Alex's sharp question attracted Wood's attention. He tilted his head to look at Alex with surprise; the gold decorative chain of his glasses draped down from his temple, glinting in the sunlight, further highlighting his striking heroic spirit.
Alex dared not look him straight in the eye, lowering his head to look at his own hands:
"Look, we never felt there were so many complicated matters. Because ordinary people like us have to run around every day for food and clothing. Commoner women are very capable; they can manage housework, take care of children, cook, and some even have to find time to do handicrafts or take in laundry to earn extra income."
Alex spread his hands; he wasn't fair-skinned enough because he ran errands around the city all year round, so his skin was slightly tanned, with rough calluses and small scars left by work on his hands.
