Chapter 292 - Hyuga Arin Gets Played

The massive fireball descended.

The entire altar was swallowed within it.

Mōryō no longer had any chance to escape.

BOOM!!

The explosion caused the fireball to expand even further, devouring everything in its path.

[EXP: 108547]

"And this thing still gave over a hundred thousand EXP?"

Arin hadn't expected the reward to be even higher than he imagined.

He originally thought fifty thousand would already be good enough.

The entire altar vanished without a trace.

Arin slowly descended to the ground.

There, a katana quietly floated in midair.

"Zanpakutō."

The corners of Arin's lips twitched upward as he stepped forward and grabbed the blade.

[Zanpakutō: Possesses the skills [Shikai], [Bankai], [Final Release]]

"Got it."

Even throughout the entire game, this counted as a divine-tier weapon.

A true top-tier armament.

But now Arin already possessed three top-tier weapons.

For a moment, he genuinely didn't know which one to use.

After pondering briefly, Arin stored away the Six Paths: Ame-no-Murakumo Sword.

In terms of raw stats, it simply couldn't compare to the Dark Battleblade.

Its true strength lay in its skills.

But those skills weren't necessarily much stronger than his ninjutsu.

"All Attributes" referred to all attributes currently possessed by the user himself.

Meanwhile, ninjutsu damage depended on attack power, chakra quantity, and the nature transformation of the corresponding element.

As for the Dark Battleblade—

With the endless number of people who had died by Arin's hand, its attack power had already reached an unknown level.

Unless he managed to collect the full Six Paths set—

The Six Paths: Ame-no-Murakumo Sword would remain gathering dust in his inventory for now.

Arin held the Zanpakutō in his hand.

A value appeared before his eyes.

(0/100)

Between them were two markers:

30 and 80.

This blade didn't require EXP.

Instead—

It demanded an enormous amount of chakra.

As long as enough chakra was supplied, it could directly unlock its final stage.

And that final stage possessed top-tier late-game combat power.

That was precisely why Arin valued the Zanpakutō so highly.

As long as it reached its final form—

Even Six Paths-level opponents could be killed.

Though only temporarily.

He began pouring chakra into the blade.

The value started increasing rapidly.

Within his mind, a name began appearing faintly.

As more chakra flowed in, the voice became increasingly clear.

Once he could finally hear the name completely—

Arin still didn't stop.

He continued injecting chakra and pushing the value upward.

The further it progressed, the slower it became.

Eventually, he even started consuming Essence to replenish his chakra.

Finally—

He pushed the number to eighty.

After eighty, every single point consumed nearly all of his chakra reserves.

Only then did Arin decide to stop.

"Not bad."

Arin nodded in satisfaction.

He stored away the Dark Battleblade and hung the Zanpakutō at his waist instead.

Only then did he turn and fly back toward Miroku.

His wings spread open.

In moments, he arrived before her.

"Mission complete."

"Thank you very much, Lord Arin."

"Anything else?"

"That old man told me to return immediately after finishing the mission."

Arin landed before asking Miroku.

Without changing expression, Miroku replied,

"Mōryō is not so easy to truly kill."

"We need time to determine whether it has genuinely perished."

"So I hope Lord Arin can remain here for a while longer."

Arin rubbed his chin suspiciously while looking at Miroku.

He was absolutely certain Mōryō was dead.

Still—

He couldn't completely rule out the possibility of resurrection.

Turning his head, he looked toward the battlefield that had already become ruins.

Every single undead soldier had been destroyed.

"Fine."

"I'll stay awhile."

Arin didn't particularly care anyway.

The Land of Demons differed somewhat from other nations.

This country didn't possess many nobles.

There was only a king and a shrine maiden.

Unfortunately—

The king had likely died somewhere beneath the Immortal Army.

Only the shrine maiden remained.

The country itself had never possessed much wealth.

Rumor claimed they had always been responsible for sealing demonic creatures.

As a result, the nobles from other lands had never cared much about this place.

Its population was sparse.

Its territory small.

Its resources few.

Most of the nation's people were believers devoted to the shrine maiden.

In many ways—

The shrine maiden stood equal to the king.

Yomi's original target had been the king from the very beginning.

Nobody within the palace had escaped alive.

However, many civilians had hidden in secret locations.

Once the skies finally cleared—

Those survivors gradually emerged.

Though the king was gone—

They still had the shrine maiden.

Under Miroku's leadership, they began rebuilding the nation.

Since Arin had nothing better to do, he temporarily stayed by Miroku's side.

As they walked through the streets, many citizens knelt upon seeing her.

"Lady Shrine Maiden!"

The people continuously bowed toward Miroku.

"You're pretty popular."

Arin casually commented.

The surrounding citizens immediately became somewhat angry.

How dare someone speak to the shrine maiden in such a manner?

Yet unexpectedly—

The usually composed and distant Miroku suddenly smiled warmly.

The sight left many people stunned.

"If Lord Arin wishes,"

"You may possess the same status as me."

"No thanks."

Arin waved dismissively.

"I'm not interested in that sort of thing."

Even if he established a new system someday—

It would merely be something done along the way.

To him, this world was still ultimately just a game.

Farming monsters for levels was one style of gameplay.

Developing new systems and civilizations was simply his farming simulator mode.

"So."

"Is the Mōryō issue finished now?"

Miroku pondered briefly before replying,

"Not yet."

Arin could only nod.

Right now, she was the client.

Her words carried the most authority.

Originally, Arin thought Miroku must have some hidden agenda.

He had remained cautious around her the entire time.

But he truly hadn't expected—

She would play things this aggressively.

Arin was currently sleeping in the room Miroku had arranged for him.

Within the darkness—

A figure silently appeared inside the room.

The figure approached the bed and lifted the blanket—

Only to discover Arin missing.

A sharp blade suddenly appeared at the figure's throat.

Within the darkness, Arin's pale white eyes lit up.

"Lady Miroku."

"What are you doing sneaking into my room in the middle of the night?"

Miroku slightly tilted her head upward.

Instead of fearing the blade, she turned around directly and embraced him.

Dressed in revealing clothing, her graceful curves were fully exposed.

"Gulp."

Arin swallowed hard.

The very next morning—

Arin had already fled the Land of Demons entirely.

"What exactly is that woman trying to do?"

Standing atop a cliff, Arin stared toward the distant Land of Demons.

He genuinely didn't dare remain there any longer.

His figure transformed into flames and vanished instantly.

"Lady Miroku."

"Now that the king has died, should we select a new ruler?"

Inside the newly rebuilt palace, Miroku sat high upon her seat while the citizens respectfully asked.

They still needed a king to lead them.

A gentle smile appeared upon Miroku's face.

"The new king has already been decided."

"Who is it?"

Everyone looked toward Miroku expectantly.

Miroku gently placed a hand upon her abdomen and softly said,

"He is the Child of God."

"A saint."

"The one who shall lead us toward the light."

"His name…"

"Is Alaya."

Everything had unfolded exactly as foretold in the prophecy.
