CHAPTER 10
"Close the gates now!" Han bellowed the order at the top of his lungs as the Abberants closed in at full speed.
— NOOO!
The humans were panicked as the order was delivered and instantaneously, the men on the walls of the gate grabbed sharp swords and swung them down collectively.
They sliced through the thick ropes holding the gate above the ground.
The moment the ropes were cut, the gate began descending at an alarming pace, aiming to seal any potential escape route.
"... Prepare arms!"
Han leaped off the ground, propelling himself onto the wall of the gate.
Pulling his shotgun from his shoulder, he hurled it away and the next second, another weapon flew into the air, landing in his grasp.
It was a gun too.
But the muzzle looked a bit wider as he cocked it, steadied himself, while assuming a stance, gazing into the distance.
The humans below lunged for the closing gates at immense speed, hoping to make it out of there in time.
The soldiers were unable to react fast enough as some humans got past their defence, but it was all for naught.
THUNK—!
The gate finally descended.
But it didn't land on the ground, it landed on the heads of a dozen humans that were close to running out.
It smashed into their heads, crushing their skulls into a bloody pulp before colliding with the ground in a loud thud, sealing any option of escape.
The civilians screamed in pain and horror as the others reached the gates, banging on it hard with tears falling from their eyes.
— Let us out. Let us out!
— Open up please!
Han steeled himself as he placed his finger on his ears and muttered.
"... The train can leave now."
With that, a loud whistle from behind him echoed in his ears.
He didn't turn around as he stared ahead.
The bus-like train churned to life like an awakened beast and with a loud roar, it began moving.
Leaving wall rose and heading for wall steel at a believable pace.
The trapped humans, on hearing the sound, all roared in unison as they began banging and smashing into the gates, desperately trying to see if it would crack and they could escape.
It was too late.
The Abberants had finally reached their position and with that, a cacophony of bangs erupted in the air as the soldiers all opened fire.
The cannon-looking contraptions shot out blazing balls of energy that flew across the air, smashing against the guards of the creatures.
It tore a few scales from their bodies as they were all pushed back slightly.
Dust burst out, but not too much to obscure the view as the creatures lowered their guards with a snarl.
"FIRE HARDER!"
The order from Han was clear and decisive and instantaneously, the cannons hummed to life as thunderous bangs split the air, with balls of energy cutting through the air like snowballs.
Smashing into the Abberants and only causing shallow injuries.
The creatures themselves didn't stay put to get bombarded by these strange energies.
Clenching his fist hard, one of the creatures smashed it into the ground so forcefully that it cracked badly, with dust billowing into the air.
Unclenching his fist, the creature drove it into the cracked ground, pulling it up like one was pulling a carpet from the floor.
Lifting it up, it twirled once and then with all his might, hurled the slab of earth in his hand.
It flew forward at immense speed and to the civilians' horror, it was aimed at them who were behind the ground soldiers.
WAM—!
It collided with them no matter how hard they tried to dodge as their eyes all rolled back.
Blood splattered in the air as even the ground soldiers were shaken and fell off their feet.
But the wall soldiers didn't relent as they covered their backs with bursts of energies blazing forward, pushing two of the three creatures back.
Crushing the earth in his hand, one of the Abberants cocked his arm backwards like a javelin player with one leg raised up.
"From dust you came and the same dust will take your lives!" The creature cackled loudly and then, hurling his arm forward, the earth projectile flew from his grasp like a spear.
Like a blazing arrow in the sky, it flew at breakneck speed, smashing into the ground soldiers, therefore destroying their contraptions and also killing them all in one fell swoop.
Some civilians were still alive and seeing this, their hearts collectively thumped.
— We are doomed.
— Where is the Vanguard order?! Why haven't they arrived yet?
Screams of agony filled the air as the civilians cried to the sky in horror.
The Abberants all cackled in unison as more balls of energy shot forward, colliding with their bodies, only peeling the scales off their bodies with streams of blue liquid trickling down.
"You all forgot one thing," one of the creatures smirked as it leaned forward.
Legs coiling like a spring and then with a thunderous bang, he exploded forward at tremendous speed.
"... The more we get hurt, the stronger we are!"
BAM—!
He crashed into the gate and the wall thereof in the blink of an eye, causing cracks to spread across the surface like spiderwebs.
The rumbling from this collision caused the wall to shudder, making Han leap off the wall with his VMS boots boosting him into the air.
"And you underestimate humanity a lot. We are not so helpless like the first time we met!"
Crack—!
POW—!
A huge ball resembling a laser beam erupted from the gun's muzzle, crashing into the Abberant's eyes and burning through it, causing the creature to yell in immense pain as it staggered backwards.
Landing on the side of the wall, Han leaned forward as he frowned.
'... One more minute left before my boots run out of energy.'
His heart thumped softly as he turned his head behind him to see the train had almost vanished out of view.
'Ray… I wish you the best in your life. I hope you survive these perilous times and come out on top. I hope rage doesn't blind and consume you.'
"As for me…"
Han paused as he turned his gaze back to the Abberant reeling backwards with his fellow creatures staring in confusion.
"... I know my time is up but I will at least bring one of these bastards to hell with me!"
Bang—!
He exploded from where he stood forcefully.
His boots vaulting him forward almost like a blur as he cocked the gun in his hand ready to unleash hell.
