After Sengoku's order, Gion, Tokikake, and Garp went to the New World to help Aokiji. Garp was in a bad mood and cursed Sengoku many times for sending him on this mission, because he finally had a brilliant idea how to make Ace and Luffy become Marines. Thinking about this, his mood became even worse. And when a pirate ship appeared on the horizon, Garp, without thinking, grabbed a cannonball with one hand as if it were a toy. He quickly launched it into the air toward the pirates over the sea. This went on for a while, and seeing Garp in this state, neither Aokiji, Gion, nor Tokikake stopped him, allowing him to continue. The pirates of the New World became, unknowingly, toys for Garp.
Sengoku called Akainu to himself and explained the plan: KAI would stay in North Blue for another two or three years. Akainu agreed, and then contacted Kai to tell him about it. When Kai heard this, he was surprised and remained silent for several minutes, then agreed and said to Akainu that he would patiently wait for that day. Days passed like this, and then news came that there was also a war in North Blue — Marines versus pirates and the mafia. Upon hearing this, people were surprised and wanted to know what had happened, but they were too late, because Sengoku and Akainu had done everything to remove all information about Kai, leaving only that some pirates and mafia had united to show their strength and attacked the Marines. In response, Rear Admiral Yamakaji gathered all the Marine forces in North Blue and attacked them. People believed this and soon forgot about it, as their attention was still focused on the chaos in the New World.
Six years passed this way. Back on Kai's ship, he recalled these events and smiled faintly, because finally, the day had come when he would depart for Marineford. That morning, Akainu called and said he would personally pick him up. This put Kai in a very good mood. He removed the white eye patch Akainu had given him when they first met and had worn all this time, allowing the wind to blow on his face and hair. Behind him, the Senior Lieutenant's cloak fluttered, and he remained like this for several minutes.
Suddenly, his fog warned him that someone was approaching. Then he heard the voice of a young man:
"Kai, why do you look so happy?"
This was Jim, who had teased him in the cafeteria and later was scolded by Momonga during the war. Kai had helped him in battles several times and even saved him using his fog. After the war, Jim apologized to Kai for the teasing, and after Kai forgave him, they became good friends. Now Jim, a Junior Lieutenant, joined Kai on his ship. Kai's crew now consisted of him, Jim, and fifty sailors.
Kai put his eye patch back on, turned toward where he felt Jim, and smiled:
"Yes, I think today the weather is very nice."
Hearing this, Jim snorted:
"Really? I thought you'd be happy that Admiral Akainu himself is coming to pick you up at Marineford."
Kai laughed heartily, not denying it, because he had also been waiting for this day. Although he always trained, it quickly became boring — he wanted a real battle against pirates or mafia. But now, in North Blue, no pirates remained; those who had existed were all either defeated or scattered, making them hard to find. That's why he always sparred with Yamakaji. Although Yamakaji had been stronger than Kai before, after Kai became stronger, even Yamakaji could no longer match him.
Thinking about this, Kai's fog again warned him about someone approaching. After a few minutes, a sailor came running in, bowed quickly, and said:
"Senior Lieutenant Kai, Junior Lieutenant Jim! Urgent news! Rear Admiral Yamakaji called recently. He reported that a dangerous pirate attacked one of the Marine bases in North Blue, killing all the Marines stationed there."
Hearing this, Kai and Jim frowned, realizing that this pirate could be from the Grand Line or even the New World. They continued listening. The sailor added:
"Rear Admiral ordered all Marines to be cautious and to immediately request help if they find this pirate."
When the sailor finished, Kai was the first to speak:
"Do we know who this pirate is?"
The sailor shook his head.
Jim looked at Kai and asked:
"What do we do?"
Kai:
"What do we do? Of course, we find that bastard who dared kill the Marines."
Jim nodded. Kai immediately began giving orders to his crew on how to manage the ship.
Several hours passed when suddenly Kai received an alarm signal from a Marine ship.
Jim:
"Kai, the alarm is coming from an island. I think it's that pirate again."
Kai:
"Good. Jim, how far is the island, and how quickly can we get there?"
Jim:
"Not far from us. I think about an hour."
Kai nodded, grabbed his Den Den Mushi, and quickly called Yamakaji.
Yamakaji:
"Mushu Mushu, this is Yamakaji. What happened, Kai?"
Kai:
"Yamakaji-san, we received an alarm from a Marine ship. I think it's that pirate. We are heading there now."
Yamakaji:
"Good, Kai. I will also inform everyone to go there quickly. Be careful, I sense that this pirate is not simple."
Kai faintly smiled:
"Don't worry, I'll be careful."
He then firmly grasped his sword, feeling that this would be extremely dangerous.
On the island
On the shore, they saw burning Marine ships. Among the wreckage were many dead Marines. One of the survivors quickly grabbed his Den Den Mushi, trying to call for help. But suddenly, a huge hand grabbed him and lifted him. Seeing the eyes of this person, the Marine was filled with fear and horror.
The person looked at the Marine and then slammed him against the ground several times until he stopped. He looked at the Marine, now lifeless, blood spilling everywhere. He let go, and the Marine fell to the ground like a puppet without strings.
The person scanned the sea, frowned, and said:
"What the hell is going on here? Is this North Blue, or did I mistake it for East Blue? Why is it so quiet here?"
