Chapter 13 - Chapter 13: Being Human -> Growing Pains

Hope heard her name being called for a fleeting moment so she glanced to one side trying to find the owner of the voice. She knew the terrible soul beings didn't know her by name and that the elven home was no where near here, so the fact that someone here knew her name was bugging her mind. She watched the scene unfolding before her bemused.

At the time Hope's name was called, all the soul beings gathered froze for a moment, with different things running through their mind. So were afraid, others felt hope while some felt confusion but that feeling lasted for only a moment while Diego turned to face the intruders and address them.

[You puny things dear face one such as I.]

[You should have stuck to scrambling around like the puny things you are while trying to gain pieces of information your kind don't deserve]

[If only you had done that maybe you wouldn't be erased so easily as I graced you with my presence]

[Seeing as this would be the last time in your life you would see it, me and this world, I think it is only fair that I reveal my plan to you]

[I, Saviour of Darkovia will return to the motherland and heal it of the plague hosting it which you this things have caused and then I will only allow those who are truly worthy of Darkovia being their home to reside in the land of souls]

The skeleton knight could not keep shut anymore and said:

[How do you hope to heal the land]

[The curses there are even dangerous to us]

Diego replied:

[I don't expect your empty skull to understand but I recently secured a merchandise that will solve that little problem and more, something your puny elders would never achieve]

[I present to you the eighth of the Light Of the god of life, Master of life or should I say natural energy and last but not the least the Great One of the elfs, a weak race and those ignorant to the brilliance of God Darkovia]

[With the natural energy within her, those curses will be erased and she will have more than enough power to give life to our barren land]

[A plan so simple anyone could think of it, but only I was blessed with the luck and means to seal its fruition]

The two Maru's officials had a scared look, filled with disgust as they asked:

[The first elder specifically told us to stop all our dealings with the creations of life and you go to kidnap one.]

[I fear your plan will never work, when word reach the other Lights of the God of life they will plan an assassination that will lead to the death of many of us and them.]

Diego scoffed and said:

[My plan will succeed because the only leak to what I have told you now has been contained.]

[NOW DIE...]

Diego raised his right hand, his hand looked as if it was absorbing cursed energy from the area to form a dark aura.

As Diego put his hand down everything around the path the two skeletons were was disintegrated, leaving a pitch black straight line.

[I believe that took care of the intruders]

Diego had an expression that looked like he was smiling and turned to the shivering Hope.

[Let's go, we have wasted a lot of time taking out the trash]

Love could not breathe as she saw the two skeletons disintegrated in a flash in what looked like a wave of the vampire's hand. She wanted to save Hope a while ago but before she could move Willow was clutching her hands tightly while saying in short gasps.

"Don't move..."

At the moment the vampire attacked she was grateful she listened to Willow or she would have been just another speck of dust on the ground.

Love and Willow maintained their positions while waiting for the soul beings to depart. Love face hurt the most when she saw that Hope was captured and her only hope for saving her mother was going to be used as a sacrifice to save a cursed, barren land.

The soul beings finally departed, leaving a large trail of darkness in their path, dead trees, barren land, spoilt fruits and a variety of curses were littered here and there in the direction the bone wyvern passed.

The light that had left Willow's dark face was restored and she finally stopped shivering, Willow decided to build a new camp to live in since their old camp was gone. So she started gathering woods, large leaves for the roofs and a variety of stones while deliberately staying away from areas that were cursed.

Love had a lot of things on her mind and could not containing it anymore and asked:

"Where are the Elves located?"

Willow stopped what she was doing as she began to sob. A while passed before Willow finally stopped sobbing, she told Love about the Elves and how she was banished from the elves because she murdered a fellow elf to save her life. She said the elves believed in having faith in their God but they were also corrupt. She also went on to talk about how the war of the elves and soul beings started and that she didn't know what caused the end of the war or why the soul beings were residing in the elves territory.

Love was grateful about having some of the questions in her mind answered, but when Willow answered her questions she seemed to have more questions and finally decided that the only way to achieve full understanding was if she went to the home of the elves by herself, observe their way of life, religion, gain their trust and brought them valuable information concerning the Great One of the elves, that she could quell her curiosity, so she asked Willow to take her to the home of the elves.

Willow looked at Love as if she was observing an ungrateful child and shouted with annoyance:

"Have you not heard anything I just explained."

"I said I was banished from the 'home of the elves'."

"I can't return!"

Willow let out a few more tears and proceeded to complete the camp. Love tried explaining to Willow why she needed to go and that she didn't need Willow to follow her, all she had to do was point the correct directions and lead the way, but Willow just ignored her.

Willow completed the camp and proceeded to sleep at an enclosed space on the floor while Love laid awake on the floor opposite Willow, neither spoke to the other until they both drifted off to the cold embrace of sleep.

The next morning, Willow was nowhere to be found so Love proceeded to tend to some of the loose creaks in the hastily built shed she slept, but before she could step outside the door of the shed, she saw a something on top of a work bench.

Love moved closer to the work bench and saw two things, first was a letter written in blocks on a soft piece of wood while the other was a map.

Love looked into the letter and read:

I will miss you.

I created a map to show the traps and dangerous areas I encountered until I met you.

I didn't know that my map would later be given to you to use to return to the place I was banished from.

I just want you to know that you mean a lot to me and maybe that is why it hurt so much to leave you.

Please take care, avoid all danger and make me proud.

Written with love, Willow>

Love gasped softly, her face red and finally let out a cry as she lost her friend.
