Just who are you.. Tushan Shuo?
You are the weakest –What type of identity can make them listen to you and separate from the main group?
"Apart from my name, don't you have any other thing to tell me about myself ?"
Tushan Xin looked guiltily at her bruised head, which has mostly healed under the effect of Moon Dew Essence.
"It's all my fault, I can't believe you lost all your memories–You don't even remember your identity."
She took a deep breath and patted her chest lightly. "Ask me any question. Anything at all."
Bai Shuo smiled inwardly at her comical display.
She's so adorable.
" Why don't we start with my identity?"
That's what Bai Shuo was most curious about.
" Right, you are the Seventh Princess of the Silver White Foxes. Oh,our Fox Clan has two faction– White Foxes and Red foxes."
The gears in Bai Shuo's head turned.
Seventh Princess?
White Foxes and Red Foxes?
Damn..Why didn't she know this?
"I only know…" She paused her thoughts " Right–Humans knew so little about the Ancestral clans."
The peaceful pact between the two realms prevented them for crossing each other's territory.
She only knew that the Fox Clan was one of the major clans in Primordial Abyss. She didn't even know they had factions.
And She's the seventh Princess.
Of the Silver White Foxes?
Not like she knew the difference between the two factions anyways– Probably the color.
Quite a lofty identity.
Tushan Xin continued in a calm and unhurried tone "Your mother is the Matriarch of our Silver White Foxes faction and your Fiance is the last prince of the Red Foxes faction."
Bai Shuo was surprised.
Seems like I'm fated to be entangled with the Matriarch of clans.
In her past life, her Aunt was the Matriarch of the Bai clan –Before she died alongside her mother .
A suspicious death. One she hadn't figured out even before she died.
"Wait… Then the Palanquin behind us includes candidates from both clans–even the male White Silver Foxes."
"Yes" Tushan Xin bobbed her head, revealing her white pearls of teeth.
Bai Shuo asked hopefully "You don't really know why I wanted us to move ahead?
"No"
"No? Aren't you my best friend?"
"Of course I am." Tushan Xin said helplessly "But you refused to tell me."
Bai Shuo sighed inwardly.
So did Tushan Shuo know something or not.
She guessed it was the Matriarch that ordered them to go along with her. They should be Silver White Foxes too.
Yet why was a Foundation Establishment Cultivator among the list of candidates for the competition?
Was there another reason?
Tushan Xin noticed her thoughtful look and nudged her Fox form asking curiously " Did you remember something?"
Bai Shuo's heart skipped a beat.
She looked up and noticed the girls gaze on her.
Tushan Xin's curiosity.
Tushan Lin's suspicious eyes.
Tushan Hui's distracted eyes .
Except from Tushan Fei. Her eyes were closed, her Fox ears, however have popped out since who knows when.
Damn. I didn't do anything suspicious. Did I?
"No" She paused " I was just wondering, I'm so weak,so why am I in the list of candidates."
"Oh, that's because The Lady said you should treat it as an experience. You are not part of the main list though."
Was it that simple?
Bai Shuo had a nagging feeling that there was more to it.
Tushan Hui sneered "Hah..you are quite self aware –As weak as you are,you better not run around making troubles for the clan."
Bai Shuo tilted her head "The clan?" She paused, drawling out her words " Or your Prince?"
Tushan Hui stiffened.
"What are you talking about?"
Fox Bai Shuo's lips curled.
She sighed and said dramatically " I wonder how my mother will react if she knows my Fiance is about to be snatched away."
Tushan Hui's expression changed abruptly as she growled."What do you mean?"
Bai Shuo blinked innocently "I don't mean anything."
"You.."
"Sigh. It's alright, I won't complain. The strong get to take it all ."
Tushan Hui was so infuriated but only glared at her and kept shut.
She felt depressed. How did this fool suddenly become smart?
Hmph. Do I look like I'm easy to bully?. I didn't expect that acting could be so exhilarating. No wonder Bai Yu is so into it.
However, the feeling of pummeling her enemies was more exciting than petty schemes.
Tsk.. She couldn't believe that she would one day resort to cunningness to win a verbal argument –Well, foxes are known for being cunning.
Obviously not all foxes though, this Tushan Hui was left speechless with just a few words.
Even her previous self was sharper but she prefers settling matters with her fists.
Tushan Xin was clearly confused by the exchange but was obviously impressed by her little fox friend.
She leaned in and whispered into her fox ears "I don't understand what you meant but I really like you like this.. "
"Tsk.. Seeing her speechless so is satisfying."
Bai Shuo scanned the others and met Tushan Lin's eyes– Amused but no longer suspicious.
She heaved a sigh of relief inwardly.
She had done that to divert attention.
First, because she really couldn't stand Tushan Hui's contempous expression.
She had always been the one disdainful of others.
If she had been in her original body, that daring fox would have long been gone.
And secondly, She had noticed Tushan Lin's suspicions.
From her observation, she was the most meticulous, paying attention to little details.
Bai Shuo wasn't sure what exactly she was suspicious about but she couldn't afford any scrutiny right now.
The way she was being treated by Tushan Hui despite knowing her identity told her a thing or two.
The original Tushan Shuo must be a submissive person and maybe unpopular amongst her clan members–Probably because of her lesser talent.
A coward.
So she must not have the guts to retort to a Nascent Soul Cultivator like she did.
It was a perfect reaction for a Princess who lost her memories –Including whatever pains and humiliation she faced for her poor talent.
Her instincts as a top warrior has been honed and etched into her soul.
Otherwise, she wouldn't have been able to determine others cultivation despite being at a lower realm.
She had noticed Tushan Hui's subtle glare and black face when her so-called Fiance was mentioned.
And with her fidgety attitude and occasional glances at the Palanquin behind.
Tch. This fox must be interested in her Fiance.
And sure enough,she was right.
She just didn't know if they already had a tryst or if the so-called Fiance was faithful to her.
The Palanquin fell into silence.
Bai Shuo settled comfortably on the velvet vouch within the Void-Drift palanquin.
The void-silk veils did not fully part; they thinned instead, becoming translucent where her gaze lingered, like shadow yielding to moonlight.
Outside, the Primordial Abyss flowed by in buzzing noise.
Chirping of birds.
Buzzing of insects.
Swaying of intelligent faunas.
A sharp contrast to the eerie nighttime.
Ancient trees rose from the light stone in scattered groves, their trunks twisted and massive, bark etched with scars left by forgotten eras.
Their roots did not sink into soil, but sprawled across exposed rock, gripping the land as though anchoring themselves against the abyss itself.
As the palanquin drifted forward, the trees passed in slow procession, their forms bending and straightening as the spatial current subtly distorted distance.
Bai Shuo's reflection shimmered faintly against the void-silk, superimposed over the passing trees.
She watched the forest recede, her expression calm, yet the gears in her head was turning wildly—She must figure out the problem with her meridians.
She wanted to see how a normal fox meridians looked like.
Is her meridian structure normal.
Or just as she thought–
A hybrid.
She plans to ask Tushan Xin. The young girl trusts her and will surely agree.
However,it's not possible to ask her in the Void-Drift Palanquin. The others might suspect her motives.
Ultimately, the Sea of Consciousness and the Meridians are forbidden places for a Cultivator.
Her request has to wait till they reach their destination.
The Void-Drift Palanquins slowed—not by deceleration, but by space tightening around them.
Ahead, Qingyu Palace revealed itself.
Bai Shuo's eyes widened.
