The dining hall was enormous.
Too enormous. The ceiling stretched up into dark shadows I couldn't see.
Chandeliers hung from the rafters, dripping with candles that flickered and hissed like an annoyed sibling.
I wonder if I had one of those. Siblings, I mean. Do I have one? And if I did, did mother sell them too?
I blinked away the thought and focused on the fairytale like dinning room, Cora-James ushered me into.
It was beautiful in a sad kind of way.
Like the lights for example—they were gold and warm, but it didn't reach the corners. It was like it was afraid to find out what was hovering there.
And the table was too long. So long I could barely see the other end. Like it was purposely made to discourage conversations and closeness.
It was sad.
It all looked like a design of a sad person.
If I had a family one day, our table will be shorter and I will make damn sure beautiful lights reached corners too.
