The warthog stew was gone in record time.
Not a single drop of broth was left. Not one! The hyenas had licked the flat stones so thoroughly that they were practically shining in the firelight. They had never tasted anything so good.
Gou Sheng was lying on his back in the dirt, his swollen belly pointing at the sky, letting out happy, contented little burps.
"Oh, Boss," Gou Sheng whimpered, wiping a stray tear from his eye. "I have never been so full. My stomach feels like a warm rock. You are wonderful!"
Xin Yi let out a soft laugh. She reached over and gently patted Gou Sheng's scruffy, spotted head.
"There, there," Xin Yi smiled gently, scratching him behind his crooked ears. "I promised you good food, didn't I? Boss always keeps her promises."
