The Everlight party entered the abandoned dungeon. The air was dense and a pungent smell of rotten flesh filled in the room. There were human remains that seem recent. Raye took a closer look at the human remains and was disgusted by it. There were not any wounds on the human remains. It was...unharmed. Though the flesh of the human remains were rotten and bugs flew around and eats the flesh. The Everlight party continues ventures deeper into the dungeon and were met with all kinds of corpse. Beasts that lived in the dungeon were all dead. Just like the human remains they saw earlier at the first level, there is no wounds except bugs that came and flew around to eat it. As they ventured down deep into the dungeon, the rotten smell gets more pungent. There was not any beasts the Everlight party need to take on so they quickly arrived to the 46th level of the dungeon.
In this level, there are many stairs that leads to who knows where. The level is dark except the faint light coming from the start of the level. Raye picked up the torch placed on the ground and walked down the first stair. The rest of the Everlight party followed up and climb down the stair. It descends deeper and deeper until they reached the end of that stair. Below the stair leads to the abyss. On the left of the stair the Everlight party stood on is another stair that leads up. They climbed onto that stair and climbs up. This happened again and again, jumping from one stair to another, going up and down. There does not seem to be an end for this. They soon reached to a stair that has two stairs at each sides. Not knowing which to choose, Will decided to take use of the darkness to his advantage.
The darkness where Will exists allows him to go as far as he wants. He look around and went further. Further and further, he sensed a presence similar to the goddess of death, Araphiel. It was from a girl who covers herself in large roots of trees. There is a small light on her chest that light up the darkness near her. Will opens his eyes and said "Left".
The Everlight party all listened to Will's instructions, hoping that they are not getting lost. After a while, Raye look from afar and saw a small faint light. He pointed towards the light and they all followed it. Jumping from stairs to stairs, skipping a few stairs while trying not to fall. Amethia grabbed onto Raye while Will grabbed onto Al and Auoun with the help of the shadows and landed on a stair, in front of the witch. She was wrapped around with the roots of the trees. She wore a black dress and she has long black hair. Both of her arms were tied behind a thick root.
The witch raises her head and look at Raye.
"Who...are you? Are you...trying to kill me? Like those people from the city...?"
She has a sweet voice, a young voice and also, a broken voice. A voice sounds so sweet yet melancholic.
"I am Raye Winston, I want to help you!"
"Lies! You're just like everyone else, a liar! I hate liars!"
The roots started moving and aimed for Raye. Before it could touch him, Auoun smashed his hammers together, exploding the roots before it could touch him.
"Let us help you, please give me a chance,"
"Liar! That's what they all said, those scientists that gave me those gloves, in the end, all they ever want is to use my curse for war!"
The roots came from all directions. Amethia and Will flew up and fired thunder and fire spells at it. Raye drew out his sword and slices the roots.
"Please, let us help you,"
The witch stopped attacking and thought for a moment.
"Fine, I'll ask you a questions, if you answer it correctly, then I'll see what you got,"
The roots stopped rushing towards them as Raye sheathed his sword, showing no hostility to the witch.
"A young lass who never received love felled in love with a man, he was handsome, many girls fawn over him while the poor lass just watches all from the side, the man noticed the young lass kept watching him and decided to be her friend, they talk and talk and both of them caught feeling for each other, during one night, the lass was outside and saw the man making out with another girl through the window, what do you think the lass did?"
The Everlight party was dumbfounded by that questions. Raye then answered it with uncertainty.
"...The lass...tries to get revenge on the boy and that girl?"
"...Half correct, the lass kills the girl and tried to get the boy to fall for her again, the boy's eyes were filled with fear, the lass trying to show her love for the boy did everything for him, but he just never LOOKS INTO HER EYES!"
The witch's voice gets aggressive the longer she speaks.
"One day, the lass cornered the boy in the kitchen, questioning him for why he does not accept her feelings, the boy acting out of defence grabs a knife and stabbed her, the girl still deeply, madly in love with the boy crawls towards the boy, touching the soft cheeks of his, before realising that she had already killed him,"
The witch started laughing hysterically, making the scene feel unsettling.
"S-so, will you hear us out?"
Raye asked the witch, stopping her from laughing.
"Darling, your answer is not what I wish for, so...Die."
Large roots stretched towards the Everlight party as Raye just simply slices them without moving an inch.
"We won't leave until you are willing to hear us out,"
Raye stood firm on the ground, his expression remain unfazed.
"Then I will just kill you!"
She let out a presence that rotted the stairs from a distance till the end. They break apart and falls into the abyss. Despite this, the Everlight party stood unfazed as nothing happened to them.
"How is that possible-?! No, that's weird, you guys should have die when you enter the dungeon fro the start,"
"I actually...don't know,"
Raye thought to himself as the witch let out more of her presence, this time, it was a lot more stronger. The stairs started rotting and collapsing. The Everlight party except Will felt a sudden feeling where their souls almost left their bodies.
Am I not affected because of my title as the 'Apostle of Death'? Then why aren't they too? Or am I actually preventing their souls from leaving from the beginning just that I don't realise it, though the same can't be said for now.
Will then took a step forward which shocked the witch.
"Why aren't you affected? Wait...your presence...is somewhat similar to mine..."
Will didn't respond. He just kept walking towards the witch but stop before the tree. The witch blink once and Will is gone.
