One hour later…
For a long time, neither Sekhmet nor Elena spoke.
The barren region of the Void Land had become quiet again. There were no enemies nearby, no screaming, no weapons striking against each other, and no smell of fresh blood coming from hundreds of wounded people. Only the strange sky stretched above the empty land while the two of them recovered from everything that had happened.
Sekhmet lay still for several minutes before he finally noticed how different his mind felt.
The pressure was gone.
Not completely, but enough that he could think without every thought turning toward blood or another violent desire. His breathing had returned to normal. His heartbeat no longer felt like something was hammering against the inside of his chest, and the strange feeling that another instinct was trying to control his body had disappeared.
Most importantly, when he looked at Elena beside him, he simply saw Elena.
