Chapter 31 - Chapter 30: Territory—Hall of Plenty

In the end, it came down to the merit accumulated from killing Pycelle to rid the people of a scourge.

"With you, I know what to do."

Daeron put the golden crescent-shaped lucky ring on his left index finger and gripped the neptune greatsword with his right hand.

He could wear two rings, but he could only use one weapon.

Ordinary weapons didn't count.

"It's a bit heavy; not suitable for two-handed swordplay."

Daeron weighed the neptune greatsword in his hand and quickly figured out how to use it.

The neptune greatsword was slightly larger than a longsword, with a sky-blue blade and a deep-blue crossguard and hilt; it seemed to be forged from some kind of deep-sea cold iron supplemented with magic.

Its appearance was incomparably luxurious, like a precious work of art.

He had originally thought that after planting strawberry seeds on Spring 13th, he would have to run between King's Landing and the farm, busy with the City Watch and watering.

Crops had to be watered daily; if they weren't watered that day, they would stop growing.

This would delay the harvest date.

With the neptune greatsword, things were much simpler.

After Spring 13th, he would brave the 60th floor of the mines, mine copper and iron ore, and smelt them into Copper Bars and Iron Bars.

One Copper Bar and one Iron Bar could make a Basic Sprinkler.

Once the sprinklers were set up, daily watering would no longer be necessary.

It would liberate the farmer from some of the labor.

"I wonder how the Level 5 neptune greatsword compares to a valyrian steel sword?"

Daeron practiced with it for a while, sensing the significant difference between the weapons.

With the boost from his strength, the neptune greatsword could shatter a standard longsword with one strike.

It was said that valyrian steel swords could also do this.

Hmm... valyrian steel was lighter and could cut through armor.

A valyrian steel sword was probably superior.

After all, the neptune greatsword was only Level 5.

Before his joy could fade, footsteps were heard from a distance.

Daeron glanced over and put away the neptune greatsword.

As for the fishing treasure chest... after the items were removed, it crumbled into sawdust.

"Prince, the materials for building the castle have been transported. Lord Owen requests your presence."

Ser Jon spoke respectfully.

Daeron acted immediately.

It was a flat piece of land bordered by hills to the east, The Kingswood and the Blackwater Rush to the north and south, and an endless plain to the west.

White marble slabs were neatly stacked, and over a hundred stonemasons and laborers were waiting obediently.

Count Owen hurried to meet him: "Prince, what do you think of the location Ser Jon and I have chosen?"

"I am very satisfied."

Daeron looked around; indeed, he could find no fault with it.

His Princes Domain was vast, with several hills running east to west, forming a complex landscape of varied terrain with the Blackwater Rush, The Kingswood, and the East Coast beaches.

For the sake of convenient transportation, the hill where Dragon Language Farm was located was in the northeast of the Princes Domain.

It was not far from the Blackwater Rush and the beach.

However, this also ruled out the possibility of imitating King's Landing by building the castle along the coast.

The effect was the same.

King's Landing was on the north bank of the Blackwater Rush, and relying on the protection of Blackwater Bay, it had leaped into prominence as a port city.

The Princes Domain was on the south bank of the Blackwater Rush, at its swiftest estuary.

Given the size of the East Coast beach, at most a small pier could be built; it lacked the potential for a port city.

Therefore, it was fine for the castle to be located inland.

"The Hall of Plenty will be built here on The Bluegrass Hills first, and in the future, the town planning will develop toward the west."

Daeron spoke his thoughts.

The Bluegrass Hills were the hills that held the Dragon Language Farm, named after the unique blue grass of the Meadowlands Farm.

The Hall of Plenty was the name of the castle.

Compared to names like Summerhall or Raventree Hall, what he truly desired in his heart was fertile land and abundant products.

To allow him to grow more high-quality crops.

With the Hall of Plenty as the reference point, the town's center would be placed to the west.

