Chapter 7 - Losses and Gains (2)

Kushina stood in a simple circular room; across from her, sitting at a desk, was an old man whose face was gaunter.

He had light skin, grey hair, and wrinkles, a sign of his old age. Behind the man, several squared windows lined the circular room, letting light illuminate the room.

"What's wrong, old man?" Kushina asked, frowning as she looked at the old man's darkened face. 'Is this because I snuck out?' She couldn't help but think.

Sighing, the old man spoke up. "There's been a…situation," the old man said vaguely.

"What's the situation? Is it Minato?" Kushina asked worriedly.

"No, no, you know better than me; there's no reason to worry about that child. I doubt anyone in the shinobi world could threaten his life before he gets the chance to escape, including me," the old man said, his darkened face lighting up slightly as he smiled at the mention of the future of Konogakure, Minato.

"Then what is it?" Kushina asked skeptically.

Clearing his voice, the old man decided to get to the point. "5 minutes ago a spike in spiritual energy occurred at Konoha Hospital, and when we sent a team of three ANBU on a simple knowledge-gathering mission, they came back with...news." The old man said, picking up a brown folder from his desk and tossing it to Kushina, who caught it.

"Open it, but keep your calm when you do."

Kushina, hearing this, nodded absentmindedly, already opening the file and reading over its contents as her gaze traveled further and further down the page, emotions of surprise, confusion, and ultimately anger displayed on her face.

Looking up at the old man, glaring, a red aura surrounded Kushina as her hair, as if gaining life, floated menacingly.

Seeing this, two ANBU immediately appeared in the room, swords drawn, only to be stopped by the old man, his left hand raised.

"Stop, you can't beat her anyways," the old man said simply; he had already anticipated this reaction. It seems it hit a little too close to home.

"As you see, Hikaru, a product of an affair, is a level 8 like you, due to his near limitless spiritual energy, and we feared with that near-limitless energy he might awaken the Kurama clan Kekkei Genkai, and it seems he awakened something way worse." The old man said, ignoring the glare from the woman across from him.

"His mother, Kurama Himari, for unknown reasons, was put into a vegetative state the moment the boy was born, though we believe … the boy may have been the cause. Ever since then the boy has watched over his mother, doing anything for her, growing an attachment, and then—" the old man trailed off.

"She died," Kushina said angrily as she finished the old man's sentence; the old man hearing this simply nodded in agreement.

"What I want to know is why you would let a level 8 know why you would let a child be treated by the village like that, or instead of telling him about his abilities, you hid them, letting the hate fester and grow until he snapped,"

Kushina said, her voice carrying a hint of pain as she remembered the boy battered from being beat to a pulp and his eyes holding nothing as he buried his pain behind an emotionless facade.

"You don't understand, Kushina; it was necessary." the old man said, his face not even showing a flicker of remorse

"What was necessary about it, old man, huh? I at least had Grandma, Tsunade, Nawaki, and Minato. I had them. You gave him no one, and on top of that, he had to carry a burden and hatred with no love." Kushina shot back, her voice turning more monstrous as she talked.

"Calm down, Kushina; we are at war, and the boy, a weapon, a soldier, couldn't be allowed to grow unchecked. He needed limitation; he needed tempering to make sure he could handle it and still carry the will of fire despite it all.

Hatred and sorrow all limited him, making him malleable, a rough gem that just needed someone to help it sparkle. It just was that we were a bit too late." The old man said,

"Are you okay, Hiruzen? The boy isn't a weapon; he's a child! What if it were my child? What if they had the Kyubi and me an Minato were there? Would you let them suffer just for the sake of a loyal soldier? Limit his growth so he'd either serve your purpose or die. I can't believe you!" Kushina said a feral growl sounded.

"You can think of me how you want, Kushina, but the important thing is you need to resolve the issue at the hospital. The ANBU who went in could only describe it as a library, one with what seemed to be stars and planets.

And when they entered books, shot out chains, and tried to absorb them, they were not strong; anyone above Chunin could break out, but in a hospital full of weakened shinobi and medical nin, no one could escape.

Now, whether this is a Genjutsu or some completely unknown Kekkei Genkai, I don't know, but I know I need you to get in there and either calm him down, seal his power, or kill him." Hiruzen said,

"You've got to be kidding me; you want me to kill a child." Kushina scoffed.

"Only if it comes to it now. I suggest you go before the child does something worse, something he can't come back from," Hiruzen threatened slightly.

Kushina, hearing this, could only growl slightly as she flickered from the room. After she left, an ANBU appeared from the shadows, kneeling in front of Hiruzen.

"Do you think it will work, Sota?" Hiruzen asked.

Looking up Sota took off his dog mask; his round face and tanned olive skin showed.

"Yes, Hokage-sama, from my surveillance, I've gotten a good read on the 9-tails. Jinchuriki, I am almost certain she won't kill the boy; she'll feel and relate with him and will either try and take him in or at least try and foster a closer relationship with the boy, meaning he'll come into our fold." Sota said with a small smirk on his face,

"Good, you're dismissed," Hiruzen said as Sota fastened back on his mask, disappearing back into the shadows.

