The final section of the game was being guarded by a giant gate. It looked tough to open and Clara immediately volunteered to open it.
"Heh-! Looks like my immense strength will finally come to use. Stand back, you all. I will force it open now."
She used a lot of force, but now that they had the key, the gate opened at the slightest touch.
Clara immediately lost her balance once the door opened and Andrew immediately reached to grab her and pull her back before she could fall down the cliff.
"Woah-! That's…a huge fall. So, does anyone know how we are supposed to get to the other side?"
Clara asked once she regained her balance. Her heart thundered in her chest at the close call she just had.
"There should be some stairs nearby. The map shows them…this way."
Lilianna pointed out as she kept looking at the map. The trio eventually found the stairs but it was not a pleasing sight.
"These are so narrow. A single misstep would cost us our lives. Do we really have to put ourselves in danger like this?"
Clara asked in a worried voice. Due to her excessive strength, she was worried about quickly losing her balance.
Andrew understood her fear, so he volunteered to be the first one to cross. He took out an extremely long rope from his inventory and immediately tied it to an extremely stable rock.
"I will go and tie it to the other side first. That way, both of you can cross safely."
Both Lilianna and Clara had a pinched expression on their faces, and Andrew grabbed the other end of the rope before he carefully made his way to the other side.
He had trained his body to maintain balance, a sudden gust of wind tried to knock him down, but he used mind magic to quickly stabilize himself and he made his way to the other side.
The rope was tied to the other side quickly and he gave the other two a nod. Finally, Clara and Lilianna started to cross as well and made it all the way across to the other side.
"Are you both alright? Do you need to rest for a little while?"
Andrew asked as he saw their pale faces.
"I am fine… Alright, I am not fine. But I am a little shaken. I just need…some time to calm down. I don't think I can even use my abilities right now."
Lilianna complained as she tried to use her skill, but she failed.
One's mental state could affect their ability to use their abilities, so Andrew had anticipated this happening.
And this was also the reason he had decided not to help Lilianna and Clara cross using his magic. They needed to get over their fears and develop a tolerance to such things if they wanted to improve.
"I…think I am fine now. What about you, Clara?"
"I am fine as well. We should get moving now."
The two females decided this after a while and the trio started to head forward once more. Slowly but surely, they were getting close to the 'special item' that was needed to end this round.
The arch marked the entrance to the last room and Andrew immediately looked at the map before looking at the 'special item' displayed right in the middle of the room.
"Hey, that's—"
"Lilianna, wait a second."
Andrew pulled her back before Lilianna could make her way across the arch. Her foot crossed the line and a large claw tried to catch her…but she was already pulled back by Andrew before it could get her.
"What the heck is that?"
Clara asked as she finally caught up and looked at the arch as well.
"It is likely a monster waiting for the final constants to show up. Tsk, I knew it was not going to be easy. No wonder the system gave us two lives. One was likely because we are supposed to die at the monster's hand once before we learn of its existence."
Andrew commented as he looked at the arch as well.
"So, what do we do? We don't have enough lives left…"
Clara asked.
"Should I sacrifice my life here? I have a spare…"
Lilianna questioned but Andrew shook his head.
"There is no need to do that at the moment. I have…a solution for our problem this time."
He told the other two before he took out a can of fragrance out of his inventory and marked it with an exploding spell as well.
"Get ready to run as soon as I give you the signal."
Andrew warned the other two before he threw the can far away. Immediately, a few shadows flew after the can to try and get it.
"Let's go now."
He told the others while also forming a shield around them all. They quickly ran toward the special item that was kept in the center of the arena.
The monsters that had ran after him quickly noticed this and immediately turned to head their way. But Andrew immediately detonated his spell, causing fragrance to spill out and confuse the monsters.
"Shit-! They are still heading this way. I don't think we can avoid their attack. I will block them, since I have an extra life."
Lilianna announced and she quickly changed directions to face the monsters. Since she was closer, the monsters also turned their attention toward her.
"Lilianna, don't—"
Clara opened her mouth to warn Lilianna before realizing that it was useless. It would be far more useful for Lilianna if they managed to complete this game.
The monsters smacked into Andrew's shield before tearing it apart. He knew that he would not be able to keep it up, but he still wanted to extend Lilianna's time as much as possible.
"I will be fine. Just hurry—"
She assured as the monster attacked her. She managed to dodge and heal herself at the same time, but the monster quickly got to her.
Andrew dropped his barrier completely and used it to propel him toward the center of the room as quickly as possible.
"Clara, get ready to grab the special item. We'll get one chance to zoom past it. We cannot miss that chance."
Andrew warned her and Clara gulped in nervousness before she nodded.
"A-Alright, I got it…."
