Chapter 8 - Chapter 8

Marvin was a little busy with the police officers outside. I was staring at the room; it had pictures of her with her father and mother. I put the photos back when I heard her voice.

"Um… I'm sorry, but I have to go. They need me at the department. B-but you can stay here, I mean until you get better… until I come back,"

Mervin said while staring into my eyes. I smiled gently at her, but this system wouldn't leave me alone. I had to overcome it if I wanted to have a normal life.

"It's okay, I was planning to leave anyway. I have some work I need to check on,"

I said as we walked out of her house. It was medium-sized, but attractive. She got into the police car and left before me. I was really lucky.

I started walking through the middle of the area. There were many luxurious houses; it seemed this neighborhood was truly high-class. Without realizing it, a large suitcase full of a man's clothes fell in front of me, its contents scattering everywhere.

A man came out of one of the houses, but he was pushed out by a tall girl with dark brown hair and a seductive body. What caught my attention was the harmony of her curves. She was wearing a nightdress.

"Have you gone crazy, Clara? We're getting married in a week! You can't break off the engagement. It was just one night, nothing more. I was drunk, Clara. We were celebrating, and I didn't realize anything until what happened happened. Clara, I really love you…"

The man said that, then I heard the sound of a strong slap that I felt in my own heart. Ah, lovers' problems. I stepped away from his fallen suitcase and continued on my way.

"Stop, sir! You look noble. You agree with me, right? You're a man like me, and these things happen,"

The man grabbed my hand. Wait—these are family matters, and I shouldn't get involved.

"Please, Fadro, everything is over between us. You cheated on me, Fadro. I don't care whether you were drunk or not—you slept with another woman,"

said Clara, who was furious at Fadro.

[Daily System Mission:

Sleep with Clara and obtain a car as an extra gift and 90 Life Points.]

Wait, System, this is impossible. I mean, yes, she's an attractive girl, but damn it, the situation doesn't allow this. She just broke up with her future husband in front of me, and now you want me to spend the night with her? Heh.

"Say something, man,"

Fadro looked desperate. I didn't know what to say.

"Fadro, how would you feel if I got drunk and slept with another man a week before our wedding? Tell me, wouldn't your heart break?"

She said, her eyes reddening. Fadro shrugged, then said coldly while staring into her eyes,

"I would still love you even if you did that…"

He said, only for Clara to slap him again. This time he grabbed her hand and twisted it. I pulled her away from him and threw the man to the ground.

"I understand that you love her, but do you hurt the person you love? Never. I don't know the details of your story, but you should never abuse women,"

I said while Clara stayed behind me.

"Listen to me, Clara. No one will ever marry you. Do you know why? Because you're an illegitimate daughter of a wealthy family that threw you into this house. No one will love you. You'll come back to me on your knees,"

The man said his words. For some reason, I couldn't accept this level of cruelty. I hate it when someone can't accept rejection. He didn't need to go this far.

"I never expected to hear such words from you, Fadro. We spent four years together, in good times and bad. You were the only one who knew this secret. And now, after our breakup—and because of you—you shame me for something I have no control over. Fadro, I truly hate you,"

She said while still holding onto my arm. Fadro tried to approach her, but I blocked his path with my body.

"Stay away from her. Everything between you is over,"

I said, then pushed him back. He retreated while threatening her, saying he wouldn't forgive her and that he would expose her secret to the press. After Fadro disappeared from our sight, I turned to Clara and found her collapsed on the ground.

I helped her up.

"It's okay. I'm sorry about what he said,"

I said, trying to comfort her. Tears filled her eyes, but she didn't cry.

"Everything I've built will be destroyed if Fadro exposes my secret to the press. I'll lose my position at Bainer Company,"

She murmured, fear evident on her face. A partner has no right to do such a thing to the other, even after a breakup.

"Oh… I'm sorry, sir, that you had to witness this farce. We've wasted your precious time,"

She could barely stand. She staggered toward her house, then fell to the ground after opening the door. I was worried about her, so I rushed to check on her.

Her temperature wasn't too high. I carried her inside the house and placed her on the sofa. I took a cup of water and sprinkled it on her. I noticed her vital signs and felt reassured about her condition.

[You have five days left to complete the weekly missions.

Failure to complete the weekly missions will result in your death.]

"Calm down, Vikas. You have to succeed in completing the system's missions if you want to survive. I'll come up with another idea to overcome the system,"

I thought while staring at Clara's house. It seemed she was an interior designer; there were several awards on the shelf.

"I need to open the harem section to stop the flow of these damn daily missions,"

I said to myself, feeling that Clara had woken up.
