Chapter 10 - Chapter 10: Quiet Things That Hurt the Most

Morning sunlight slipped through the café window 🌤️—

like it was sneaking in to witness the disaster.

Sasha and Mochi stood in the middle of the living room.

Staring.

At war.

🍾 Empty bottles everywhere

🍿 Snacks crushed into the floor

🧺 Laundry basket upside down

👟 One shoe hanging from the ceiling fan

And in the center of this chaos—

Barfi, Walter, and Hawk slept on the floor

in three completely different angles 💤

like a glitchy video game paused at the worst frame.

Sasha sighed deeply.

"Are they dead…?" 😐

Mochi poked Walter with a broom 🧹.

Walter snorted.

"Don't touch my map…" 😴

and rolled back into sleep.

Mochi groaned.

"They are useless. Completely useless."

The girls started cleaning—

stacking bottles like soldiers forming ranks 🪖🍾.

🚪 CHAOS RETURNS 🚪

BANG! 💥

The front door burst open.

Laddu stormed in, hair messy, eyes blazing, backpack half-open 🎒🔥.

"MOOOOCHIIIIII!! LET'S GO!!" 🗣️

Mochi froze mid-clean.

"…Go where?"

Laddu puffed his chest proudly.

"HOME!"

Everyone stared.

Barfi jolted awake 😳.

Walter rolled in fear 😨.

Hawk sat up like a vampire rising 🧛‍♂️.

Sasha whispered,

"Oh God… he's awake…"

Mochi raised an eyebrow.

"Why home? What happened now?"

Laddu placed a hand on his heart.

"Mochi…"

"Your father is pregnant." 🤰

🧠 SYSTEM CRASH 🧠

Silence.

Pure silence.

Even the ceiling fan paused out of respect.

Barfi blinked.

"…Huh?"

Hawk rubbed his temples.

"No… no… my brain is not ready…"

Walter screamed,

"WHAT KIND OF FAMILY IS THIS!?" 😱

A bottle slipped from Sasha's hand.

CRASH.

Mochi's face turned into a question mark.

"…My father… is WHAT?"

Laddu nodded confidently.

"Yes! Pregnant! I checked Google!"

Everyone screamed together:

"WHAT GOOGLE ARE YOU USING!?" 📱💀

Laddu blinked.

"Oh wait."

He slapped his forehead.

"I meant—

your mother is pregnant." 🤦

Silence again.

Barfi whispered,

"We are living in a simulation…"

Hawk muttered,

"Please… take him away…"

Walter laughed once—and fainted.

Mochi threw her broom down.

"WHY DID YOU SAY IT BACKWARDS!?"

"I woke up excited!" Laddu shrugged.

"Information got shuffled."

Mochi covered her face.

"My family will kill me…"

Laddu grabbed her hand dramatically 🤝.

"We must go!

NOW!

My work is done here!"

Hawk stared.

"What work!? You created problems!"

Barfi stood up slowly.

"Laddu… are you leaving again…?"

Laddu nodded.

"Yes, brother."

"But I'll be back."

Walter saluted from the floor.

"Bring snacks."

Sasha muttered,

"And bring a brain…"

Laddu patted Barfi's shoulder.

"Take care.

And don't die.

If you die, I will kill you."

Barfi nodded seriously.

"I won't die."

🚆 GOODBYE PLATFORM 🚆

Mochi grabbed her small suitcase 🧳.

"Let's go before my dad learns he's 'pregnant.'"

Everyone shivered.

At the station, the train horn echoed 🚆📢.

Mochi waved from the door 👋.

Barfi stood with Hawk, Walter, and Sasha.

"Stay safe," Mochi said softly.

Barfi nodded shyly.

"You too…"

Laddu leaned out dramatically.

"BARFI!!"

"WHAT!?"

"IF ANYTHING HAPPENS—

CALL ME!"

Barfi smiled.

"Always."

The train pulled away.

Mochi waved until she disappeared.

Walter sniffed.

"Hmmm… emotional."

Hawk nodded.

"A little."

Barfi exhaled.

"…We survived another day."

🚓 BACK TO REALITY 🚓

Hawk walked into the police station still half-dead inside.

Officers saluted.

He ignored them.

A voice shouted:

"When I catch Walter Blue—

I am putting him in JAIL!"

Hawk muttered,

"He'll walk in himself."

Laughter followed.

☕ QUIET CAFÉ MOMENTS ☕

Later, the trio sat in the café.

Hawk drank tea like an angry wolf 🐺☕.

Walter ate samosas like a vacuum cleaner 🥟💨.

Barfi wiped tables, lost in thought.

Walter wiped his mouth.

"You have two months off, right?"

"Yes… but my fees are pending."

Walter nearly choked.

"What!? Why didn't you tell me!?"

"What would you do? Sell your shoes?"

"This shoe worth $20!" 👞

Hawk whispered,

"That's not comforting."

Walter leaned closer.

"I can ask someone—"

"No need," Barfi said softly.

"Laddu already paid it."

Walter blinked.

"How?"

Barfi smiled sadly.

"He never says anything."

"But problems disappear."

Walter nodded.

"He is good."

Barfi whispered,

"When I become a doctor…"

"I will never charge him."

"Not even one dollar."

Walter smiled.

"He'll scold you."

Barfi laughed.

"I'll still do it."

Behind the counter, Sasha pretended to clean the same cup again.

She whispered,

"…I wish I had that kind of boyfriend."

Barfi looked up.

"What?"

"NOTHING! CUPS!"

Walter leaned in loudly.

"She talking about you—"

SMACK. 🧻

Towel to face.

Barfi blushed.

Hawk smirked.

"Love stories are more dangerous than psychos."

🎁 THE QUIET GIFT 🎁

That night, Barfi entered his room.

And froze.

Bags.

Big bags.

Small bags.

Fancy bags.

At least twenty 🎒🎁.

Each tagged:

"For Barfi."

Inside—

👕 Clothes

⌚ Watch

🧴 Perfume

👞 Shoes

💊 Medicine

💰 Wallet with money

A note:

"Take care of yourself, idiot."

Barfi sat on his bed.

Surrounded.

He picked up the watch.

On the back:

"For my brother."

His eyes burned.

"…Laddu…"

He whispered:

"One day…"

"When I become a doctor…"

"I'll repay you."

"Not with money…"

"But by taking care of you."

Barfi lay back, staring at the ceiling.

For the first time in a long time—

He felt safe.

And loved. ❤️
