Chapter 116 - Resting After Battle

A cerulean torrent pierced through the flames, extinguishing the fire field along its path and leaving behind moist earth, colliding head-on with the flying flame disc.

The water current and flames were deadlocked for an instant, then slowly tilted towards Fionn's direction.

Seeing this, veins popped on Fionn's forehead. Without hesitation, he poured most of the remaining magical energy in his body into his Noble Phantasm.

The increase in magical energy had an immediate effect. The flame disc about to rush over was instantly suppressed, the two deadlocked in mid-air.

But was this the end?

Before Fionn could breathe a sigh of relief, Takumi's figure already appeared behind him.

The "sure-hit" Takumi learned was generally inferior to Scáthach's "causality reversal." The so-called "sure-hit" was just sure-hit; as long as the opponent had the ability to block it, blocking it frontally was no problem.

But for Takumi, hitting the target was enough.

So Takumi didn't think there was any problem with his Noble Phantasm being blocked—in other words, the attack being blocked was Takumi's goal!

Takumi held the spear with both hands, the spear shaft and tip forming a straight line, aiming at Fionn's back.

[God-Spear No Second Strike]!

White qi energy lingered around the flag-spear. In an instant, it blasted a large hole in the water shield protecting Fionn, then stabbed straight into Fionn, who was still maintaining his Noble Phantasm and couldn't reinforce his defense even if he discovered Takumi.

Squelch!

The spear tip pierced into the body, qi energy ravaging inside.

At the same time, a large amount of water splashed into mid-air by the flag-spear didn't disappear directly or fall according to inertia, but turned into sharp water blades, cutting towards Takumi's body.

Whoosh!

Water blades hit Takumi, but there was no sound of cutting flesh, instead sounding like liquid hitting metal.

Upon impact, they lost form, turning into water droplets and falling, finally turning into steam rising under the high temperature.

'Even defense is impeccable?'

Taking a [No Second Strike] from Takumi head-on, internal organs severely damaged, Fionn, powerless to fight back, smiled miserably.

Fionn—Exit.

Fionn's body fell. The cool water current resisting the flame disc disappeared along with it. But a large amount of water vapor was left in the fire field, covering Takumi's figure as well.

Brahmastra in the flame disc didn't continue rushing forward, but flew diagonally upward, dispersing the water vapor shrouding Takumi. Then gradually losing rotational power in the air, falling straight down.

Clang!

Takumi caught the falling Brahmastra.

At the same time, his left arm swiped gently in the air. The flames shrouding the entire battlefield disappeared slowly, revealing the empty and charred earth beneath.

"As expected of Fionn, actually could launch a counterattack in that situation just now."

Standing on the charred ground, Takumi sighed at Fionn's flawless combat, but his gaze shifted to his prosthetic arm.

Two battles in this one day had already caused wear and tear on this prosthetic arm he spent a lot of effort making.

"This prosthetic arm is already the best performance I could create using materials in Chaldea. Actually only barely supports combat..."

Takumi looked silently at the prosthetic arm which was already somewhat incoherent in use under his control.

Just as Li Shuwen said, this prosthetic arm was currently a drag on Takumi. As long as it was like this, it was difficult for Takumi to exert his true full strength.

After all, Takumi's Strength parameter was too high, and his fighting style was intense and fierce. Even with reinforcement treatment, this kind of precision device still couldn't withstand it.

"Anyway, go back and debug it first. There is a decisive battle to fight tomorrow, which will be much fiercer than today."

Takumi exhaled, turning around and walking along the path he came from.

Not a big problem; at least he had a way to solve it now.

"By the way, Helena and Edison should have the ability to make a better one, right? Pity the decisive battle is tomorrow; even asking them for help is too late..."

Before leaving, Takumi muttered softly.

...

Bang bang! Click click! Zzz...

Takumi removed his prosthetic arm, using tools borrowed from Edison and the others to repair and debug the slightly damaged prosthetic arm.

Although single-handed, Takumi's speed was fast, so before long he debugged the prosthetic arm back to normal state.

"Phew..."

After returning the tools, Takumi walked alone onto the slightly empty city wall.

The number of mechanical soldiers stationed here wasn't large; it was the section with the least.

Not because the arranger was careless, but mainly because Celtic soldiers were mass-produced types without much brain. Most of the time, they would choose to attack frontally. This section of the wall indeed had almost never been attacked for so long. Moreover, there were more reliable magecraft alarms; mechanical soldiers were just checking for gaps.

Takumi leaned forward, resting against the crenels of the city wall, feeling the cool breeze on the wall, quietly looking at the crescent moon in the sky.

Seemed to be spacing out, seemed to be doing something else.

"You should go back to rest."

A familiar voice came from not far away.

Takumi retracted his gaze, leaning back, looking curiously at the comer:

"What are you doing here?"

Nightingale said expressionlessly and without hesitation:

"To find you, make you go back to rest!"

"Rest..."

Takumi lowered his eyes, a trace of imperceptible fatigue in his tone.

But then Takumi adjusted his mood, a relaxed smile on his face:

"Watch the moon for a while longer, then I'll go back to rest."

"What's good to watch about the moon?"

Nightingale frowned, dragging Takumi back without saying a word.

"Why not good to watch? The weather today is clearly quite nice."

Takumi didn't resist Nightingale's strength, but tried to argue verbally.

After walking two steps, Nightingale stopped, seeming to remember something, turning around to stare straight into Takumi's eyes.

"Nice? You mean blowing cool breeze here is nice?"

At this moment, a gust of strong wind hit, blowing the hair and clothes of the two.

The wind direction was directly facing Nightingale's face, making her bangs blow backward, revealing her smooth forehead.

But obviously Nightingale didn't care about this, still staring straight into Takumi's eyes.

Takumi, with his back to the wind, was more "miserable." Not having groomed for some time, his somewhat long black hair unconsciously scraped towards his face and eyes.

"Isn't blowing cool breeze quite comfortable? And I'm not an ordinary person; blowing a bit is nothing..."

The pricking hair tips made Takumi blink several times subconsciously, but strange luster flickered in his pupils.

"Are you sure you are just blowing cool breeze?"

Nightingale smiled, then took a step forward without warning, pulling Takumi forcefully.

Nightingale's Strength wasn't low. Takumi staggered under the sudden immense force for a moment, taking a small quick step forward before stabilizing his figure.

When he recovered, he found Nightingale's face very close to his own, completely able to feel her slightly fragrant breath.

Takumi leaned back subconsciously, but Nightingale was relentless, sticking close immediately.

Expression serious, gaze not deviating at all.

"Miss Nightingale..."

"I saw it. There are two little people fighting in your eyes."

Just when Takumi wanted to ask what Nightingale was doing, Nightingale suddenly spoke.
