Chapter 9 - Chapter 9: Departure From Duke Mansion

With matters concerning Old Zhou finished, Yuhao also returned home.

His mother was already prepared to leave for her duties. He also got ready, and not long after, left again.

Today, it was going to be his last day at the workshop.

He had already resigned and had mentioned to the boss that he would only be able to work till the awakening.

He arrived there and informed Boss Min about his results. Upon hearing them, the boss was even more reluctant to let go, but still gave his congratulations, wishing him the best for his future.

Yuhao had worked hard at the workshop for two years, and as the only child there, no one stopped him from leaving to pursue his future.

After saying his farewells, he left the workshop behind, returning to the mansion and waiting for his mother at home.

Yun'er came back at night. Yuhao welcomed her, and after they ate dinner together, he decided it was time to talk to her.

'Old Zhou should have already talked to his mother,' he thought.

"Mom…" he called softly.

Yun'er stopped what she was doing and lifted her head, her eyes set on him, waiting for him to speak.

"I talked with Boss Min, told him about my awakening result."

"What did he say?" she inquired.

"He said that with my Spirit Eyes martial soul, the soul engineer path is best for me."

"He also said I have great talent for it… and that I shouldn't waste it."

Yuhao then paused for a second and asked a question, his tone hopeful as if asking for permission.

"Can I also go to the school?"

Yun'er paused and looked at him, a flicker of hesitation passing through her eyes.

Old Zhou has also said the same thing and then gave her some advice. His words were already on her mind.

'Did Old Man say something to Yuhao as well?' she thought.

'What should I do?'

From the moment Old Zhou had adopted her, she had lived in the mansion all her life.

This was the place where she fell in love and had her child.

'Could she really leave here?'

Yuhao has not even seen his father once. If that was ever going to happen, this was going to be the place.

'But does that possibility even exist anymore?' she questioned herself.

She wasn't sure anymore.

If Yuhao could have a white tiger martial soul, then he might have had a chance.

'But now, does Yuhao really have any future here?'

'Is there any worth staying here?'

If it had been only herself, then she could have spent her entire life, but now that she had a child, she also had to think from the perspective of his future.

She could even waste her whole life, but could she also sacrifice Yuhao's life?

After years of waiting, she also, to some extent, understood that her love was a lie. Duke White Tiger would never accept them. This is even more true now that Yuhao does not possess his martial soul.

Is she really going to sacrifice her child's future for some illusory hope that might never come true?

The more she thought, the more her mind started to shift. Love was probably the most beautiful thing in her life at one point, but it was no longer the case. Her child had taken an even higher position than her love.

'But is it really possible to just leave. I should ask Uncle Zhou about this' she thought internally.

She looked at Yuhao's face and replied.

"Let me think about it. I'll talk with Uncle Zhou, and we'll decide."

Although she said it, she had already made her choice.

She now needed to make necessary preparations. So that they could easily settle in a new place.

The next day, she went to Old Zhou and told him about her decision and also asked him for advice.

Old Zhou was relieved. He had tried to convince her in the past, but had failed. Now it seemed to him that Yun'er had come to her mind.

He told her that he would arrange the travel. And also warned her about the consideration she should take.

They should not tell anyone about their departure or where they are going. If the duchess knew, she might come after them.

Yuhao had already told him where he wanted to go, and Old Zhou had agreed with the choice. It was far away from here.

More importantly, he knew about a caravan that went to that place, so he could easily arrange for them to go safely alongside it.

Old Zhou made all preparation in a day and came to see them again the next day. It was already night. He told them about the plan.

The caravan would depart in three days, and he gave them tickets that he had already purchased.

He also advised that they should change their name and alter their appearance. So that they do not leave behind a trail.

For the next three days, Yuhao and Yun'er didn't show any outward change and just passed their time normally.

There wasn't much to pack, as it was really inconvenient to travel with a lot of things. So they only took the most essential things and decided to leave everything else behind.

Finally, the day of their departure arrived.

Yuhao and Yun'er got ready and left their home. No one stopped them, and they simply passed through the front gate of the mansion.

Just from looking, no one could tell that they were permanently leaving.

On the way, they stopped at a place where, using makeup, they changed their appearance and clothes. The two people who went in and came out were now vastly different.

With all preparation done, they went towards the location of the departing caravan. Old Zhou had already sent their luggage beforehand.

They found their carriage, their things already there. They sat within it and settled down.

After some time, the caravan got ready to leave and, with a last call, finally departed towards its destination.

It was evening when the carriage passed through the city gates.

They looked towards the city that they were leaving behind. They had already bid farewell to Old Zhou. Beyond him, they had no more ties left.

Yuhao and Yun'er gazed at the setting sun, and a serene emotion rose within them.

A chapter in their life was also ending today, and tomorrow, with sunrise, it will also be a new dawn for them.

A new life and a hopeful future.
