Chapter 29 - Chapter 29

Chapter 29

If the mutant wolves were still within their range of understanding, the monsters that appeared now were completely beyond imagination.

Bizarre, disgusting, terrifying…

Creatures that made one's skin crawl at first glance lunged straight toward the man's family.

Then came the horrifying screams and tearing sounds, making everyone else's scalp tingle.

These Cthulhu-style mutated beasts were plagiarized by Ye Yu from an ability user he had once defeated.

He had discovered that these particular monsters were extremely effective at inducing fear in others.

Watching his loved ones get brutally slaughtered by the terrifying creatures one after another, the man collapsed to his knees.

His whole body shook, his expression twisted.

Tears and snot mixed together.

As he watched his child slowly die, the man erupted like a madman.

He stood up and pointed at Ye Yu, roaring:

"Why?! You devil! You already have such overwhelming power—why do you still bully ordinary people like us? Even if we did something wrong, you should hand us over to the police!"

At that moment, the middle-aged man suspended in the air glared at Ye Yu with extreme ferocity.

"You butcher! We did let greed get the better of us—we wronged you and tried to extort money! But our families are innocent! If you have a problem, come at me! Why did you kill my father?! You bastard, you filthy dog—you'll die horribly!"

The man who had just castrated himself trembled all over as he looked at Ye Yu.

"I did wrong you—but how can you be so cruel?! That was my last child! He's only 12 years old—what did he do wrong?! My father worked himself to the bone his whole life—now that it's my turn to take care of him, you slaughtered him! You butcher—you're utter scum!"

The woman still clutched her ruined eye socket in agony; the sudden catastrophe had already broken her mind somewhat.

Ye Yu sat lightly on the chair, smiling as he watched them.

"You didn't wrong me. Your sons really were killed by me."

Everyone froze.

Only now did it hit them— with this person's godlike abilities, creating lightning wouldn't be difficult at all!

"Then why are you doing this to us?! You're the one who was wrong! Why are you still…?"

Ye Yu cut him off before he could finish.

"Because it makes me happy."

The others' expressions froze again.

What the hell was this man saying? Just because it makes him happy—so he kills all these people?

"Do you even know what you're saying? Just because it makes you happy, you slaughter so many people?!"

"Isn't that reason enough?"

In Ye Yu's eyes, bullying him because he was an orphan was no different from him bullying them with his power. The essence was the same—so there was nothing for them to complain about when they died.

Then the Cthulhu beasts and giant wolves charged toward the remaining people.

Watching their loved ones become food for the monsters right in front of them, they could do nothing but roar helplessly.

All they could do was kneel in agony…

In the blink of an eye, only the four players remained.

Their minds had completely shattered.

They sat on the ground like empty shells, eyes lifeless.

"Really boring. You've lost your families, your homes are broken, wives and children scattered— but you still need to be strong. After all, you still have 10 billion yen. With that money, you can do whatever you want!"

Perhaps the magic of money worked— a faint spark returned to their eyes.

But in the next second, something far more despairing than despair itself happened!

The massive stack of cash instantly transformed into a writhing swarm of insects.

They crawled toward the four, slowly surrounding and devouring them.

Long after, the pure white space gradually faded.

All the creatures within it vanished.

Only fragments of corpses and torn clothing remained.

As if silently telling the story of what had just happened here!

Looking at the finished scene, Ye Yu's lips curved upward slightly.

Revenge really does improve the mood.

Next up—time to go find Karuizawa Kei. After doing so much for her, it's about time I got some reward, right?

After finishing a day of classes, Karuizawa Kei said goodbye to her classmates and walked home in an excellent mood.

Strange things had been happening lately—several classmates had gone missing, and two people who once bullied her had been hit by trucks and killed!

But what did any of that have to do with her?

Now she was no longer mysteriously targeted. Everyone looked at her with kindness. Even those who used to bully her came to sincerely apologize.

This was the school life she had always dreamed of!

Just as she walked home with a smile on her face, a familiar figure appeared in front of her.

"Ye Yu—it's you?"

Karuizawa looked at him in surprise, the corners of her mouth already rising uncontrollably.

Since they parted that day, they hadn't seen each other. They'd only exchanged a few calls and messages.

But toward this boy who had saved her and promised to protect her, Karuizawa truly felt deep fondness.

"Of course it's me! You really do look best when you smile. You've been happy lately, right?"

Karuizawa's cheeks flushed. She didn't know how to respond.

"I came all the way to your house—aren't you going to invite me in for a glass of water?"

Karuizawa hesitated. It wasn't that she was afraid Ye Yu was a bad person. She was worried her alcoholic father might be home. If he saw her bring a male classmate back, he might do something outrageous.

Noticing her concern, Ye Yu smiled gently.

"Don't worry—there's no one home right now."

Karuizawa breathed a sigh of relief and led Ye Yu toward the house.

Only then did it hit her.

"Wait—this is my house. How do you know no one's home? And how do you even know where I live? You're not some pervert, are you?!"

Even as she said it, she didn't stop walking.

She opened the door. Ye Yu entered as naturally as if it were his own home and sat directly on the sofa.

Karuizawa set her schoolbag down and stared at him curiously.

Ye Yu felt a little awkward under her gaze.

"Is there something on my face? You're staring so intently."

"It was you, wasn't it? Everything that's been happening at school—you did it, right?"

Under Karuizawa's expectant eyes, Ye Yu smiled and nodded.

"How do you like the gift I gave you? Happy with it?"

Hearing that, Karuizawa looked into Ye Yu's eyes with newfound gentleness.

Her big, watery eyes seemed to hold a thousand unspoken words.

Finally, they all condensed into one sentence.

"Why are you so good to me?"

In a normal anime protagonist's script, he would probably give a tsundere explanation: It's not because I like you or anything—it's just because of some reason…

But unfortunately, Ye Yu wasn't a normal protagonist.

He stepped close to Karuizawa, gazing at her tenderly.

"Of course it's because I like you. What other reason could there be?"

Karuizawa's face turned bright red. Her heart beat faster than ever before.

Is this… a confession?

Then Ye Yu slowly leaned down. Their faces drew closer and closer.

Karuizawa could clearly feel his breath.

Just as Ye Yu was about to kiss her—the door suddenly burst open.

"Damn girl, are you home yet?!"

A slurred shout rang out.

A disheveled middle-aged man appeared in the living room.

Hearing her father's voice, Karuizawa felt her heart nearly stop.

She tried to push Ye Yu away, but in the next second—what she never expected happened.

Ye Yu wrapped his arms around her tightly.
