The dream starts the way it always does. I'm standing somewhere dark, watching something I can't stop.
But this time it's worse.
Vivian stands in the middle of what looks like a ballroom. Chandeliers, marble floors, people in expensive clothes. Everything is perfect. Beautiful.
Then I see Chase.
He walks toward Vivian, and with each step, the temperature drops. People's breath mists in the air. The chandeliers start to sway even though there's no wind.
Vivian doesn't notice. She's arguing with someone. Marcus, maybe. Her face is angry, determined.
Chase reaches her. Touches her shoulder.
The moment his hand makes contact, flames erupt.
Not normal fire. This is different. Black at the edges, blue at the center, spreading impossibly fast. It crawls up Vivian's dress, wraps around her throat, consumes her hair.
She screams.
