Chapter 30 - Inquisitive Gaze

Nyxara finished preparing for an hour. Myles, on the other hand, didn't prepare at all, aside from folding all his clothes and pushing them in the Velour Coffin Satchel of Nyxara.

Nyxara and Myles only used a single bag, which was the Velour Coffin Satchel—the only traveling bag Nyxara had.

After all, it was the most expensive traveling bag her mother gifted to her.

It was a rigid, coffin-shaped leather satchel reinforced with velour ruby seams that faintly pulse.

In other words, it was an artifact.

It had internal pocket space equal to a small room. It also automatically sterilizes anything placed inside.

It was also an artifact that the Velmoryss city mass-produced and sold for other nobles.

After Nyxara was finished, she glanced at her watch—made out of a face of an alive demon, with eyes blinking every second and tongue rotating at the same rhythm.

She panicked and turned to Myles.

"We have to go now."

Myles rolled his eyes and said, "I was ready an hour ago."

However, Nyxara didn't even bother arguing with him as she opened the door and hastily returned to her mother's office.

Myles sighed and followed her. Though, he was surprised he had to expend as much stamina for continuous bursts of speed just to keep up with Nyxara, while carrying Velour Coffin Satchel.

Once Nyxara and Myles arrived in front of the door leading to her mother's office, the Commander was standing outside.

The Commander bowed. "Don't worry, Mistress. Your mother had not called your presence yet and the Guardian of Scarlet Bond remained inside."

Nyxara heaved a sigh of relief as she nodded. "Thank you, my Bloodsworn. May I enter now?"

"Certainly, Mistress. Your mother has not instructed me to prohibit you from entering inside."

He opened the door and Nyxara and Myles entered.

As soon as the door was opened, The Lady of Chains and Whisphered Vows and the Scarlet of Guardian Bond's conversation were abruptly halted as they simultaneously turned their heads towards the door.

Nyxara, wearing a new proper dress, and Myles wearing just his red skin, entered.

Nyxara felt awkward and bowed.

"I'm sorry. I'm late."

"Oh, not that much, my dear little Mistress." The Guardian of Scarlet Bond giggled.

The Lady of Chains and Whisphered Vows assured her daughter. "We have not even finished talking yet, but since you both are ready, I will have to prepare the carriage for you."

"My Bloodsworn."

The Commander suddenly appeared beside her with his right palm placed on his left chest while bowing.

"Yes, Lady of Chains and Whispered Vows."

"Prepare the royal carriage for them. Be their coachman. I'm fine here."

The Commander was surprised. However, he did not dare to question his master's order and bowed deeper.

"Orders received, Lady of Chains and Whisphered Vows."

"Mhm." His master nodded.

The Commander suddenly vanished, causing Myles' eyes to glint in surprise.

He thought. So, he was still holding back on our duel, huh? I wonder how strong he is.

Myles wondered. At the same time, he also realized the difference in power between his combat power against a knight.

He had to surpass the Commander before he would even think of conquering nobles.

He was only lucky he conquered Nyxara, who lacked combat power as she was trained with supporting her mother in taking care of the city.

As he was lost in thoughts, he felt the gaze of the Guardian of Scarlet Bonds and his hair stood on ends.

The Guardian of Scarlet Bonds said, "Oh, my dear little dear mistress, how could you neglect your knight? Haven't you given him any armor at all? Look at the Blood Knights, they are covered from head to toe. The armor they wore made them who they are.

If the other nobles see your knight wandering around in the Royal Academy, they might kick him out, my dear little dear mistress."

Nyxara was utterly surprised. She glanced at Myles and whispered, "I'm sorry, I didn't know."

Myles smiled. "It's fine."

Nyxara felt apologetic as she turned towards her mother, hesitating.

The Guardian of Scarlet Bonds suddenly exploded into a hoot of laughter.

The Lady of Chains and Whisphered Vows giggled.

She said, "My daughter, she's just reminding you. I'm already aware of it, of course, so I've already prepared the armor for him.

However, you will get it later while you are leaving the city. So, we have to prepare for your leave first. I've already told my Bloodsworn that you have to stop at the runemaker quarter to get the light armor."

Myles and Nyxara were astonished. They couldn't believe their mother already designed an artifact for Myles.

Nyxara couldn't hold herself and flew towards her mother's arms, hugging her tightly.

"Thank you, Mother."

The Lady of Chains and Whisphered Vows and the Guardian of Scarlet Bond were surprised.

The former hugged her daughter tightly, as she and the latter stared at Myles with inquisitive gaze.

Myles simply smiled and said nothing.

The Guardian of Scarlet Bond joked. "Oh? It seems your daughter has fallen in love with her knight."

The Lady of Chains and Whisphered Vows rolled her eyes and replied, "You just don't know how much my daughter is eager to enter the Royal Academy. If she's unable to do so because of her knight, she would not forgive herself."

The Guardian of Scarlet Bond glanced at Nyxara, who reacted quite strangely when she joked, and smirked.

"I wonder if that's the case."

The Lady of Chains and Whisphered Vows rolled her eyes and focused on caressing her daughter's hair affectionately.

The Guardian of Scarlet Bonds focused on Myles and scrutinized him from head to toe.

She was intrigued when Myles dared to meet her gaze.

She said, "Do you know why I didn't even bother looking at you?"

Myles' heart skipped a beat. For some reason, her words muddled him.

He failed to reply, causing the Guardian of Scarlet Bond to smile in amusement.

When Myles saw her smile, it was then he finally processed her question and instantly understood the answer.

Because at this moment, just from their brief interaction and a smile directed at him, he was already charmed.
