The rain continued to fall outside as the tension inside the cabin grew heavier with every passing second, and not long after Su Long was laid down properly, hurried footsteps sounded at the door before a village physician was ushered inside by the Head Guard, his clothes damp from the storm but his expression calm and focused.
The physician moved straight to Su Long's side, setting his bag down carefully as he glanced at her pale face and the bandage already wrapped around her injured head, then he lifted his hand slightly and spoke in a firm but respectful tone, asking everyone in the room to step outside so he could examine her properly without disturbance.
Fu Sheng hesitated immediately.
He stood where he was, his eyes fixed on Su Long's still face, his body tense as though leaving her side was something he simply could not do, no matter the reason.
