Chapter 10: The Moonlit Vow
The wedding in the village square was a masterpiece of peace. After all the fighting and the traps, Redpaveley had finally quieted down to honor the union of Blood and Fur. There were no villains in the shadows, no silver spears—only the soft glow of paper lanterns and the smell of pine.
I stood at the altar, watching Wolfie walk toward me. She looked breathtaking in her silver-threaded gown, her eyes shining with a love that made my cold vampire heart feel like it was finally beating again. When we exchanged the rings—the obsidian and the moonstone—I felt a bond snap into place that was stronger than any contract.
"I am yours," I whispered as I kissed her under the light of the full, white moon.
"And you are mine," she replied, her smile radiant enough to outshine the stars.
The wedding night was a dream of quiet recovery and soft whispers. We stayed in our new cottage, tucked away near the edge of the woods. For the first time in my life, I didn't feel like I was running from something. I was home.
The next morning, we returned to the Academy. We walked through the gates hand-in-hand, the gold embroidery on our uniforms signifying our new status as a married couple. The students looked at us with a mix of awe and respect. We had survived the Red Moon; we were the heroes of the Academy. And I heard seraphina had submitted her transfer letter and leaved with her father to another place, Her father was a Council representative of angel nation he was embarrassed by the acts of seraphina ,what she did behind their back was already reported by my father, And he told me that they got transferred to another place as a punishment and for marcus he got punished by staying in cellar every night, only for one month ,I guess his father pleaded for him and with his promise of" I will discipline him well from now on" must have got silas ,silas give him the punishment as a warning ,one last chance for him just because his father is silas second uncles son, I didnt care about this , After thinking of everything Just happens ,I came to reality .we were walking towards our lockers.
But as we approached our lockers, the peaceful atmosphere was shattered by a high-pitched, demanding voice.
"Drayan! There you are!"
A girl was standing by my locker, surrounded by several expensive-looking suitcases. She was dressed in a flashy, neon-pink city outfit that looked completely out of place in the rustic Academy. She had her arms crossed, her foot tapping impatiently.
I blinked, trying to place the face. "Who are you?"
The girl gasped, clutching her chest as if I'd stabbed her. "Who am I? Drayan, how could you! It's me, Bianca! From the City Socials! We were practically destined to be together!"
I frowned, looking at Wolfie, who was already beginning to growl low in her throat. "I've seen you at maybe two parties, Bianca. We've never even had a full conversation."
"Details!" Bianca waved her hand dismissively, stepping into my personal space and ignoring Wolfie entirely. "I heard you were forced into this... quaint... little marriage with a local, and I simply couldn't let you suffer. I've come to rescue you! I told everyone back home that we were basically engaged before you left."
Wolfie stepped forward, her eyes flashing amber. The "cheerful girl" disappeared, replaced by the protective Alpha's wife. "Excuse me? He's not being rescued, and he's definitely not engaged to you. We are married. Legally, spiritually, and permanently."
Bianca finally looked at Wolfie, her lip curling in a pout. "Oh, you must be the 'Wolfie' girl. You're cute, I guess, for someone who lives in the dirt. But Drayan is a City Vampire. He needs someone with class, someone who knows which fork to use at a gala. He probably just told you he didn't have an ex-girlfriend because he didn't want to hurt your feelings."
"I didn't have an ex-girlfriend because I didn't have a girlfriend at all until her," I said firmly, my voice turning icy. "Bianca, you were a girl who followed me around the library and sent me letters I never opened. You aren't my ex. You're a stranger who doesn't know when to take a hint."
Bianca's eyes welled with fake tears. She turned to the crowd of students who were now watching the drama. "See? He's so traumatized by this village life that he's repressing our memories! Don't worry, Drayan, I'm moving into the dormitory today. I'll make sure you remember our 'love' soon enough."
Wolfie's hand curled into a fist, her claws lengthening. "If you touch my husband, Bianca, you'll find out exactly how 'quaint' a werewolf's bite can be."
Bianca just giggled, blowing a kiss toward me before picking up one of her bags. "See you in Arcane History, darling! And don't worry, I brought the city-blend coffee you love!"
As she strutted away, Wolfie turned to me, her face a mask of frustration and bubbling jealousy. "A stranger? She has three suitcases, Drayan! She thinks she's your soulmate!"
"She's delusional, Wolfie," I said, reaching out to cup her face. "I swear to you, there was never anyone else. She was just a girl who wouldn't stop bothering me at the city galas."
Wolfie huffed, leaning into my hand, but her eyes were still fixed on the back of Bianca's pink head. "I don't like her. She smells like expensive perfume and lies. If she tries to 'rescue' you one more time, I'm going to lose my mind."
"Then we'll lose it together," I promised. "But she's not going to ruin us. No one is."
