Chapter 48 - CHAPTER

"Fuck you!"

The words left my mouth before I could even think about them, my anger burning so fiercely that I did not care who heard me, did not care how shocked their faces looked as the rain poured heavily around us.

I stepped forward, my chest rising and falling.

"You sent two women out into this storm," I said, my voice shaking with disbelief, "and you expect me to stand here calmly as though that makes any sense?"

Aunt Fu's eyes narrowed instantly.

"They are not children."

"That is not the point," I snapped, my frustration rising. "Rain this heavy with slippery ground everywhere and somehow you thought it was a good idea to send them outside?"

Uncle Fu frowned. "We needed firewood."

"And that required risking their safety?" I shot back. "If it was truly that important, why did you not send your daughter instead?"

The air seemed to freeze.

Fu Jia stiffened.

Aunt Fu's face darkened. "Watch your words, Su Long."
