Chapter 5 - Death Will Executioner in it's Full Glory

"What a disgusting smell…!"

Xavier dared not breathe. For a second, he regretted using the prison's underground drainage, but now there was no medicine for regret, so he could only steel his heart and push forward.

There is light ahead… Suddenly, his eyes lit up as he noticed an opening ahead. Xavier rushed forward and used all his strength to throw the manhole cover open, then hurriedly got out.

Looking around, he found himself in an open space with D-Block visible in the distance behind him. He had successfully managed to get out of the troublesome situation.

The shit smell had been worth it.

Just as he was about to let out a sigh of relief, he noticed a few zombies coming toward him, probably attracted by the sound of the manhole cover opening.

In a single glance, Xavier managed to count ten zombies.

Xavier's heart fell. However, he didn't try to run away, because this time, he had hope.

As the zombies staggered closer to him, the status windows from before flashed in his mind.

The world had turned into a game, and his DeathWill Executioner class didn't give him direct skills, but instead a system that rewarded him for performing successful executions.

This instinctual understanding appeared in Xavier's mind.

While he was lost in his thoughts, the ten zombies rapidly closed the distance. Their bloodied mouths opened, letting out growls filled with hunger, sending saliva flying in every direction.

"They are going away… here's our chance…"

A fiery shout came from the distance.

Xavier's eyes flickered. There was someone here.

However, before he could continue thinking, one zombie lunged in his direction.

Its rotten hand outstretched in a clawing motion. Xavier didn't know whether it was because of his enhanced stats or the newly gained class, but somehow his senses had sharpened to a great degree.

His eyes quickly darted around, scanning all the zombies. Other than the attacking zombie, there were also two females jumping toward each of his legs, their mouths open, clearly intending to take a bite.

Xavier tightened his grip on the iron bar and ducked, the zombie's claws brushing past his eyes in a swooshing motion. Missing its target, the zombie staggered and fell to the ground. Xavier took this chance to crush the heads of the two female zombies in quick succession.

Immediately upon making contact with the iron bar, the two zombies' heads burst like watermelons, brain juices dyeing the rusty bar red.

As soon as the two zombies died, a white ball of light emerged and merged with Xavier's figure, nourishing and strengthening his body from within.

Notifications echoed in quick succession.

[You have absorbed the Soul Record of a Level 5 Zombie. +3 Strength, +2 Agility.]

[You have absorbed the Soul Record of a Level 4 Zombie.]

Xavier didn't stop to celebrate. He quickly used this opportunity to kill the zombie lying on the ground.

Each and every zombie died in a single strike.

[Kill Streak - 3]

Meanwhile, by the time Xavier finished dealing with the first wave of attackers, the remaining seven zombies managed to surround him from all sides.

Badum! Badum!

His heart thundered like a war drum. Xavier could even hear the blood flowing through his veins.

He should have been overwhelmed by these exaggerated physical movements, but instead he felt an unprecedented sense of clarity. Even the zombies seemed to notice his strange state, looking at Xavier warily instead of attacking directly.

Witnessing their reaction, a wide grin appeared on his face.

"Kekeke… that's it. Fear me."

"Millie!! Why are you standing there like an idiot?"

Aron fiercely shook Millie's shoulder, his eyes fuming. They had finally gotten a chance to escape, and here this girl was, gawking like an idiot.

Millie acted as if she hadn't heard Aron shout at all, merely looking into the distance with her mouth wide open.

A figure of a young man holding a slightly bent iron bar, his movements swift and precise.

Seeing her reaction, Aron's anger flared through the roof. He had the urge to slap some sense into her.

Just at this time, a mature woman came running from behind. Seeing the two still standing and not running, a frown appeared on her face.

However, before she could start scolding them, her gaze landed on Xavier's figure dancing through the zombies like a Death Reaper.

"Who is this man…?" Jackie couldn't stop herself from questioning out loud.

The prison had turned into an absolute hellhole. Most of the prisoners had either turned into zombies or been eaten alive by fellow inmates.

Officers and other officials who had somehow managed to survive could only look at the approaching monsters in horror, as the weapons they once held proudly were nothing but flowery decorations.

Head Warden's Office

A man dressed in a luxurious white long coat watched the chaos outside with an indifferent expression on his face, his breathing calm and steady, as if the absolute carnage outside didn't affect him.

This man was none other than the Head Warden of the Federal Prison, Markus Bloodwhite, a cold and ruthless man who dictated the fate of thousands of prisoners. However, this sudden change had caused his authority to go up in smoke.

Letting out a small sigh, Markus turned his gaze away from the only exit out of the facility.

The prison's only exit, a ten-metre iron gate, was currently surrounded by zombies to the brim. All the prisoners who wanted to use the current situation as an opportunity to escape were torn to pieces.

"This is the perfect punishment for their crimes… These pieces of trash don't deserve to live."

Markus muttered with a ruthless glint in his eyes. As if reacting to the anger in his heart, a ball of surging orange flames materialized above his head, lighting up the dark room.

He hated the earlier situation. Why should these harrowing animals in human skin be fed by the hard-earned money of the taxpayers?

Kacha!

Just then, the sound of glass breaking echoed. Markus' gaze immediately turned toward the sound, his eyebrows rising in interest.

"Now what are you…?"

From the broken glass door, a half-naked woman with the side of her face bitten off staggered forward. Then, as if sensing Markus' presence, her speed increased.

Markus remained unaffected, and a pitiful expression appeared on his face.

"Oh, you poor creature… let me free you from this suffering…"

"As long as I am here, none of you will have to suffer…"
