Chapter 20 - Submit Or Submit.

At this point, the man laughed and said, "If gambling were so lucrative, gambling wouldn't exist anymore because every gambling house would quickly go bankrupt."

Then the man stopped laughing and became serious as he said, "With that kind of luck, he can't be allowed to continue. And if he chooses the Money Pathway and uses those cloudy dates to buy the loyalty of some lackies, our hope of killing him during the initiation program will dwindle to nearly nothing."

"So instead of leaving things to chance, we have come to uproot the problem at its roots. I hope you can bear with us."

Muni sighed and said, "I can stand by and watch. But you know the sect rules. You will still need to be fined."

As someone who rose up as a slave and worked his way to the top, he doesn't like these pompous second-generation cultivators who think they can control everything. But that doesn't mean that he is going to risk his life for someone else.

In fact, he is not going to risk offending the Rein Family for Loki. He won't do that even if they didn't pay him to keep his mouth shut and mind his business. Now that they have paid him, he was very willing to stand by and watch.

In regard to the fine that Muni mentioned, the man chuckled and said, "That's a small matter. We will handle the fines. And if there is any backlash about this, we will also handle it."

The man's promises brought a smile to Muni's face as he said, "It is nice working with you."

The man also smiled and said, "It is also nice working with you. If you have any needs in the future, you can come to the Rein Family. We will do our best to help you."

The two of them had come to a peaceful arrangement, so the person who broke into Loki's house didn't meet any obstruction. Loki didn't even notice the forced intrusion into his place of abode until someone tapped him awake.

At first, he was confused by the forced awakening. But once he saw the face of the person who woke him up, all his sleepiness left him, and his eyes became sharp.

He quickly scrambled back to create some distance between himself and the man. Unfortunately for him, there was a wall behind him. So there was nowhere to go.

The man watched him scramble around like a startled rat with a faint look of amusement on their face.

Then the man said, "Once a slave, always a slave."

These words struck Loki like a hammer. But the hammer didn't make him more fearful. Instead, the hammer dispelled the fear that he was feeling and gave him courage.

The man's words made him overcome his instinctive fear and remember that he didn't need to be afraid anymore. So he stopped trying to escape and stood up to look at the man in the face.

Then he said calmly, "I am no longer a slave."

His behavior made the man sneer and say, "And why is that? Because of the little money you earned today?"

Before Loki could reply, the man waved his hand in dismissal and said, "Your answer doesn't matter to me. What matters right now is that you have two choices. You either sign a contract that signs away your life to me, or I forcefully enslave you right now."

"I know you're still ignorant of the Branches of the sect and the capabilities of cultivators, but trust me when I say that I can enslave you."

"The only reason why I haven't done that and instead gave you a chance to sign your life away is that the fines we will pay the sect for breaking into the initiation program will be cheaper if you willingly sign yourself away."

"It will be more expensive to forcefully enslave you. But that doesn't mean I won't do it if you decide to be unreasonably stubborn. So what do you say?"

Killing Loki is also an option, but it is the worst option. If they kill Loki, the fine will be much higher, and they won't gain anything. At least, by enslaving him, he will still be alive, and they will gain a new talented slave.

So the man urged him, saying, "Make up your mind quickly. I don't have all night to waste with a mutt like you."

The man's words made Loki laugh. It was a deprecating laughter tainted with both amusement and sadness.

As he laughed, he said, "I want to have freedom, but you think that is unreasonable. How is that reasonable?"

The man nodded and replied with all the seriousness he could muster, saying, "You are property. You are the property of my Rein Family. So it is reasonable that we want to regain control of you."

This answer made Loki's eyes become venomous as he said, "I will kill Slav, you, your elder brother, your father, your mother, and everyone else in your family."

Then he activated the Rewind Metac and reversed time. When he came to, it was the moment of his awakening.

This time, he gritted his teeth in anger and swore to himself, "I must make all of you beg for death at least once, or I won't be satisfied."

The Rewind Metac saved his life, but he had to leave behind most of his possessions. He lost the remaining 34,500 from his winnings, the 15 cloudy dates in his energy well, and the three Metacs that he wanted to devour.

The only thing that he brought with him was the cultivation of peak rank 1 in the two energy chambers within Fenrir. Unfortunately, this cultivation hasn't made him stronger physically, and he can't use this cultivation to attack yet because he doesn't have any offensive Metac.

This means that he won't be able to get Slav yet. But he didn't mind this. He decided to patiently bid his time.
