilith… Lilith."

"Yeah? What?"

"Lately you've been zoning out. Not hunting for a rich husband anymore?"

"Too lazy. Don't know why."

"Too lazy to find a husband, but still super diligent about messing with Eve every single day. At this rate, you're basically a stalker."

"Seriously, you keep staring at he. Anytime I look, you're always watching Eve. She's getting cuter too."

"I told you guys not to compliment he in front of me!"

"Eve's rich, you know. Like, really rich. Imagine how good it'd be to have a rich girlfriend~"

"Yeah, free cake for life, that's what. You want cake that bad, Tawan?

Go flirt with her then, traitor!"

"Nah… but I kinda want to try it though. Should we?"

"Do you even know how much he brand desserts cost? Not like my mom's shrine snacks twenty baht a pack. He tiny little pastries are over a hundred each. A whole cake is a thousand up. You still wanna eat?"

"See? You know way too much about your nemesis. Why are you so detailed about he life?"

"Well, I check on my phone.

How could I not know?"

"Whoa~ Cheater. Hey—Eve's here! Eve's here!"

Slide

"Hi Eve! You're cute again today! ^^"

Tawan greeted our classmate with a bright smile and a cheerful voice.

I didn't turn to look at first, but when both my friends and that short girl suddenly went quiet, I felt something was off.

So I glanced sideways, trying not to turn my head. Tawan's face went blank.

Whatever he saw left him speechless mouth hanging open.

That only made me more curious, until I finally turned to look at what had made even someone as bubbly as Tawan freeze.

Drip. Drip. Drip.

Shit.

I don't know how wide eyes can get, but mine flew open just like Tawan's.

Mok glanced over once, then quickly looked away he hates seeing people cry. Eve was crying.

Her big round eyes were filled with tears. Clear drops streamed down he cheeks and fell onto the floor.

He held he phone in he hand calls kept coming in, but he didn't answer a single one.

I didn't know what had happened, but I never thought I'd see he like this.

I should've laughed at he.

Thrown sharp words at he like I always did like every time he didn't understand a lesson and made that stupid face.

But this… this wasn't about school.

If I had to guess, it was probably about one of those many high-society people she'd been talking to. He looked so spaced out he didn't even notice we were already sitting there.

The moment she saw us, he stood up and rushed away.

Slide..

Thud thud thud thud…

"What's wrong with her? He's crying so hard he eyes are all swollen."

Tawan kept staring after he until she disappeared from sight, his face full of confusion at the sight of his friend's longtime rival in that state.

What was even stranger was that his sharp-tongued, vengeance-loving friend who just moments ago had been ready to spit venom now sat still, frowning, not throwing out a single cruel word like he always did.

Thump

"I… I need to poop. Be right back."

Thud thud thud thud…

Other students were starting to file into the classroom, but the small one suddenly excused himself and left.

The two tall guys turned to look at each other, eyebrows raised in mutual confusion.

Lilith's POV

That rich little brat for a hundred days, a thousand days, all I ever saw was he smug face and he temper, always ready to jump into a hair-pulling fight.

But the image of the two short girls locking eyes with tears streaming down the other's face that scene burned itself into my mind.

I couldn't get it out, no matter how hard I tried.

My head was full of questions.

Why was him crying?

Why was him crying?

Who made he cry?

Who the hell dared to make he cry?

It should've been me.

I should've been the one to make he cry and whine, begging me to stop bullying he.

…And that pissed me off.

I didn't even know why I was this pissed off.

Was I being nosy? Maybe.

But I had to follow he.