He did not agree with his father Aerys's new city plan, but he was willing to use it as a blueprint for development.

The Princes Domain borders King's Landing to the north and possesses the excellent port of Blackwater Bay.

To the south was the vast Kingswood.

The noble lords of The Stormlands could not avoid passing through the Princes Domain to reach King's Landing.

This provided great trade liquidity.

Establishing a town to collect tolls could become a stable source of income.

Count Owen was stunned and reminded him: "Prince, building a castle takes a lot of time, and the town you mentioned..."

"It's unrealistic!"

"Where would the population and economy come from?"

"Just focus on building the Hall of Plenty first, and use all the materials."

Daeron said calmly, "As for the rest, there will be newcomers."

Although called a 'Hall,' it was actually in the style of a castle.

He had originally wanted to build a palace complex like Summerhall.

But considering that palaces consumed huge amounts of materials and were not very practical, he decisively gave up.

There were too many unruly people on the Westeros Continent.

He didn't want someone breaking into his bedroom while he was sleeping soundly at night.

The popularity of castles in the Middle Ages was based on their practicality in being sturdy and resistant to enemies.

As for the so-called newcomers... there were so many homeless wandering orphans in King's Landing.

Once he took office as the Deputy Commander of the City Watch, he could legitimately take in some of them.

Reclaiming wasteland, building houses, establishing markets... one step at a time.

With the backing of Dragon Language Farm, he was confident in creating a world-famous city in the Princes Domain.

"I understand what you mean."

Count Owen nodded solemnly.

Every noble territory was the result of the efforts of that noble family over generations.

He had clearly misinterpreted it.

Having finished his instructions, Daeron intended to leave.

Count Owen seized the moment and called someone over, saying hurriedly, "Prince, the architectural style of the castle is still up for discussion. Ser Alliser Thorne can provide you with suggestions."

Daeron sized up the newcomer.

He was about thirty years old, with a very sturdy build, lean and stern, with curly black-grey hair and sharp black eyes.

His appearance wasn't bad.

Unfortunately, he had a humorless face, and his high cheekbones and thin lips gave off a slightly mean impression.

"Who are you?"

Daeron asked first.

Alliser bowed and introduced himself: "Your Highness, I come from House Thorne of the Crownlands. I once defeated three men in a row at the Lannisport Tourney and was knighted."

He remembered who it was!

Daeron realized.

No wonder he seemed familiar; it was Alliser Thorne, the master-at-arms of the Nights Watch in the show.

The mean fellow who constantly called Snow by his name.

He had some impression of this man.

Alliser was a die-hard loyalist to the Targaryen Family, and House Thorne had served the royal family for generations.

During the Dance of the Dragons, Rickard Thorne, the Kingsguard who escorted Prince Maelor, was from this family.

During the War of the Usurper, Pycelle deceived his father Aerys and opened the gates of King's Landing.

Tywin led his army into the city and began a frantic sacking.

Alliser joined the resistance, fought to the last moment, and was captured alive and brought before Robert.

Between being beheaded and donning the black to join the Nights Watch.

Alliser chose to become a man of the Nights Watch.

He served for over a decade until he met Jon Snow, who knew nothing.

One could say this man was unlucky.

Jon Snow was clearly Rhaegar's bastard, making him a member of the Targaryens whom Alliser was sworn to protect (tentatively speaking).

But the main reason Alliser targeted Jon Snow was that he was officially the bastard of Ned Stark.

Looking at that grey-haired, long-faced Stark appearance, how could Alliser remain calm?

Ultimately, he took the wrong path.

"He is a useful person."

Having clarified the background, Daeron made a judgment in his heart.

Being able to see him through Count Owen, the other party's intention to seek refuge was clear.

"Let's talk while we walk, Ser."

Daeron smiled faintly.

"Yes, Prince!"

Alliser was overwhelmed by the favor, gripped the sword at his waist with his right hand, and followed the prince
