Chapter 12: Flip the Table

BOOM!

Ronin's fist hammered into Uvogin's chest.

The explosive force of the Cherry Blossom Impact released instantly.

Even Uvogin, anchored into the metal hull, was bent backward by the sheer kinetic energy. His eyes widened in shock as the impact reverberated through his massive frame.

Blood trickled from the corner of his mouth. The punch had damaged him.

But in the next second, the shock on Uvogin's face twisted into a mask of frenzied rage. He ignored the pain. The arm that had missed its punch swung back, while his other arm clamp shut.

He intended to trap Ronin in a crushing bear hug.

However, Ronin, having landed the hit, didn't give Uvogin the chance.

The Sharingan's dynamic vision slowed the world down. Every twitch of Uvogin's muscles was telegraphed.

Ronin dropped his center of gravity immediately. He squatted low, pulling his right arm back and channeling a massive surge of Chakra into it again. He aimed his fist upward—directly at Uvogin's groin.

In that split second, a chill shot up Uvogin's spine. Even a monster has weak points.

But as Ronin prepared to strike, he saw Uvogin's aura shift rapidly from his arms to his throat and lungs. He also saw the giant take a deep, massive breath.

Ronin realized instantly what was coming.

He aborted the punch. instead of striking, he widened his eyes, locking gaze with Uvogin, and cast a Genjutsu. Simultaneously, he kicked off the hull, retreating backward as fast as possible.

At this close range, the Genjutsu hit. Through the Sharingan, Ronin saw the aura protecting Uvogin ripple and destabilize for a fraction of a second.

That brief hesitation was all Ronin needed. He put several meters of distance between them and clamped his hands over his ears.

ROAAAAAR!

A sonic scream erupted from Uvogin's mouth, powerful enough to shatter eardrums and liquefy internal organs.

It was a wide-area attack. No substitution jutsu could dodge sound.

Uvogin had been preparing this since Ronin first charged. He remembered clearly how Ronin had vanished into smoke before, and he knew he couldn't easily catch the slippery brat with his hands.

A point-blank sonic stun was the perfect counter.

But the execution failed. Ronin had anticipated it.

Uvogin wiped the blood from his mouth, looking at Ronin with a newfound seriousness.

This kid is dangerous.

That punch hurt. It aggravated the broken ribs he had sustained fighting his father days ago. More importantly, the kid had the ability to predict his moves, evade perfectly, and deal damage.

This was no longer a hunt for a rabbit. It was a fight with a wolf.

Ronin, having retreated to a safe distance, looked back with equal gravity.

Enhancers are absurd, he thought. His defense is terrifying.

The Cherry Blossom Impact was the strongest physical attack Ronin currently possessed. Landing it clean on the chest only resulted in a bit of internal bleeding.

What now?

Ronin glanced down. The ground was getting closer.

He crouched again, assuming a sprinter's stance.

Uvogin narrowed his eyes. He's coming again?

The vertical terrain of the airship hull severely limited Uvogin's movement. If they were on flat ground, Uvogin was confident he could outspeed Ronin and smash him before he could retreat. But here, stuck to the side of the ship, Uvogin was essentially a stationary turret waiting to be attacked.

Annoying little pest.

Uvogin tightened his muscles, preparing to intercept. His mouth moved slightly, almost imperceptibly.

Ronin didn't hesitate. He launched himself forward, accelerating even faster than before.

The distance closed in a heartbeat.

Ronin spun in mid-air, his right leg whipping around like a scythe, aiming for Uvogin's temple.

Taijutsu: Leaf Whirlwind!

This time, Uvogin didn't try to block.

He ducked his head slightly, letting the kick sail over him. At the same time, he opened his mouth and spat.

A single tooth, infused with a concentrated bullet of Nen, shot out like a sniper round.

It happened in the middle of Ronin's rotation.

Ronin's expression didn't change. His Sharingan had seen the aura gathering in Uvogin's mouth long before the tooth was fired.

He shifted his weight mid-air, twisting his torso.

Zip!

The tooth bullet grazed his abdomen, tearing through his clothes and skin, but missing the vital organs.

Ignoring the stinging pain, Ronin used his momentum. He planted a hand on the hull and vaulted, turning his dodge into a rising kick that slammed squarely into Uvogin's chin.

Thwack!

Uvogin's head snapped back.

Ronin didn't stop. He landed on the hull, right beneath Uvogin's feet.

Uvogin, realizing his balance was compromised, performed an iron bridge maneuver, leaning all the way back and digging his fingers into the metal plates to anchor himself again.

He's trying to kick me off, Uvogin thought.

But suddenly, a sense of supreme danger flooded Uvogin's mind.

It wasn't an attack on his body.

The metal beneath his feet groaned.

Uvogin watched as the world spun. The entire section of the airship's outer plating—the very ground he was standing on—was being ripped away.

The crazy bastard is tearing the ship apart!

Ronin stood on the stable part of the hull, his arms bulging with Chakra. He wasn't using a combat jutsu. He was using a technique typically meant to lift giant boulders.

Earth Style: Mausoleum Earth Dumpling!

By applying the principles of this Jutsu, Ronin gained the monstrous strength needed to tear the reinforced metal plating off the airship's frame.

Since Uvogin was anchored to that specific plate near the broken window, he went with it.

With a screech of tearing steel, the massive sheet of metal—carrying the Spider along with it—was flung into the empty air.

The airship was still dozens of meters off the ground.

Ronin wasn't sure if the fall would kill Uvogin.

However, Uvogin wouldn't land gracefully like Chairman Netero. He was already injured.

Ronin had two choices.

Rush to the cockpit, force the pilot to pull up, and fly to the next city.

Force the ship to land and finish the job.

The dilemma lasted less than three seconds.

Ronin looked down and saw Uvogin smash into the ground below, coughing up a large fountain of blood upon impact.

The decision was made.

Kick him while he's down?

No.

End him while he's weak.
