Arnav's POV
"Yrr, where did she disappear? I've been calling her for so long."
Arnav was standing outside her house, continuously calling her. When there was still no response, he rang the gate bell.
"Namaste, aunty."
Mom:
"Namaste, beta. You're here?"
Arnav:
"Aunty, by the blessings of you and my mom, I'm going on a date with your daughter… what was her name… Aavya."
Mom:
"Beta, I have only one daughter, so there was no need for the name. Come inside."
As they walked into the hall—
Arnav:
"Aunty, where is Aavya? I've been calling her for so long."
Mom:
"She's sleeping. She still hasn't woken up."
Arnav:
"Oh, she hasn't woken up yet? Then I guess I'll have to wait."
Mom:
"No, I'll wake her up so you both can leave."
Arnav:
"No aunty, maybe she's tired. Let her sleep peacefully."
Mom:
"Beta, you're very nice, but if we don't wake her up, she'll sleep for a long time."
Arnav:
"It's okay, aunty. I'll talk to you for a while. We can wake her up later."
Mom:
"Alright, beta."
After some time—
Mom:
"Go beta, wake her up. She's been sleeping for too long."
Arnav:
"I have to go? Can't you wake her up?"
(Thinking to himself: Please aunty, say no… please please)
Mom:
"No beta, I have some work, so I can't go. You go."
Arnav:
"Okay, aunty."
(Thinking: Oh yes yes, thanks aunty)
Arnav went upstairs and knocked on the door, but there was no answer. So he went inside directly. Aavya was sleeping peacefully.
Arnav:
"Hey witch, wake up! Don't you want to go on the date? Wake up!"
Shaking her—
Arnav:
"Wake up, kid, wake up."
Aavya:
"Who is it… let me sleep."
Arnav:
"Wake up, idiot."
Aavya:
"I'm waking up… just 5 minutes."
Arnav:
"That's enough, wake up."
Aavya finally woke up, saw him, and said—
Aavya:
"Who are you… what are you doing here?"
Rubbing her eyes, she looked properly and screamed—
Aavya:
"Hey! What are you doing here? How did you come into my room?!"
Arnav:
"Don't shout, aunty will hear."
Aavya:
"Why? Did you come from the balcony or what?"
Arnav:
"Are you crazy? I'm saying aunty will find out that we're friends. Speak softly."
Aavya:
"Oh okay… but why are you here? And did you really come from the balcony?"
Arnav:
"Yes— I mean no. I came through the door. I've been here for a long time. You were sleeping, so I didn't want to disturb you. I was with aunty till now. And I came to remind you— we're going on a date today, did you forget?"
Aavya:
"Yeah yeah, I remember. I told you to call me 30 minutes before, right?"
Arnav:
"Hey you… kid, open your phone once."
While picking up the phone—
Aavya:
"Why, what's in my phone—"
She froze after seeing 54 missed calls.
Mom (from downstairs):
"Did you say something, beta?"
Aavya:
"Hehe… um—"
Arnav:
"What kind of stuff do you take that you didn't wake up at all? I called you so many times."
Aavya:
"It's just… hehe… now get out of my room, idiot. I'll get ready and come."
Arnav:
"Okay okay, I'm going."
He went downstairs.
