Chapter 209 - Chapter 209: Miltank, Chansey, Growlithe, and Tauros

"But what else could they do?"

Queen Lynn let out a long sigh; as a queen, she couldn't possibly lead all her people to surrender, could she?

Queen Lynn fell into a long silence; this was the predicament currently facing Oldalun City.

Furthermore, not everyone was Draconis.

Watching this scene, Draconis smiled slightly.

He knew better than anyone what would happen next in the Kanto region during this era.

Before long, the two armies of the enemy nations would fight a great battle here at Oldalun City, and the city would face the crisis of destruction.

To stop the war and save the city, Brave Aran went to the Tree of Beginning, passing his power to Mew and the Tree of Beginning. Using their power, he stopped the war and saved Oldalun City, but Aaron sacrificed himself.

Lucario was also sealed within the staff by Aaron.

Because Aaron knew that once Lucario followed, it would surely make the same choice as him; he sealed Lucario because he didn't want it to suffer the same fate.

This was the original plot, but since Draconis had come here and already befriended Aaron, and since Oldalun City and Eindoak already had a friendly relationship...

Therefore, Draconis naturally couldn't let the movie's events happen again, letting Aaron sacrifice himself and Lucario be sealed for so many years.

Thinking of this, Draconis spoke softly, "If that's the case, perhaps I have a way to help you."

"What?" Queen Lynn immediately looked up.

"I will send an army from Eindoak to be stationed here—an Embassy, a Volunteer Force, or whatever you wish to call it. We will help you guard the city and prevent the war."

Hearing this, Queen Lynn and the ministers of Oldalun City's eyes immediately lit up.

But following that, a trace of concern couldn't help but rise in the eyes of some.

Draconis naturally noticed the change in their expressions and said with a smile:

"Please rest assured, we will not interfere in your internal affairs. Our presence is solely to deepen the cooperation between our two nations. At the same time, we will teach you the methods of taming Magical Beasts to help you enhance your national strength."

The ministers immediately fell into deep thought.

After a long while, a white-bearded old man stepped forward and asked in confusion:

"I wonder why His Majesty Draconis is willing to help our Oldalun City so much?"

Queen Lynn also looked over, and even Aaron and Lucario cast their gazes this way.

"I just said, to deepen the cooperation between our two nations. I wouldn't want Oldalun City to face the disaster of national destruction before our Trade Routes have even officially opened."

"Moreover... I hope the Magical Beasts on this land can also live in peace with humans, just like in our land," Draconis replied.

Of course, these were only two of the reasons; he didn't voice the others.

"Lord Draconis truly is a great king!" A smile appeared on Queen Lynn's face, and she had already made her decision.

"In that case, on behalf of Oldalun City, I officially establish an alliance and cooperative relationship with Eindoak!"

After speaking, Queen Lynn looked at Draconis again and said:

"Lord Draconis, we will do our best to satisfy your requirements."

Draconis stood up and shook hands with Queen Lynn amicably.

At this moment, Eindoak and Oldalun City officially established a partnership.

The matters at Oldalun City weren't over yet. Draconis took the time to ride Kyurem back to Eindoak, spending half a day processing all the official business piled up in the castle.

Afterward, he returned to Oldalun City with Kyurem.

Pokémon like Miltank, Mr. Mime, and Chansey were still being sought. Seeing that there were no results yet, Draconis took the time to visit the Tree of Beginning again.

Upon seeing him, Mew appeared very happy.

"Miu!"

But then, it seemed a bit confused. Mew tilted its head and asked, "Miu?"

"Kyurem, could you translate?"

"..."

After a moment of silence, Kyurem's voice rang out again.

"It is asking thee where thou went before; it went to the human castle and could not find thee."

"Oh, that?" Draconis patted Mew's head and replied with a smile, "I took some time to go home."

"Miu?" (Home?)

With the translator Kyurem's help, Draconis could naturally understand Mew's meaning.

He nodded. "That's right. My hometown is in Eindoak, a place very, very far from Oldalun City. I came here riding Kyurem."

A very, very far place...

For some reason, a sense of crisis suddenly surfaced in Mew's heart.

If... if Draconis went home in the future, would it still be able to see him?

Although Mew wanted to play with Draconis, the important thing was that it shared a symbiotic relationship with this Tree of Beginning, which meant it couldn't leave this place too far.

If Draconis went home in the future, would it never be able to play with toys with him again?

At the thought of this, Mew felt a bit listless about everything.

"Come, these are snacks I brought for you from my hometown. They should be enough to last you a long time."

As he spoke, Draconis took off the backpack behind him and poured out all the poffins and pokéblocks inside, placing them where Mew kept its toys.

"Miu?"

"I have some things to do next, so I might not be able to come and play with you," Draconis said. Whether it was the Miltank or the various affairs back in Eindoak, they all required his personal attention.

Because of this, he couldn't even stay in Oldalun City for too long.

However, just as he finished speaking, Draconis saw a pitiful and reluctant expression on Mew's small face.

Draconis: "..."

It was a pity that Mew couldn't leave the Tree of Beginning; otherwise, he would definitely take Mew back to his hometown to raise it well.

"Don't be sad. I'll come to see you whenever I have time in the future," Draconis smiled and patted Mew's head, comforting it.

"Miu?"

"Of course it's true." Draconis couldn't help but think to himself—perhaps Mew had lived alone on the Tree of Beginning for too long and was just too lonely and solitary?

Poor little guy...

The next day, Queen Lynn finally sent word.

She dispatched Aaron and Lucario to inform Draconis.

"Your Majesty Draconis, we have found the Magical Beasts you required!"

"Oh?" Draconis's spirits immediately lifted. "Quickly, take me to see!"

