Chapter 10 - Chapter 10: Blood And Power

CHAPTER 10: Blood and Power

Hearing the Third Elder's question, the Seventh Leader simply snorted in response.

He and the Third Elder had always been at odds—ever since the day she evolved into the Mortal Realm. Even though he was a few years older than her, she always addressed him as "Little Seventh," causing him to lose face in front of the others.

Seeing the Seventh Leader grumbling to himself, the Third Elder let out a cute chuckle.

The Second Supreme Elder cleared her throat. "Fourth Brother."

The Fourth Elder straightened. "Does Second Brother have an assignment for me?"

"Fourth Brother, this time I want you to go to Blue Fur City."

The Fourth Elder frowned. "Is it because of the rampant hybrid case? If that's the case, then Seventh Brother can handle it. After all, it's his responsibility."

His tone made his unwillingness clear.

The Second Supreme Elder's expression grew serious. "Fourth Brother, you should be aware of what type of hybrid I am."

"Yes," the Fourth Elder replied. "Everyone knows your hybrid abilities excels at predictions."

"Exactly. A few days after that incident, I discovered I was no longer able to predict the future of Blue Fur City."

The room fell silent.

"I'm not sure why," the Second Supreme Elder continued, "but it's as if a powerful fog has enveloped the entire city. When the representative from the Celestial Academy arrived here a few years ago, I tried to predict what lies inside that dimension they want our disciples to explore. I couldn't understand anything I was seeing—which can only be explained by how powerful the creator of that dimension must be."

Benjamin's voice exploded through the chamber. "What?! Why did you keep this to yourself and not report it sooner?!"

"Benjamin, calm down," the First Supreme Elder said firmly. "Divination is different from combat. When you predict the future, you must be patient and identify the anomaly interfering with your vision before taking action."

Benjamin took a deep breath, his fury calming down. He turned his gaze back to the Second Supreme Elder.

The Second Supreme Elder, seemingly understanding what Benjamin was thinking, nodded slowly.

"The First Supreme Elder is right. We cannot take rash action. There are only two possibilities for something like this to happen."

She paused, letting the weight of her words settle.

"Either a very powerful hybrid currently exists in Blue Fur City—one we cannot afford to provoke—or..."

Another pause.

"There is a legend. One that all of us in this hall should be well aware of."

Her voice dropped lower.

"The birth of a legendary talent is shrouded in mysteries that no ordinary Mortal Realm hybrid can reveal."

The room erupted in stunned silence.

Even the first supreme elder looked shocked. None of them—not even Benjamin—had considered this possibility.

"How could this be?" the First Supreme Elder finally said, his voice shaking slightly.

"That's all I can think of," the Second Supreme Elder replied quietly.

Benjamin took a deep breath, his mind racing. Finally, he spoke—his voice commanding and decisive.

"Seventh Elder. Fourth Elder."

Both straightened immediately.

"In one month, you will travel to Blue Fur City. Once there, do everything in your power to learn as much as you can about the city's current situation. Determine whether a Supreme Hybrid or a legendary talent truly exists there."

"Yes, sir," they both answered in unison.

Then they departed the hall to prepare for their journey.

One Week Later—Blue Fur City

A week had passed since Osa returned to the city, and he'd resumed his routine of sweeping.

But this time, something was different.

He finished the job in just three hours—compared to the nearly half a day it used to take him. And he was confident he could cut that time down even further if he pushed himself.

Everything had been going well since his transformation—until two days ago, during training with Dean.

That's when Dean had explained something critical: blood is everything to Blood Vampires.

Some used it as food. Others used it as a shortcut to gain power.

Blood control was one of the core abilities of a Blood Vampire—alongside their terrifying physical prowess.

Dean had explained that by consuming blood, a Blood Vampire could cleanse their blood aura, strengthening both their body and their powers in the process.

Osa had been thinking about it nonstop for the past two days.

What if I killed and consumed every corrupt hybrid in the city?

How strong would I become then?

Maybe I wouldn't even have to fear the Blue Fur Organization anymore.

He shook his head violently, snapping himself out of the thought.

What am I even thinking? The Blue Fur Organization would never stand by and watch as so many hybrids were massacred. They'd hunt me down without hesitation.

Osa took a deep breath, forcing himself to think more carefully.

If I'm going to do this, I have to be smart about it. Kill covertly. Target only the corrupt officials—the ones who've been bleeding this city dry. Give the underprivileged and homeless a chance.

His resolve hardened.

I'll do it. But carefully.

After finishing his sweeping, Osa ran back to his small house, tossed the broom into its usual corner, and changed into his training outfit.

Then he sprinted toward the Godforsaken Mountain.

The Godforsaken Mountain—Outer Region

Thirty Kilometers In

Osa lay sprawled on the rocky ground, gasping for air.

Above him, standing atop a large boulder, Dean looked down with an amused grin. He cleared his throat and sat down casually on the rock.

"I know you've made up your mind," Dean said. "And I'm fine with that. But I want you to be careful. If you get caught, you'll be labeled a demon."

Osa struggled to his feet, still breathing hard. "I know what to do. But tell me—how strong am I now compared to other hybrids?"

It was the most important question he'd had since training began.

Dean stroked his chin thoughtfully.

"Imagine if you were to meet—what was the name of that greedy estate manager again?"

"Mr. Aaron," Osa corrected.

"Right. If you were to meet him now, he wouldn't be your opponent. As for your overall abilities, our brief tests allowed me to finally determine how strong you are."

Dean's expression turned serious.

"With your current strength, you're stronger than even a regular mid-level hybrid in this country. With your speed, it's not impossible for you to escape from a regular high-level hybrid. You can currently lift about five tons, and you can move twenty meters per second."

Osa's face split into a wide, foolish grin.

A few months ago, I was thinking about working for a hybrid. Now I'm thinking about which hybrid I need to kill.