"Sorry, old friend, but checkmate." Hiruzen said as he turned his chair to the windows, his gaze locked on to an inconspicuous building at the edge of the village.

Kushina ran to the hospital, her face solemn, her thoughts running a million miles per hour as she thought about Hikaru.

Arriving at the hospital, Kushina noted the deserted streets and eerie atmosphere, taking a deep breath as she stepped into the hospital, her guard up.

Walking in Kushina was somewhat in awe at the towering bookcases and the sky, which looked like an artist's masterpiece.

"He did all this," Kushina thought in awe. Suddenly three books shot up, their pages flipped open as several chains shot out, wrapping around every inch of Kushina's body, trying to drag her into their respective spaces. Kushina, seeing this, analyzed the chains, trying to discern how they work.

"They're composed of spiritual energy? And those books, they seem tied to another space, but where is that space?" Kushina rationed calmly as the chains exerted force on her body.

"Whatever, I'm here for the kid, not to analyze his Kekkei Genkai," Kushina said, flexing her muscles slightly… 'What the,' she thought as the chains, which should have broken with a little bit of force from her, remained wrapped around her body.

"I'm weaker?" Kushina said, frowning, as she flexed her muscles again, this time with more force, causing the once-steady chains to break apart.

Out of the book's grasp, Kushina couldn't help but clench and unclench her hand as she analyzed her lost strength. "Around 5% without the kyubi's power," Kushina said, surprise evident in her voice.

The books, however, sensing their prey gone, spewed out more chains in an attempt to restrain Kushina. Kushina, seeing this, disappeared in a blur, reappearing in front of the closest book to her and punching it, then repeated the same process to the other two. The books dropping to the floor puffed into smoke and disappeared.

Kushina, looking at this process, noted it and continued heading down the pathway, attacking books along the way.

After a few minutes she arrived at the center of the library. In the middle was a table, and at it was Hikaru, whose clothes and nose were dyed with blood.

His eyes, visibly tired, were fixated on the space in front of him as if he were looking at something. On the table sat a yellow book with the image of a sunflower; beside it was a broken syringe with green liquid staining its glass.

"Hikaru? Are you okay? What are you looking at?" Kushina asked tentatively, seeing the boy simply stare into space, hearing someone's voice. Hikaru's eyes shot up, his guard up.

However, seeing the same red-haired woman who saved him, he unconsciously relaxed a bit. "You can't see it, huh?" he mumbled as he focused his eyes on the woman in front of him.

"Hello, Kushina. I take it you were the person sent to stop me." Hikaru said emotionlessly, his sea green eyes fixated on the woman as he sighed slightly.

Kushina, seeing those same cold, emotionless eyes, got emotionless. 'So even in the end I couldn't stop it,' she thought as she could see Hikaru's eyes were completely devoid of anything, like his last tie to life snapped.

"Yes," she could only say quietly as she walked over to the table Hikaru sat at, taking the seat across from him.

"And I take it you don't want to let them go and that this wasn't an accident." Kushina said, biting her lip. She knew by those eyes Hikaru understood what he did. "Well, you're half right; I have no problem freeing all but four people," Hiakru said simply.

"Four people?" Kushina asked in surprise, though a bit of happiness and disappointment welled up.

Hikaru at least seemed to have no intention to kill a hospital full of people, but to think a child would still have this type of mindset

"Yes, four—three doctors, and if he happened to still be in the hospital, the man who killed my mother. I want to kill them," Hikaru said with a completely emotionless voice, though his eyes held a glint.

"Killed your mother?" Kushina asked, surprised; she assumed the woman just died and her death caused Hikaru to lash out, blaming the doctors for her death.

"Yes, a man with this syringe ran into me after leaving my mother's room, and he may still be in this hospital, and if he is, he's trapped in those books, so when I know who he is, and I will, I'll kill him." Hikaru said calmly as he passed over the syringe to Kushina.

Kushina grabbed the syringe; her eyes widened, her fist instinctively closing in anger. 'So you did this…Danzo,' she thought as her eyes traced the symbol of the tree, her eyes landing on the outstretched roots.

S: heads up I really feel like this ch is bad so I'll most likely edit it eventually.

Ability Explanation (Warning its long): okay as stated Hikaru kekkei Genkai let's him do two things we're gonna focus on the first thing he can basically project/ bring out his mindscape.

How real it is, how long he can keep it up, the strength all depends on Spiritual energy and it requires a lot, Hikaru has a lot of spiritual energy but not a body to match-nor any control so the strain from using that much spiritual energy is way worse. it's also his first time using it to such a scale.

However he was able to bypass these restraints with inner who forcibly pushed his spiritual energy over the line so he could activate his kekkei Genkai but as you can see by the blood and tiredness this has it's disadvantages.

The mind is our domain our space what ever we imagine happens so the books and chains are simply creations from Hikaru's mind but just like how if not focused we loose thought process if attacked strong enough the creations self collapse unless specifically focused on

And tho it's a bit of a copout he can effectively do all this because he can do anything in his mind and if your in his mind your under his power. As you know the books store memories, ideas, etc so people now in Hikaru's mind effectively get trapped in the books and become memories, thoughts, and etc for Hikaru to view.

Please I know this was kinda complicated any questions please ask 🙏