"Please follow me." Aaron turned around and led the way.

The two left the castle and soon arrived at a small plaza paved with marble.

Many people had already gathered here, including castle guards, maids, and even Queen Lynn.

In front of them stood several cold, sturdy iron cages.

A large group of various Pokémon were locked inside the iron cages.

There was a Pokémon that looked like a pink dairy cow with a black ball at the end of its tail. That was exactly the Pokémon Draconis had been dreaming of—a Miltank, which could produce twenty liters of nutrient-rich milk a day!

Besides that, there were many Pokémon with pink egg-shaped bodies, a pouch on their bellies containing an egg, and looking disheveled and covered in scars.

Those were... Chansey!

Additionally, there was a group of small dog Pokémon with orange fur and several black stripes, sitting on the ground instead of being in cages—Growlithe.

Unlike Chansey and Miltank, they didn't seem to fear humans; instead, they were barking happily.

Growlithe—the name surfaced in Draconis's mind. This was a Pokémon that had lived with humans since a very long time ago.

It was said that its bones had been unearthed from ruins of the even more ancient Stone Age, proving that they had integrated into human life since then.

Growlithe were honest, very clever and cute, loyal and brave, and very easy to get close to.

Draconis's gaze swept across the area, and he roughly calculated that there were about four hundred of these Pokémon in total.

"Reporting to Your Majesty, because time was too short, we have only found these for now!" a guard said.

Queen Lynn's gaze swept over these Magical Beasts, her brow furrowing slightly.

"Did you hurt them?"

"No, no... we didn't do this!" The guard shook his head repeatedly and explained quickly, "We intercepted these Magical Beasts from some Black Market Traders!"

"Those traders said that wealthy people paid a high price to buy Chansey for collection. And these Miltank, we bought them from farmers in the countryside!"

"As for Slugma, that kind of Magical Beast has boiling magma flowing through its body; one's hand would be cooked upon touching it. Our guards didn't dare get close, so... please forgive us, Your Majesty!" The guard quickly knelt down.

Seeing this, Queen Lynn looked at Draconis apologetically.

"Lord Draconis, please forgive us."

"It's all right. Eindoak and Oldalun City are now allies; there will be plenty of cooperation in the future, so we can take it slow." Draconis shook his head gently.

He stepped toward the iron cages, looking at the Miltank and Chansey inside.

The Miltank didn't have any injuries; perhaps because they had been raised by farmers, they weren't that afraid of humans.

But Chansey was different.

According to Aaron, because the eggs they carried were too delicious, they were treated as rare ingredients by nobles and could be sold for extremely high prices in some places.

Because of this, humans had been hunting Chansey everywhere for years just to get their eggs.

This had also led to a rapid decrease in the number of Chansey in the wild.

Almost all Chansey were full of fear toward humans.

For instance, seeing Draconis approach, the Chansey in the cages immediately began to shiver pitifully.

Draconis's gaze fell on their injuries; clearly, these Chansey had encountered very bad things before coming here.

"Lucky..."

Some Chansey shrank back into the cages with faces full of terror.

"Don't be afraid, Chansey. I won't hurt you. It's all right now." Draconis tried his best to soothe their emotions.

But the Chanseys' tension didn't seem to ease.

"Your... Your Majesty, these Chansey encountered very bad things at the hands of those Black Market Traders. They are very afraid of people and might not be able to get close to humans like the Growlithe..." the guard nearby couldn't help but say.

"I know." Draconis naturally understood this and let out a silent sigh.

Indeed, besides their Unova region, there were many other places in the world where humans and Pokémon viewed each other as enemies.

Draconis didn't say anything more. Once he took the Chansey back to the Unova region, back to Nimbasa City, and let them see the sights there for themselves, they would slowly understand.

Next, Draconis turned his gaze to the Miltank nearby.

The Miltank had curious expressions in their eyes.

"Hello, Miltank!" Draconis greeted them.

"Moo moo?" The Miltanks blinked.

"Queen Lynn, since when has Oldalun City been raising these Magical Beasts called Miltank?" Draconis asked.

Queen Lynn thought for a moment and replied, "It started a long time ago. Miltank are gentle by nature and almost never attack humans."

"Furthermore, I heard that a long time ago, wild Miltank would feel uncomfortable because they had too much milk in their bodies, so they would actively run to human villages to find someone to help them milk them!"

It was then that people discovered how delicious Miltank milk was and how much it helped the human body, so they began raising Miltank.

"I see." Draconis nodded; this was similar to what he knew.

"By the way, Your Majesty, we have also prepared some Magical Beasts that correspond to Miltank for you," the guard nearby said.

He waved his hand, and several Tauros were led out from behind.

"These Magical Beasts are called Tauros. Although they have a bit of a temper, farmers use them to mate with Miltank to breed Miltank calves. Perhaps they can be of help to you," the guard introduced.

Draconis's eyes immediately lit up.

He almost forgot about that!

Miltank are an all-female species, and in the Kanto region, their male counterpart is Tauros. When they breed, they can produce either Miltank or Tauros offspring.

Draconis nodded with satisfaction. "Thank you for your hard work!"

The guard grinned and scratched his head sheepishly.

Then, Draconis turned his gaze to the Growlithe.

The Growlithe were sitting in a row on the ground. Seeing him look over, they all enthusiastically wagged their tails.

"Woof woof!"

"These Growlithe were originally prepared for the guards of Oldalun City, but since you need them, Lord Draconis, we will give them to you as a gift," Queen Lynn said.

"Then thank you very much," Draconis said.

Now, Officer Jenny's best partner was finally in place.

Although the Officer Jennys of the Unova region hadn't appeared before him yet, Draconis had a premonition that they would appear sooner or later.
